I reviewed the information on carsunlimited.com and honestly thought it was too good to be true. I am happy to say the entire experience exceeded my expectations. The quality of the vehicle, the ease of buying, and the level of service throughout the process and afterward were above and beyond. Allen, Jamie, and Justin are exceptional. As time has passed, a couple of typical things have come up with the vehicle, and the support I've received has been outstanding. In a world where getting straightforward, honest information is rare, Cars Unlimited has been a dependable foundation I can trust. Their commitment doesn't end at the sale -- and that ongoing support has been truly invaluable. Choosing them remains one of the best decisions I've made.

I have been a customer of Toyota of Tampa Bay since 2013, and happy until my last interaction,…read morewhich was a purchase of a 2026 bZ. I bought my first car from them in 2013, a Camry. The salesman, Alan Brodsky, was excellent. He was informative and helped with a military discount. No wonder that he was perpetually their salesman of the year. My second purchase from them was replacement Camry in 2023. Alan had retired, but a woman who had worked with him was my salesperson and seemed to work in Alan's style, low pressure and helpful. In the last week of May 2026, I brought my 2023 Camry in for a free car wash. While I was waiting, the woman who had been my salesperson in 2023 came by and said hello. TBH, I didn't recognize her, but my memory isn't so good after age 70. I told her that I was just here for a wash, but was thinking about an electric car replacement for my wife's Subaru 2016, since we had just gotten solar panels on our home. She showed me bZ and I asked if I wanted to drive it. As my Camry was not out of the wash yet, I said sure and went for a drive. Then they wanted to sit down and sell it to me. I said no, I was just here for a car wash and just was talking while waiting for the car to get washed. Also, I would have to consult with my wife since it's would be her car, and I don't even know if she wants to give up the Subaru. They asked me if I wanted to drive the car to my home and have my wife look at it and drive it. I called her, got her OK, and I said OK. She did like the car. Then we came back and again the pressure was really high to buy it right then. I told them that I didn't research this at all. Normally prior to buying a car I would look at reviews, find the dealer's invoice price, find trade-in values for the Subaru, and when my research was all done, I would come in in the last day of the month, which is when dealerships bargain the most. Despite all that, the next thing I know I was in the room with the person to do the sale. Perhaps I could describe her as a very effective salesperson. Or, someone who was took advantage of a 73-year-old whose judgment and executive function may not be as good as it used to be. I never knew what the dealer's invoice price was. I didn't know until later what the Subaru trade-in would be on Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book. When I walked out, I couldn't have told you what the cost of the car was that I just purchased. Normally there are some negotiations back and forth, and the salesperson has to go back to the manager in the rear. The only such thing was her asking if there was anything she could do that would sweeten the deal. I said how about extending the warranty on my 2023. She said she'd never heard of extending the warranty on a different car then the one being purchased, but the manager approved it. We never talked about invoice prices or military discount. All in all, I'm happy with the car but just not happy with the sales experience On another issue, the bZ has a lot of display options. I think that Toyota should have an expert in operating the car sit down with you for 20 minutes and go through important operating issues. Of course, it's all in the manual. But it's a big manual. One of the things that they should have warned you about, but didn't, is that a Li-ion battery should not be charged to 100% routinely. Just like in cell phones, which tells you that you should charge only to 80% most of the time to maximize battery life, the charge on the traction battery should be kept between 20% and 80%, except for the occasional long trip where you need to charge it to 100%. This is not noted prominently anywhere. I research it online. I called the Toyota service department and they had no idea if limiting the charging to 80% was recommended, nor how to limit the charging. I found it in the manual and you can set the charge limit to 80% or whatever you want. They need to have somebody sit down and take you through the car everything from charging issues like this, to adjusting the height of the tailgate, to customizing the seat and mirror positions to the two drivers using both facial recognition or keys.

My 80-year-old stepfather, Tom. a Vietnam combat veteran, handled all of the negotiations. I only signed the paperwork because I trusted that everything had been honestly disclosed to him. Afterward, I discovered that an almost $3,000 Premium Protection Plus (PPP) package had been bundled into the vehicle price. This was an optional product yet it was never clearly disclosed during negotiations. Had we known, we would have negotiated completely differently and may never have purchased the vehicle. The vehicle also had multiple areas of damage. When I filed my BBB complaint, Carly McCall, Executive Assistant, told me the dealership knew about damage before selling me the vehicle, that it had not been certified, and that the damage was supposed to be repaired before the sale. I have filed complaints with the BBB and FLHSMV and am looking into additional complaints regarding the treatment of an 80-year-old Vietnam combat veteran. This is not how an honest dealership should conduct business. Customers deserve transparency- not hidden optional products and vehicles sold before known issues are properly addressed. I strongly caution anyone considering Toyota of Tampa Bay.

