Amazing service, I had two eye exams booked for the same day, with my daughter's first cheerleading game on the day of the eye exams. I called to rebook one of my appointments telling the receptionist the situation. The receptionist put me on hold and said, Dr. Sam said he can see you both and will make sure your daughter is back for her game. Knowing that my daughter is going to need new glasses, because hers were broken, and a new prescription. I could not thank Dr. Sam and his amazing staff enough. I was happy with my eye exam, but Vision Care Specialists were not able to deliver progressive glasses that I could use for reading despite two attempts. I returned the glasses and received a refund. I was told to take my business elsewhere. At my first appointment I told Dr. Salituro that I was looking for a new prescription for contacts, and I'd like to get a new pair of progressive lens glasses. After my exam, they said my contacts prescription hasn't changed, and gave me trials for new contact lens brands to try. Those brands were more expensive than my current brand and supplier, so I made no change to my contacts. I ordered a pair of progressive glasses in Kenneth Cole REACTION frames with all the bells and whistles (transitions, anti-glare, expanded lens areas, etc.) for a total of $513 out-of-pocket. My new glasses arrived in two weeks. I made a second appointment to pick them up. Unfortunately, there were problems with the glasses. Although the frames were beautiful, when I tried to read, my vision was not clear, the letters were doubled, and I couldn't see what I was writing when I tried to email or text on my phone. They suffered by comparison with my 5 year old pair of progressive lenses. With my old glasses I have no problem reading, or writing on my phone. I found if I pushed the new glasses up the bridge of my nose up onto my forehead a little bit, then my vision came into focus, and I was able to read perfectly. However, holding my expensive new glasses up on my forehead is not an acceptable solution. I also noticed some distortion through the glasses that made round objects look oval, but I decided I would get used to that. Because I have to be able to read, I made a third appointment to return the glasses. At this appointment, Dr. Salituro started by explaining to me how he had placed the order for my lenses. I asked, "May I explain to you the problem I'm having?" I described my problem, and he took new measurements with a ruler. He said he had trouble making the measurement because of my height (I'm 6 feet tall). He said he would call me when the new glasses came in. Two weeks later his office called, and I made my fourth appointment to pick up corrected glasses. I had the exact same problem with the glasses - no change. My vision was only clear if I pushed them up onto my forehead. Maria from their office told me, "Let's call it quits." She said, if I return the glasses, they will refund my money, and I can get my glasses somewhere else. I returned the glasses, I received my refund, and I will gladly go somewhere else. No one from Vision Care Specialists ever apologized for the trouble, nor acknowledged that they had made any kind of mistake. read more

2016 I had my first visit here when I lived just a few miles away. Blown away by the amazingness of the staff members and or course Dr.Sam himself. Now I've moved all the way to Evanston and I still come here because they are so great. The people at this specialist center do actually care about you and your health, and are always upfront with how much you're paying. They will always tell you if there is a better and more economical choice, even if that meant them not making as much. I'm gonna miss this place as I'm moving away. So I called to make an appointment for my son who broke his glasses and they were able to take him in that same day! How great is that! My son was also able to get his new glasses a few hours later! This place is AMAZING!!!! The staff is outstanding. The selection is great, and the prices are reasonable too. You feel like family. Talk about going above and beyond.... I had an emergency situation where I lost my glasses and needed a new pair asap to drive across the country. I had been going to Visionary Eye Care for years but since relocating to the suburbs, I didn't want to make the drive to the city anymore. I'm pleasantly surprised to find these guys so close to my house. Thorough exam with the latest in eye care technology and a great selection of eyeglasses. New to the area, I was looking for a new eye doctor my family could go to and my husband raved about this location and decided to try them out. The staff working there was was friendly and helpful. It's easier to get an appointment during the week and you might be placed on a waitlist if you're aiming for a Saturday. With Saturday my only option, I waited for the call to get my appointment confirmed. When you're in the waiting area, they have a TV with an eye informational video on top and a child play table if you have kids. While I was waiting, I toured the eye and sunglasses they have on display. I had Dr. Dave that day and she was amazing; better than the doctor I had in Jersey! During each exam, she went over what each exam was for and went over all of the results with me so I understood everything. I was also purchasing contacts and she went over all of my options and concisely answered all of my questions. I work with a lot of doctors and I'm happy she's dedicated to her patient care. I can't wait to be back next year to see her. read more

