Their service the last two-three years has slowly been nosediving and now it's not worth it (not even the effort). Order for delivery? Your order will be late (to the point you think they forgot) and will be wrong. Order ahead for pick up? They won't have it ready, won't even know what you're talking about. You'll have to reorder in person and wait for them to make it and figure it out. In person to order? The employees will be in a huddle playing hot potato/tag on who should go talk to you. You move closer and they'll start moving back. They obviously want to go out of business, hope they open something with great food and good service in its place. read more

So this was my first Dominican restaurant and I really regretted my first order because my ex did not give me any advice in what to order. So I decided to go with a cheeseburger deluxe and then now I come to realization that it is a horrible mistake to order a cheeseburger in a Dominican restaurant when there are better things to order like chicken or steak with rice platter and the red beans. I was very upset but now I know. When I got the burger, it was very strange. Not sure if it is a Dominican thing or not but the burger was a vinegar taste!? I love this spot. Open 24/7 you can always get your grub on. The food is delicious but I definitely go for their sandwiches. I get the Pechuga de pollo with Swiss cheese and it's so delicious ! The chicken is thinly sliced and the cheese is well melted and the bread is nice and crisply toasted.. All together it's just a flavorful plunge. I wash it down with a Morin Sanando (Orange juice with condensed milk) and my world is great again. Service is great. Very nice staff and as far as the atmosphere it's a Dominican restaurant.. You have some merengue, batchata or Salsa playing lightly in the background, people eating and conversing.. The restaurant staff communicating amongst themselves.. Its uptown! It's New York! Vegetarian Mofongo Magic I'm visiting NYC from the Bay Area and was on the hunt for some good Dominican food -- Floridita did not disappoint. I got the mofongo with cheese (vegetarian here ) and honestly, it was amazing. The mashed plantains were packed with flavor, crispy in all the right places, and that melty cheese in the middle? So good. It was rich, garlicky, and super satisfying -- total comfort food without needing any meat. We also ordered the maduros and they were perfect -- sweet, caramelized, and soft without being mushy. I could've eaten a whole plate of just those and left happy. The restaurant has this really warm, local vibe -- super friendly staff, no frills, just great food. Definitely one of those neighborhood gems you feel lucky to stumble into. This spot is a bustling casual eatery, serving Latin cuisine. My friend and I stopped by here for dinner right before it got super packed. The menu was extensive, so it was tough to figure out what to order. I decided to go with the Steak Sandwich, and a few small bites: Shrimp patty, Yuca with ground beef, as well as Ham Croquette. I was disappointed by the Steak Sandwich. The description stated it came with crispy potatoes, so I was expecting actual potato pieces, but it was just potato stix chips. Also, the steak was kind of dry and bland. On top of that, there was not that much steak in the sandwich. The lettuce and tomatoes added a nice freshness though. Shrimp patty was pretty tasty. The outer shell was delightfully crispy and there was plenty of well seasoned, tender shrimp filling. I also enjoyed the Yuca with ground beef. The yuca was crunchy with the beef being succulent and flavorful. Ham croquette was small and not that great. Service was on the slow side. Prices are reasonable. We were greeted upon walking in and sat a table (for 6) past midnight on a Saturday night. Ambiance was chill, a bit on the louder side since it was packed and the music too. And their signature dish may be easy to miss on first glance through the extensive Dominican menu. Yet, those in the know are quick to recommend Floridita's Cubano sandwich, whether day or night. Walk in to a small deli counter right up front, filled sparsely with prepackaged pastries and sweets. A diner-style prep area runs along along the left wall, flanked by a line of barstool seats with green drop lighting beneath the counter. The opposite, faux exposed brick wall is sparsely decorated with televisions and occasional posters and flanked by mustard yellow half-booths. The remainder of the room is filled in with many dark, wooden tables. Funky incandescent bulbs drop from the high black ceilings, and vinyl-wood panels deck the floors. For the breakfast service, the room echoes with chatter from the small crowd of regulars, while staff relay orders and prep drinks. The lauded Cubano inspired my early morning visit. I walked in and ordered immediately, then grabbed a seat for around 10 minutes while awaiting my eats. A decently large portion of pickles, garlic, roast pork, and Swiss cheese were slapped together, and the entire sandwich was plancha-pressed until the roll became delectably crisp. The supporting staff were the all-stars of this sandwich. Tangy pickles mixed perfectly with a robust bite of garlic, rounded out by the flavorful crunch of the roll. However, these finishes don't make up for the unimpressive cuts of meat, which I found to be slightly dry without sauce and otherwise forgettable. At $8 (before tax and tip), the Cubano is mildly expensive and moderately satisfying. I've eaten here plenty of time in the past with mixed feelings. This time I had to write this review because of a fear I have always had about restaurants that finally came true. Yesterday, I ordered food to take home for dinner and never bothered to look at it because it was dinner, no need to look I thought. Then I get home and as I am about to heat up my food, I noticed that there were three pieces of my maduros had been bitten already. Then I noticed that a couple of pieces of my chicharron de pollo, also had been bitten into. This has always been a fear of mine of having left over food taken back and placed into back into the serving area. My wife thinks I am paranoid when I mess up any leftovers I leave on a plate so that this can't happen to anyone with my food. I always have to repeat the order 4 x. I'm bilingual so language is not the issue. I ordered the Cubano especial. The pork was very dry. Gave me "cooked the day before" vibes. Maybe because it was a Tuesday afternoon?? But I'm always game for the best eats of the land. Research lead me to Floridita's cubano (I'm a huge fan.). It was a banger need I say. It was a bit too garlicky but not mad at all about it. Called the restaurant immediately and spoke to Gabriel, who claimed that the "new girl" messed up, and the missing meal was sitting there. He said he would give it to another delivery person to bring to us. Gabriel took my address and phone number down and said it would arrive in 10 minutes. Waited 30 minutes, no delivery. They have ample seating in here which is a place. You can sit at the stools in front or at tables. They also have a makeshift bar in the back that people were sitting at. I started with the cuban sandwich and it was solid. The bread was probably a little top charred for my liking but the cheese was melted and the ham was warmed through. Might have tasted better because I was starving. I also ordered the porkchop which was incredibly salty. It was borderline inedible. Not sure how that is possible but it was not good. This was the best Cuban food I've ever had! As a Cuban myself, I'm always looking for the best Cuban restaurant wherever I am. This place beat out every single previous place! The Cubano especial was the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had. The meat was so fresh and juicy while the garlic added such nice flavors. The croquetas were some of the best I've ever had that weren't made by my family. They were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside with such flavorful filling. I would have loved a dipping sauce with it but it was still good without. The maduros were classic and they gave a generous serving. The café con leche was also perfectly made. Highly recommend to order either by phone or in person. Do not use Delivery.com or Grubhub.com to place a food order at this location. I placed an order for delivery by using the yelp app aka Delivery.com. I had ordered 'large chicken soup with a side order of tostones, a steak sandwich, 3 soda cans, & white rice' When ordering on the app I was given an option for a side order that comes along with the soup, I choose tostones that I did not have to pay for. I than placed an order of white rice on the side that I did have to pay for. When my ordered arrived I was given; the chicken soup, white rice, steak sandwich, 3 can sodas, & a small side order of another white rice. When I called & explained the issue that I was seeing, I was explained that the soups any kind of soup comes with a side order of white rice. ( the extra small order that I had ) .. If I wanted an order of tostones I had to place an order to be paid. I understood them, they understood me.