Within only two days, the vehicle began idling roughly, the check engine light came on, and my sister noticed a strong oil smell and oil leaking around the engine. We gave the dealership an opportunity to fix the vehicle. They claimed the problem was the fuel injectors, said they repaired them, and returned the vehicle to my sister, telling her it was "good to go." That same day, smoke began coming from under the hood. The following day, heavy smoke entered the vehicle through the air-conditioning system while my sister and her newborn daughter were inside. This was dangerous and completely unacceptable. I had Midas perform a diagnostic inspection, and they found oil leaking from several locations, including the valve cover, timing cover, oil pan, rear main seal, and oil cooler housing. Their technician specifically documented that these were "not fresh oil leaks" and that the vehicle had been leaking for quite some time. Despite this, the dealership refused to take responsibility, provide a refund, or cover the necessary repairs. I am including photos of the oil leaks because people deserve to see the condition of the vehicle we were sold. Returning the vehicle after an unsuccessful repair and saying it was safe to drive put my sister and newborn niece in a dangerous situation. Based on our experience, I would never purchase another vehicle from Hillsborough Auto Sales, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

This time, however, I am extremely disappointed with how Finance handled my loan. I specifically asked whether my credit union had been contacted. One finance representative told me they had "a special line for weekend purchases." Later, I was told my credit union was closed. Those two explanations obviously contradicted each other. They presented financing through another lender, and I accepted it. That part is on me. The next day, my salesperson reassured me that Finance said we could check with my credit union Monday and switch the financing if necessary as again, my credit union was closed. They would call me. Monday came. No callback. I went there in person and was told it was too late, the deal was done. I then called my credit union myself. My approval had been there all along. Because of this, I lost a slightly lower interest rate, an additional promotion, and the ability to keep my auto loan with my own bank. Refinancing now means additional costs, and I have to wait. Everyone was extremely nice throughout the process, but being nice does not make misinformation acceptable. Maybe they saw an older woman they thought wouldn't question things. Who knows. What I do know is that I was given conflicting and inaccurate information that benefited the dealership's financing arrangement, not me. I initially thought, "I should have asked more questions." No. I DID ask. This could have been avoided if I had simply been told the truth. Transparency is everything. Unfortunately, this experience changed my opinion of Maus completely. I would not purchase another vehicle there or recommend them. I'll still have to return for my included oil changes, but I truly thought this dealership was different. I was wrong.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience…read more I was shopping for a 2026 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hybrid and spent several days working with Tampa Honda. I was quoted $32.6k out the door on the exact vehicle I wanted. After I followed up, the sales manager, Cody, told me the price had been quoted in error. To his credit, he said the dealership would still honor the price because it had already been offered. The only thing I asked for before making the drive was a buyer's order or itemized quote so I could review exactly what I would be paying for. I wasn't asking for a lower price or trying to renegotiate the deal. I simply wanted the agreed-upon numbers in writing before making one of the biggest purchases of my life. A buyer's order is designed to outline the vehicle, price, taxes, fees, and warranties so customers know exactly what they're agreeing to before signing. Instead of providing the paperwork, I was ultimately told the dealership was no longer willing to honor the deal because I asked for it in writing. That is what made this experience so disappointing. Asking to review an itemized quote before spending over $32,000 should be a common expectation for anyone spending their hard-earned money on a vehicle. Wanting to know exactly what you're paying for shouldn't cost you the deal. Throughout the conversation, I was repeatedly told the dealership values honesty and integrity. Unfortunately, my experience didn't reflect that. Refusing to provide a written quote and then rescinding the deal simply because I requested one felt incredibly unprofessional and left me questioning the transparency of the entire process. In the end, I walked away because I value transparency just as much as price. Based on my experience, this dealership came across as very shady and not nearly as honest or transparent as they want customers to believe. There are plenty of dealerships that understand customers deserve to review the numbers before committing to a purchase, and that's where I'll be taking my business. I recommend you also do the same.
