Absolutely the best best best choice when the end of your pet's life is approaching. Dr. Kelly was amazing helping us with such a hard decision. They administer an initial drug that makes your pet feel very calm and happy before they start anything else. They take the time to make sure your pet is so relaxed, calm, and happy in their last moments. I've had my personal vet come to the house to do this with other dogs, but Caring Pathways is way better. read more

We used Caring Pathways when our lab was suffering from cancer and it got to the point we couldn't keep her comfortable any more. My husband and I said goodbye as they fell asleep, and then walked the walk we used to take when she was healthy. Today, I lost my Cody. He was my buddy, my exercise motivator, my very steady and true friend, and my protector from all things "squirrel". Cody had developed a sinus infection that never got better despite multiple antibiotics. He then got diabetes and went blind. All of this happened in 5 short months. He was able to take his last breaths in his own yard, under the blossoms of the wild rose bush - with the birds singing, the sun shining, and a cool breeze blowing. It is never easy to loose a family member - our pets are our children. But when I called to make arrangements for my in-laws sweet black lab, Ozzie, I was impressed from the second that I spoke with someone. Everyone is so caring and kind. A vet was arranged to come about an hour after I called. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Megan Coveyou. From the moment she walked in the door she had a calming sense about her. Ozzie went right over to her and was immediately comfortable in her presence. The entire process, while incredibly sad, was peaceful and respectful. We had our time with him before she gently placed him on the stretcher and so nicely wrapped him in a blanket for transport. I truly can't say enough about how this experience was for us. I honestly believe this is the best way for our fur-children to cross over the rainbow bridge, in the comfort of their home with those they love. Caring Pathways is the absolute best. This was the hardest thing Ive ever had to do. I was so comforted to know my dog was at home in his bed safe and sound with me when he passed. After speaking with Kimberly at Caring Pathways & sensing the compassion & honesty in our conversation, Marion came to our house & was so very professional, caring, kind & thoughtful of us & our Muffy. I have had to put down so many of my precious pets over the years & if I had known this service existed, everyone of them would have had this same incredible compassionate treatment. Their price includes the visit & cremation services and what I thought was an extra special touch, was the fact that Marion even offered to contact Muffy's other vets, groomer etc for us if we requested her to do this on our behalf. If there were an option for zero stars, I would have gone with that but I guess a "1" will have to do. Our cat, Valera had cardiomyopathy and had an attack of heart failure. He stabilized briefly but it soon became clear that he was taking a turn for the worse and the time had come to say good-bye. I called Caring Pathways that morning to look into their services and by about 1:00pm was calling them back to have someone come in for the euthanasia. We agreed on 2:30pm for the appointment but Valera's situation rapidly deteriorated so I called them back to change it to just getting to us as soon as possible. They said they would try to have someone out there by 1:45, but no guarantees. So we wait, he's gasping and struggling to breathe the whole time. Around 2 we get a phone call saying the vet should be there in 20 mins. By this time it seems like a long time to wait and he is clearly suffering but what can you do? The vet can't just teleport here. 2:20pm arrives and we get another call from the vet saying she is in our neighborhood and needs guidance to our house. But no, wait, she isn't in our neighborhood. She's actually in friggin' Thornton (we live in east Aurora). It quickly becomes clear that they got us mixed up with some other client. Vet tells dispatch and dispatch calls us back, trying to explain the mix-up, trying to figure when they might be able to get someone out there. Meanwhile we have been watching our cat suffer for an hour and 20 minutes at this point and I am on the phone listening to them babble about what went wrong as my cat is literally taking his last breaths (he died within 1 minute of me telling them I had to go and hanging up). It was my job to comfort him in his last moments and instead I am half distracted by people wasting my time with their incompetence. Valera suffered for an hour and 25 minutes, gasping for breath, between bouts of screaming and convulsing in pain and I could just sit there and watch, pleading for something, someone to help him but I couldn't do anything for him, just sit helpless, driven at one point to wondering if there wasn't anyway I could put him out of his misery myself to end his suffering. I still hear his dying screams in my head. Granted, the situation deteriorated very fast and I am understanding of that, you can only do so much to get there as quickly as possible, but the wild goose chase/administrative screw up that kept him suffering far longer than he should have had to is completely unacceptable. Their entire job is about helping people say a very painful good bye to beloved friends - this is one place where you don't screw up. Valera deserved better and I'll live in guilt forever knowing that. read more