Great experience here! I had an accident involving my left eye. They took me in the same day I called them. they ran a battery of tests, and were very thorough. The staff was friendly and front desk very organized and efficient. They seem to have a lot of clients, but I didn't even wait long despite being an unplanned visit. I am very nervouse about touching my eyes and did not look forward to my consultation. I've been going here for over 10+ years. The place is super clean all the time and it has a great setup. They've tons of glasses to choose from and they also have a section for non brand name glasses which are a lot cheaper. I bought some and they're still good after 2+ years. I continue going here for my annual checkup and I've always loved going to the eye doctor. Everyone makes you feel very welcomed and makes sure that everything goes smoothly. I never had any issues of service when going here. They do make you feel like family which is awesome since not a lot of places do that for their clients. As a new Illinois resident, I have a hard time switching dr's from back home, but it is becoming impossible to travel and coordinate appointments when I am home. I called on a Wednesday, and was able to get an appointment for the Saturday the same week! When I arrived I was greeted right away and by very friently staff! The office is new, and very clean and kept up! All the employees are uniformed, which I believe shows organization, class and professionalism! My glasses broke. Both hinges were very slightly bent, and one hinge had lost its screw. They are the spring loaded kind which are a huge pain to reconnect. I brought them in here because I was in the area, but had never been here before. There's a sign on the desk that says $5 minimum for repairs to glasses not sold by them. Well, I bought these glasses in Texas, before I moved to Chicagoland. But I was ready to pay, since these are great glasses and I needed them to be wearable. Well, after several friendly and informative updates, over the space of half an hour, with several people all making attempts at an annoyingly fussy repair, my glasses were back in my hands, fixed, clean, sturdy and ready to wear. "How much do I owe you?" I knew it'd be at least $5, but figured half an hour from three or four employees would cost a good bit more. "Nothing. Just, you know, next time you need glasses..." Yep. You've won me over. Good work, multiple friendly people, clear communication, and a free repair? Five stars. read more

The staff at VCS has gotten to know us well over the years and treats us like friends or family. They were so friendly and helpful! The doctor put me at ease during the exam and never got impatient when I struggled to hold my eyelids open for the lights and drops. When I said I'd rather keep my frames than replace them, they located and helped me order an identical set so I wouldn't be without glasses while the new lenses were fitted. Very helpful and thorough walking me through all my options, benefits plan, and final cost to me. They even made sure I understood my prescription and what it meant before I left. I couldn't have been more pleased by the service and care I received. Update: the lenses they provided me scratched easily. Recently went for an eye appointment after things started getting a little blurry. Met with two of the doctors. Great experience! Everything was explained clearly. The exam was thorough. They also researched a specialist and called the next day with the information. Office staff was very friendly. I had a lot of help choosing frames, which was great because I had no idea what I was doing. Other patients walking in seemed to know the staff and were greeted warmly. Very neighborly and cute. The parking lot is easily accessible and the building is clearly markd and easy to find. Very reasonable hours, they seem to understand that not everyone can come in for an appt at 10am on a Tuesday. The office is very clean, equipment is up to date, large selection of frames. Would recommend for eye care needs. read more

I have been going to see Sam and Dr. Kohn for years now. My father and I both have been patients here, and they are truly a wonderful group of people. My dad travels a lot and the staff(especially Gloria) have gone above and beyond to work with my dad's schedule and provide the contacts/glasses and care that he needed when he needed it. Even now, I continue to go here for all of my vision needs even though is it well over an hour away. Sam and Dr. Kohn are very thorough and they both want their patients to understand what is going on as well as provide insight and explanation to what they are looking for in regards to the images that they take of your eye. Dr. Kohn is seriously the best! I went there last July for exam for contacts and glasses, the staff are so courteous and very polite. They always greet you and are very friendly. I was given the best service and 100% attended to. I have had issues with my contacts and Dr. Kohn has been so accommodating and very helpful in trying to get me the correct lenses and make sure I am comfortable in my lenses. He has seen me multiple times and always followed up and been so patient and understanding whenever I had an issue. All in all I love this place!
