What a gem! Yeah, yeah, I know. Another Mexican joint.... but this one has a few things going for it, but mainly, they have nailed the balance of price and quality to make a great value. My daughter and I both had the tacos dinner (steak) and they were great! The dinner coming in at under $20 for the two of us. The taste and quantity was spot on. Next time I am going to try the burrito. I saw one of those bad boys on another table and the outside was toasted to a golden perfection. Another positive is the fact it is obviously family owned, with the whole immediate family pitching in. Cool! Small place, limited seating, bit clean and delicious! Great job Sr Alex. We will be back for sure. Yum!

I love this place!! Their service is great, the food comes out fast and the food is always amazing! They have the place decorated so vibrantly and the colors and paintings just make me smile! You can't not smile with the vibrant colors!! I have yet to have a bad trip here!

Great food. Casual dining. Varied menu. If your looking for a filling meal in a casual dining room with good prices stop here! Many patrons place to go orders and pick up. Salsa could be spicier for my taste and chips were a bit in the greasy side. Overall I'd come back.

Three fish taco dinner..Out of this world good!!

One minute from my home and was getting tired of the inconsistency in quality with Tacos El Norte...Had the fish taco dinner and a steak burrito, horchata...The fish tacos are fried perfectly and garnished with this diced tomato and jalapeno mix (gives the taco a satisfying kick but foesn't overwhelm the taco or your tastebuds) shredded cabbage/coleslaw and is THE BEST fish taco I've ever had..wow....I have no other words..looking forward to trying the Baja Burrito (fish burrito) next. The steak burrito isn't as huge as most other steak burritos available at other area places but the wonderful flavors and quality absolutely outweighs the small difference in size..Wonderful!! The horchata is as good if not slightly better than other horchatas in the area. the prices are very reasonable for the quality..I now have a new favorite place!..The owners (I didn't catch the lady's name...the warm hospitality they give their customers is first rate..so friendly and they take pride in their restaurant and the food. The refried beans are good but nothing spectacular as well as the rice..Standard fare but not bad at all..Don't let this discourage you from eating here..Still good sides! The rojo and verde sauces are good too..the red has some kick...Love it..the verde is milder but still has tons of flavor..finished a whole cup of it on the steak burrito :) UPDATED: Skip the chile relleno burritos and tacos unless you like a lot of seeds..nearly inedible. The baja burrito was pretty good too..Had to lower my star rating from 5 to 4.

Newest mexican restaurant in Round Lake. They have standard items, tacos, burritos etc. Coctel de Camarones was flavorful but needs more shrimp if you're charging $11.95. Service was attentive. Ricardo does a good job even when it got busy. I'll update next time we visit and get to try different items in the menu.

New owners. New name. As of 2 months it is now Alex's Mexican Restaurant. The food got better! Try Baja burrito with fish - outstanding! Fish tacos, shrimp tacos, fajitas - all very good. The price is great too. Highly recommend.

Great food and great service…read more We've been here several times and they always nail it. This time we had a Beef Burrito, Tongue taco and a taco salad. Everything came out quickly and hot. Flavor is really good. Tacos have lots of meat and perfect. Highly recommended.

We were invited to seat ourselves and did so; we were attended almost immediately by a friendly, personable waitress who took our drink orders. Our drinks arrived very quickly as well as a plate of tortilla crisps and a small bowl of salsa; the salsa was excellent, with a good, home-made flavour and a terrific 'kick' to it (but not too hot). I enjoyed it very much, and told the waitress this as well. Due to the cold weather, I ordered a hot coffee, which arrived in a very beautifully decorated mug; it arrived very quickly as well. The waitress commented on the mug and, again, was very friendly and personable. Our orders arrived VERY quickly, in less than five minutes; I ordered the steak tacos and they were DELICIOUS. Full of flavour and served with cilantro, onion, lettuce, and tomato (and not too much of this) and on soft flour tortillas. I ordered three; I should have ordered more! The tacos were served with several different salsas, including a habanero which was wonderful and a salsa verde which was not as spicy but still had a great flavour/kick to it. . (small comment: I am partial to hot, spicy food so I really liked this) . We had two (2) different waitresses; both stopped by the table several times to ask how our meal was and if we wanted anything else. The waitresses kept my water glass filled, and with plenty of ice! The restaurant is clean and simply designed; the food was excellent and I will certainly come back again!

Fresh chips and salsa were brought out as we were seated. Then we were surprised to be served a complimentary macaroni and chicken soup that is served to all diners. The soup was very flavorful with just a hint of spice. For entrees we enjoyed the succulent roasted chicken which had a yummy seasoning and was perfectly roasted. Portions are gigantic! The tortillas they served with it tasted like homemade fluffy clouds. I also enjoyed the grilled knob onions and roasted jalapeños that accompanied the chicken. My companion had the chicken enchiladas with salsa verde. Equally delicious. The green sauce served with the enchiladas was excellent. The service was very attentive and gave us several drink refills. We will definitely be back again soon for another dinner!