On a Saturday my dog was running and playing, on Sunday he was laying around and not eating, on Monday we found out he had spleen and liver cancer and would not make it much longer. A friend told me about home euthanizing, I started looking, not at prices but at reviews. My baby needed to be with us comfortable and relaxed. I could not drive him to a vet, let him walk the stressful walk to not come home. I picked Caring Pathways. I want to thank everyone from the people taking the calls and questions especially since I cried the entire time and they were patient to the experience that Dr. Kary Walters helped us through. She sincerely cared about us and Gage. She explained everything and allowed us time to spend with Gage both before and after. Gage's sister Lady was with us, she even went through what to watch for with her in the following days. This was the best way for us and Gage to say goodbye and make sure it was as relaxed as possible for him. Thank You Dr. Walters for the card it arrived on the day we picked up Gage and brought him home. I highly recommend Caring Pathway, I would not have changed a thing in the process from start to finish, they helped us and Gage. read more

It has taken me awhile to write this review because every time I started it I would cry. We had to put our 11-year-old great dane Sam to sleep at the end of July. She could barely walk and weighed 150 pounds. In addition to that, we knew a trip to the vet would really upset her. My husband Googled in home euthanasia and without knowing anything about Caring Pathways we took a chance and made an appointment the same day. Dr. Larry came to our house and from beginning to end he was amazing. The only way I know how to describe it is he made us feel loved, I can honestly say before him I never felt loved by a complete stranger. If you have to make the extremely hard decision to put your sweet animal down please use Caring Pathways; they will take care of you and your animal every step of the way. If anyone is reading this trying to make that decision, I'm sorry for your sadness and wish you healing. read more

I really wanted to give these folks 5 stars and I don't believe in negative reviews as I find them to be bad for society, however I did try to resolve this with someone named Kimberly at Caring Pathways and she blew me off with a disingenuous "sorry" and nothing more, so here's my review. I had read about Caring Pathways and felt they were the right company to hire when my cat was at the end of her life. I give 4 stars to the Vet who came to my home. She was compassionate, kind and knowledgeable, but apparently for whatever reason decided not to write down the name of my Vet and wrote down the name of another random Vet I had never been to (hence why she gets 4 and not 5 stars). She also told me my cat's ashes would be delivered to the Foothills Animal Shelter which is close to my home, yet the ashes were not delivered there. They were delivered to this Vet's office (also called Foothills but in another part of town) that I had never been to. This created a very stressful and upsetting morning as I went to the animal shelter to pick up my cat's ashes, only to be told "we don't have them." I was sent on a wild goose chase at an already stressful and upsetting time, which was very unfair to me. To make matters worse, Caring Pathways called me a few days after my cat died to confirm where the ashes were going and I said, "I was told Foothills Animal Shelter" and nobody corrected me or said otherwise (the person I spoke with was Kimberly). Just please be warned that Caring Pathways dropped the ball in my case so make 100% sure you know where your pet's ashes are going when you opt to pay more to have them returned to you and not only triple-check but get them to put it in writing! I didn't care for the way Kimberly dropped the ball and then tried to brush it all off as if Caring Pathways was not to blame for the misinformation and confusion, which is frankly shameful and unacceptable. read more

