Its very easy to make appointments and communicate with the office and the staff is great. Dr. Frohm uses all of the modern technology to make sure you are getting a great exam - not just checking your vision but really the health of your eyes. But the best thing is that he has incredible 'bedside manner'. He explains everything he is testing and why its important and ultimately he treats decisions around your vision correction as a partnership. He advises me on how to balance my distance and reading options and walks through how different lenses might affect me. He's also never looking to 'sell' anything - he listens to the patient and simply makes recommendations. Plus, he's just a really nice person who has ties back to the area/community.

Had a huge misunderstanding and took it up with BCBS and will be cancelling that shitty insurance as they're contracting as well as with a few other insurance companies that look good on the surface. Everyone was super friendly and the new office staff girl was super laid back - the intern explained everything then Doc came in and did his thing. Think of a sporting event - he's there and on the spot. He comes in, does his thing - explains it all and lets the intern go from there. Due to the discrepancy with BCBS I footed the bill myself. He'd also take your old favorite lenses and replace them but remember if the frames are too old (just send pics in and go from there) then you're outta luck. He said about two (2) weeks as they're super busy, sending orders out to labs then other places to get the tints, etc.. Got a call today, end of the day before the holiday. Came in, popped the frames on and everything was perfect. Not sure why people are complaining on here. Doc is one of the top 5 if not top 3 eye docs on the North Shore; and he educates and teaches as well as covers sporting events and all sorts of interesting avenues. Talk about experience, there ya go. In the end I called BCBS today and laid into them. When I'd call to complain initially, they took the insurance complaint against the Doc when it was against BCBS. Called them today and told them to clean up their act, stop the lies and bullshit and drop this so-called claim and listen to the call as everything was documented wrong. BCBS IS horrible.

Between COVID and having an unreasonable stash of daily contacts, I put off my eye exam for longer than I should have. I really need new glasses, though, and had some urgency around spending HSA money that was rolled over during the pandemic. Scheduling was easy peasy - I made my appointment on the website and received a confirmation quickly, which included instructions on completing new patient paperwork online in advance. I received a text reminder of my appointment the day before. I was greeted right away, given a few additional forms to fill out, and then taken in back for initial testing. I waited in the lobby for a few minutes before my exam with Dr. Udesky. It was a brief wait and, honestly, the highlight of my day because I got to see how sweetly Dr. Udesky and his team interacted with the patient before me - a little girl who appeared to be four or five years old. She wanted her "eye pictures" to take home and they printed copies for her before sending her off with a fist bump. My exam was great and Dr. Udesky was friendly and warm. I asked a few questions about my current daily contacts, whether contacts or glasses would be better while staring at computer monitors all day, etc. He also gave me some helpful insight into my eye health relative to a medical condition and understanding long term care. I'd been on the fence about ordering glasses or going with an Internet retailer but, genuinely, Dr. Udesky offers competitive pricing (at least in this scenario where I was also committed to ordering contacts). Maria helped me choose frames and I'm excited for them to come in, particularly after years of being unhappy with my glasses from another retailer that bent and were misshapen almost immediately. She was knowledgeable, took my feedback into consideration, and selected the winning pair. I suppose I should mention that I don't have glasses or contacts in hand so this could change, but given how positive my experience was, I'm currently a happy customer and glad to support a local Northbrook doctor and his team. (For the record, I was also sent off with a fist bump and an elbow bump so that doesn't appear to be exclusively for the kids.) :)
