So on one occasion, the regular caregiver found him on Monday a.m. in his living room asleep on the floor in the fetal position, with the same clothes on that he had on Friday. Clothes obviously completely soiled. The caregiver from Goodcare basically did nothing, while I paid well over $500 for the privilege. But, I realize things happen and I called Goodcare to let them know. They were nice enough and said they would take care of it. Several weeks later, the same thing happened. And of course they billed me for the privilege. So I called again, and told them I couldn't use them any more - I actually need someone to TAKE CARE of my dad on the weekends. Like shower him, change him, tuck him in. The kind of stuff that home care agencies are supposed to do. Jo Beth assured me she would speak with the owner and that he would contact me. I also asked if there was anything they could do about my bill, since I am paying for SERVICE that was never performed. She assured me that SOMETHING would be done and that I would hear from someone soon. Three weeks later, I've heard nothing but crickets. Sorry folks, but as far as I'm concerned, Goodcare is actually "No Care." And you pay $25 an hour minimum for "no care." Good day.

Can't say I have been impressed with their services, communications or billing…read more Let's start with services. . .if you can call it that. On two separate occasions we had two different care givers leave during the middle of the night stating that they had a sick child at home. Sorry, but your job does not afford you the luxury of leaving during your shift, especially at night. Can you imagine the terror a senior would feel waking up to a stranger, especially during the night. There were a couple of care providers that would perform the duties Caring Senior Services said they were to do, but the majority would rather sit on the couch, watch TV or play with their cell phones. Several times my mother would be calling from the bedroom. My sister or I would have to get the care provider's attention and tell them she was calling. Imagine what it would be like if we were not there to monitor what was taking place. Punctuality is another issue. A care giver leaving on time was never an issue. Showing up on time was another story. Several times the care giver would be anywhere from 15 minutes late up to an hour late. Many times, a care giver would leave before their relief showed up. Once, one care giver had to take the night shift care giver home because she had no transportation. Thirty minutes of services billed but not received. My sister and I were still with my mother and were able to fill in the gaps. This is likely not the case for most seniors requiring their services. Smoking is another problem. None smoked in the home, however the lingering odor on them does not go away. More than a few times my mother would require their help. They would either be outside or in their car smoking. My mother requires assistance getting up and down. This fact was documented on Caring Senior Service's printout paperwork. So who does Caring Senior Service send as a care giver? One who had a workman's compensation back injury and another who was recovering from a broken pelvis and still using a cane to get around. We called Caring Senior Services immediately. Which brings us to the billing issues we have had with Caring Senior Services. Check any bills from them carefully. My mother was charged for hours, not worked, from the two of the care givers who left during the night and for all the 15, 30, 45 60 plus minutes a care giver was late. Additionally, we were billed an hour for the care giver using the cane, when we specifically told them we were not going to pay for that hour, which we were billed for. Bottom line . . .Senior Caring Service is NOT a company I would recommend, especially if you are not in the senior's home to monitor what is actually going on.

The person calling you back is not necessarily the nurse in charge of the patient you called about. Did not respond to patient issues when he fell and hit his head causing the facility to call an ambulance and send him to BSA (over 10 times).

HOWEVER, the quality of day to day care was absolutely horrible and frightening for my mom and my daughter who stayed with her the first 6 days of her care. After day one, my mom wanted to leave by day two she was so determined to leave she went above and beyond what PT and OT were asking her to do so she could get out asap. She went in on a Monday and left that Thursday the same week. She really needed 2 weeks of care after a major abdominal surgery. In addition to poor care, their food was something from the 1950's - a lot fried, greasy, salty food and sugary desserts!! My mom had 2 feet of her small intestines taken out and needed to be on a diet that was completely the opposite of what they served. My mom eats healthy foods and needed a lactose-free, gluten-free, low sodium, no sugar diet and this place could not meet her dietary needs. I could not believe the type of unhealthy food they served the elderly. Thankfully my daughter was there to advocate for her. Unfortunately, the staff did not care. Multiple times they got my mom's food wrong, even after we were told it would be changed. I even had some food delivered from the local grocery store that would meet her dietary needs and they still got it wrong. Multiple times, my daughter was the one helping her to the bathroom, giving her a shower, and getting her the food she needed. My daughter should have been the one getting paid because she did the majority of their work for them. Housekeeping, especially in the bathrooms, was not sanitary. If my daughter had not been there, I truly believe my mother's health would have declined because she would not have been able to eat, she would not have been able to get to the bathroom in time or have a clean bathroom to do her business, and they would have just kept her doped up on meds. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I rate Five Points the absolute best ; head and shoulders above all the others in the city. This type of work is extremely challenging as you have hundreds of patients and each with unique demands and challenges. Their professional staff care for each patient with genuine interest and concern. If there is something being missed and the patient or their sponsors will communicate that need to the staff, they will take care of the issue in a timely and professional manner-- with a welcoming attitude and a smile. The upbeat, positive attitude of the employees is one of the primary attributes that sets them apart from other facilities . The exercise staff is truly the best. They work to help the patients improve physically and mentally , and they do it in a manner that makes the patients feel important. They don't just go through the motions in their workouts; as much as the physical challenges they provide, they provided warmth and emotional encouragement at the same time. If the patients want help and want to improve, they will get what they need from these professionals. The food is excellent and the dining room is always bright and extremely clean. If you ask they, will adjust food requests to your taste and needs. The entire facility is kept clean and spotless and even the cleaning and support staff have a positive and helpful attitude. They host daily games, challenges, entertainments to help improve the spirits of all the patients that want to participate. When my time comes Five Points is were I'll get checked in ; I've seen almost every facility in Amarillo. The challenge is to go visit a facility before you get yourself are someone you love admitted.