My 15 year-old best friend, soul mate Mister got sick, or at least starting acting sick, very suddenly. He was seeming fine one day and not well the next. I took him to the vet the weekend before Christmas and he ended up having a seizure while at the vet. They gave me some meds and I took him home to see if the meds would get him feeling better. He ended up having more seizures that night and his health declined even further...and I had a feeling that his time was coming to an end. I called Caring Pathways around 5 am and spoke to their on-call vet who talked me through things and we both decided that putting Mister down was the best decision. Dr. Mike Brodt was the vet that ended up coming out and performing the procedure. I was a blubbering mess and he was very professional yet caring and patient. Explained everything to me so that there would be no surprises. He was so compassionate and really helped me through the most difficult time and decision of my life. It was definitely the best option for the worst time in my life. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. My Mister was able to pass away in his Mom's arms, on our own terms and in the peace of our own home. I was even given a book about grieving the loss of your pet....and it was a heaven sent! Such a great book that helped me grieve, heal, and write down all my memories of Mister. I would highly recommend them to anyone that has to go through this in the future! read more

I wish I could give this company 10 stars. I do not have enough good things to say. I had to say goodbye to my cat and best friend of 18 years and could not have done it without Caring Pathways. The doctor was so compassionate and it was very special to be able to have my girl's last moments spent on her favorite couch. They gave me as much time as I needed and the doctor made me feel like my kitty was one of a kind and extra special. After Petunia had crossed the Rainbow Bridge the doctor waited outside while I said goodbye and came back with a beautiful basket and blanket to wrap her in. Everything from there on out was taken care of and I got her ashes and pawprint back way sooner than I expected. The icing on the cake was the book about grieving your animals that I never thought I would use but once the grief and reality struck that book helped IMMENSELY. I have recommended this company to several friends since and they all had the same beautiful experience. read more

On 5/9/14 we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our Golden/Cocker mix named Owen to sleep. An old co-worker of mine recommended Caring Pathways to me since she has used them for four of her dogs when I told her our baby boy was sick with cancer. We called Caring Pathways in the morning and Dr. Danielle Rope arrived about an hour later. She talked with us and explained the process and made us feel comfortable with making the decision we did. She was kind and caring and you could tell that she really cared about what she does. Everything was thoroughly explained to us. We were able to put our baby to sleep in his favorite spot on our bed with his favorite toys/babies all while we were comforting him. I liked the fact that they give them a sedative before the Euthanasia because he pretty much just fell asleep before anything else happened so that he wouldn't feel anything and would be at peace. It was such a peaceful moment and I am so glad we made the decision to go with Caring Pathways. I was nervous about the individual cremation, but Danielle let me know that they use a small cremation center in Wheat Ridge that is very cautious and caring with making sure that individual cremations are individual and that you get your pets remains. We did that and got a clay paw print as well to memorialize him. It hasn't even been a week and I received his ashes and paw print today from our vet, which they delivered to them for us to pick up. With all of our pets, going forward, we will be using Caring Pathways for the end of life process. I can't thank them enough for making us feel at ease with everything and making that day so much easier than we were anticipating. Thank you Dr. Rope for being so caring and understanding. After our local vet confirmed what we had suspected and suggested that it was time for us to say goodbye to our precious family cat, I sought a referral for an in-home euthanasia service. I cannot be more pleased with the level of empathy, compassion and genuine thoughtfulness of Dr. Megan who performed the service. She spent time with us reviewing the steps and even talking to Lucky (our cat.) She spoke in a somber and soft voice which helped to instill calm during the naturally stressful situation. She spoke to our other younger cat and even suggested that he have the opportunity to say goodbye as animals grieve too. After our little Lucky passed, she left the room to give us our last few moments alone with our baby. When she returned she had a nice basket with a blanket that she used to wrap Lucky's body, leaving only his head exposed. This was when our other cat finally got up and walked over to sniff the "kitty casket" and say his goodbye. Despite how sad the situation was, Dr. Megan from Caring Pathways made the whole process as comforting and peaceful as possible. I would highly recommend this in-home service and Caring Pathways to anyone facing this painful and inevitable decision.. read more
