My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Agrest for about 10 years. Even though we live in Chicago, we find it worth the travel to see him. We receive the most thorough eye exam we've ever had. Saw Dr. DalPorto for an eye exam; hadn't had one in a few years. She was very nice, very knowledgeable, she listened to my concerns, and didn't try to push "services" on me. In the past I've gotten my eye exams & glasses @ cheaper places and Carillon was a little pricier than my usual. However, I have to honestly say that the price I paid - for the eye exam and 3 pair of glasses - was very reasonable. The last time I got glasses they came from Walmart and I hated them so much I never wore them. I carried them around in my purse for year; a true waste of money. This time around I love my new glasses and wear them all the time. So do yourself a favor and check out Carillon Vision Care; it's worth it - and so are you. read more

Best place I have ever been to for an eye exam! Dr. Neukirch and staff are incredibly professional and courteous. The appointment exceeded all of my expectations and more. The eye exam was fast and efficient but not rushed. The equipment they use is state of the art. No more air blowing in your eye or need to dilate the pupils which makes everything blurry for several hours. Welcoming from the start. Took care of everything with my insurance for me right off the bat. Dr. Neukirch is as friendly as everyone on here says he is. He got me out of some outdated contacts and suggested some others to try that ended up being a lot more comfortable. I came in with some other concerns relating to my vision and the doctor took the time to discuss them and reach out to share the information from my visit with another specialist that I've seen previously. I should note that this office has some imaging equipment that you won't find at most optometrist's offices. Haven't gotten frames yet but Vanessa's a charmer and they seem to have what most people would probably be looking for. read more

I was admittedly nervous to go to the eye doctor, as it's been over 20 years since my last eye exam, and I have been noticing subtle changes in my vision. With that said, I felt compelled to write a review, because I had a really pleasant experience yesterday at Carillon. Dr. Neukirch was very knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended that I get glasses, but I was a little hesitant of ordering anything on the spot. He simply couldn't have been nicer and said I was welcome to come back at any time when I was ready to try on frames. Likewise, his staff was very helpful, and the dog in the office is adorable. I have only used Carillon for glasses, not eye exams, as my annual eye exam is performed by an ophthalmologist. But my experience has been very disappointing. In the last couple of years, they have managed to screw up 2 pairs of glasses that subsequently needed to be re-made. When I got my first pair of bifocals, they put the transition from distance to reading in the wrong place (even though they carefully measured multiple times). For a year, I thought I was just having trouble adjusting to bifocals since I'd never worn them before. But then I asked my eye doctor why I was having so much trouble, so his office looked at my glasses and said the line was much too high. In fairness, Carillon did agree to re-make the lenses (after chastising me for not complaining within 2 weeks instead of a year later - true, I should have said something earlier, but since I hadn't worn bifocals before, it hadn't occurred to me that they were made incorrectly). Then the following year I asked them to make computer glasses. They seemed to have trouble figuring out how to interpret the prescription from my ophthalmologist's office, even after talking to my doctor's staff. Then they suggested that their optometrist has a much better process for determining a computer glasses prescription than my doctor (I am very happy with my eye doctor and his staff). When I received my computer glasses, I noticed that they didn't really seem to be helping me much, but never having had computer glasses before, I thought maybe I just didn't really need them. Yes, I should have taken them back sooner. But I just figured I either didn't need them, or maybe Carillon was right and my eye doctor's prescription was wrong. So I asked my eye doctor when I went back to see him. His office checked my computer glasses and found Carillon had made reading glasses rather than computer glasses. They said any optical center should know how to do the math to convert the numbers on the prescription for computer glasses. I took the prescription to another optical center and my eye doctor's office was correct - the other optical place had no trouble understanding the prescription and making correct computer glasses. My husband has been going to Carillon for a few years for both eye exams and glasses and has had nothing but good experiences. So, maybe I've just had an inexplicable run of bad luck - or maybe they are biased against customers who don't have their eye exams performed by Carillon. I have nothing against their optometrists, but I have to see an ophthalmologist for my annual eye exam rather than an optometrist for medical reasons. The owner did call me to apologize after I posted this review. He suggested I could have the refraction part of my eye exam done by their optometrists. However, for convenience, I prefer to have my eye and refraction exams performed at the same time. I still believe any optical center should be able to accurately fill my glasses prescription even when the prescription is provided by a doctor at another facility. read more

I've been going to Carillon Vision Care for the last few years. The staff are all helpful, knowledgeable, welcoming, friendly, and precise. Dr. Andrew Neukirch is the best eye doctor I've ever been to. I'm 63 and have needed eye care since age 14, so I've been to a few. He's quick in what he does, but not hurried, that's why I said precise earlier. He has all the modern equipment and shows me the inside of my eye and explains what's going on in there with each visit so I know what he's talking about. He explains things as he goes along. I really appreciate that. He knows important associates in case you need specialist treatment. Example: When I was seeing white flashing in the sides of my eyes, he sent me to a specialist who saw me the same day. The office is clean and bright and you'll feel comfortable there. If you need an eye doctor, I'd recommend Dr. Neukirch any time. read more

I recently returned to the Chicago area and needed to find a doctor who could cure a stubborn eye allergy and figure out my problem with my contacts. I read reviews on Dr. Neukirch and thought, it's on the way home, I'll see if I can get an appointment. Not only did I get an appointment without having to wait weeks, but the hours meant I didn't have to take off work in the middle of the day. Yahoo! Dr. Neukirch was amazing, not only did he clear up the eye allergy that had been plaguing me for months, he also put me in contacts that are the MOST comfortable lenses I've ever worn. Who knew contacts could be so comfortable, you would forget you had them on? Not me! The entire staff is great and I also love that Dr. Neukirch has his dog Lincoln in the office with him. I'm heading back here when I need my next pair of glasses. read more

We just moved to the area and I went here for new eyeglasses based upon the positive yelp reviews and now have to add my own. They have a nice selection of frames but it's the staff that makes this place great. After I picked out the frames I wanted, I left and only noticed then that the store had closed a few minutes after I had gone in so I had been there almost 45 minutes after they had closed on Saturday. The wonderful woman who helped me and the receptionist, too, never said anything. In fact, the lady helping me picked out several frames for me to try on, in addition to the many I had selected myself. I would have completely understood if they had told me they were closed, but they never said anything and instead were incredibly professional and patient the entire time helping me pick out a frame I was happy with. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Neukirch since before he moved to this location. We currently live in Nashville, TN and make it a point to visit for our yearly check-ups. He is thorough, professional and nice. Dealing with blurred vision can be a pain in the rear but he made us feel comfortable and got our vision back to where we could see the details again. The equipment is high tech too!! He took pictures of the inside of our eyeballs in search of any eye diseases and tested for glaucoma. The contacts I had been using were bothering me so he let me try a couple different pairs to see which ones I like the best. I now use Acuvue Oasys and love them! The dailies were by far the most comfortable but the Oasys were more in our budget. Dr. Neukirch also hooked me up with some fashionable frames... and when they flew off my head out the car window he gave me a discount on a replacement pair. We will continue to visit Dr. Neukirch for years to come. read more

Dr. Neukirch and his staff were wonderful with my 12 year old daughter! After having a bad experience trying contacts a couple of years ago, she was pretty hesitant. They were so competent and nurturing with the contact lens tutorial. She walked out with contacts. They had her inserting and removing her contacts like a champ after 30 minutes. Wonderful experience! The therapy dog, Lincoln, makes the experience even better! read more
