The steak tacos were fabulous! Every bite had a slight crunch on the exterior of the juicy well seasoned meat. I tried a new beer based on the owner, Salvador's recommendation. A light beer called Pacifico. Very nice refreshing beer without the bitterness like other Mexican beer offering. This is in a strip mall but don't let that discourage you. What a gem! Yeah, yeah, I know. Another Mexican joint.... but this one has a few things going for it, but mainly, they have nailed the balance of price and quality to make a great value. My daughter and I both had the tacos dinner (steak) and they were great! The dinner coming in at under $20 for the two of us. The taste and quantity was spot on. Next time I am going to try the burrito. I saw one of those bad boys on another table and the outside was toasted to a golden perfection. Another positive is the fact it is obviously family owned, with the whole immediate family pitching in. Cool! Small place, limited seating, bit clean and delicious! Great job Sr Alex. I was craving tacos and this placed DELIVERED! I couldn't decide so I order two of each of the following, steak, chicken, pork and ground beef, thinking I'd eat half and save the other half for the next day. Well, they were so darn good I ate all 8, NO RAGRETS! My only disappointment was that I ordered guacamole and by the time I got home I found out they forgot to put it in the bag with the rest of the food. The tacos were so good I didn't even mind! A nice surprise were the two sauces they put with the order. I've always been partial to the green sauce and I didn't think I'd like the spicier red sauce, and man, was I wrong! One minute from my home and was getting tired of the inconsistency in quality with Tacos El Norte...Had the fish taco dinner and a steak burrito, horchata...The fish tacos are fried perfectly and garnished with this diced tomato and jalapeno mix (gives the taco a satisfying kick but foesn't overwhelm the taco or your tastebuds) shredded cabbage/coleslaw and is THE BEST fish taco I've ever had..wow....I have no other words..looking forward to trying the Baja Burrito (fish burrito) next. The steak burrito isn't as huge as most other steak burritos available at other area places but the wonderful flavors and quality absolutely outweighs the small difference in size..Wonderful!! The horchata is as good if not slightly better than other horchatas in the area. the prices are very reasonable for the quality..I now have a new favorite place!..The owners (I didn't catch the lady's name...the warm hospitality they give their customers is first rate..so friendly and they take pride in their restaurant and the food. The refried beans are good but nothing spectacular as well as the rice..Standard fare but not bad at all..Don't let this discourage you from eating here..Still good sides! The rojo and verde sauces are good too..the red has some kick...Love it..the verde is milder but still has tons of flavor..finished a whole cup of it on the steak burrito :) UPDATED: Skip the chile relleno burritos and tacos unless you like a lot of seeds..nearly inedible. This place is really a hidden gem. The food is always good! We order from them frequently and they consistently do a great job. I typically order a burrito with ground beef. It is always so flavorful! Top it with their salsa verde for a spicy garlic taste to really hit the spot. Also, try their dessert chimichanga! Oh man I am glad I found this place! My fam and I LOVE Mexican food. And we are kind of picky about it. Took my kids here on a whim for lunch and we all decided it's our NEW FAV! Amazing kind server handled my 3 kiddos - including a spilled water- kind and graciously. Helped me select a dinner with sides to get more for my money. And it's DELISH!! Kids all gave the quesadillas two thumbs up (3 happy empty plates), we all loved the chips and guacamole (my 8 year old just about licked the guacamole bowl clean) and my Small Veggie Burrito was HUGE! Excellent authentic Mexican food at fair prices! We had a group of four people so we ate inside the restaurant, which was colorful, clean and spacious. The service was fast and friendly and the waiter even gave us a sample of one of the types of meats to make sure a person in our party would like it in their burrito. Overall, all four people liked their meal of various type of burritos, so we'll be back and recommend it. I think the food here must be authentic because the only customers I saw in there were Mexican. The server was nice but didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu and didn't speak Spanish. Also, she never once came to our table once we got our food. We waited about an hour until we finally walked up to ask for the check. We didn't even get the check for another 20 minutes. There were only 3 other tables. Service was way horrible. The menu was very confusing too- there were 3 types of burrito portions with no explanations on them. "Lunch, special, and dinner." There were also typos on the menu. Even thE server was confused when explaining the burrito page to us. We also asked what something was on the menu and she had no idea. We got the San Diego burrito. The steak itself was really good but the whole burrito was just ok. Dry. We also got the Mexicana burrito with chorizo. This tasted mostly like straight chorizo- no other flavors. It was quite spicy and the chorizo itself was good but I would have liked other flavors mixed into it. We are glad we did not get the dinner portion because that comes with a side of rice and beans which apparently were not that good. The owner seemed nice but his English wasn't very good. This place was completely awful- ordered from them because it was "open til 8:30" at 7:30pm, order went through with no problem & then at 830, get notified that the place is closed & the delivery person couldn't so the pick up. Called & the place assured us they turned off their availability & are in fact closed, with no apologies or attempts to repair. Will never be trying to give this place business again. It's good to know that I have a solid Mexican joint right down the street from my home. This location is brand new. Honestly the food was good like any other fast mexican food place, not a bad thing! The staff was friendly and food came out quick. I had a big take out order that took no time to make. I hope this place sticks around. Tip: If you order tacos, let them know if you want American or Mexican. American is with tomato and cheese, while Mexican is cilantro and onion. Wonderful little restaurant less than 5 minutes from my door. We dined in for a weeknight dinner. The staff is friendly and very polite. They have a large menu selection. The salsa is freshly made and full of flavor. My family of 3 each had a dinner entree and our meal was less than $25. My husband had the chimichanga with steak. My son had a steak quesadilla and I had chicken flautas. There were 4 perfectly cooked, not greasy flautas on my plate. We also had a side of guacamole with our chips and salsa. We will definitely be back, It's nice to have a good take out place so close to home. read more

The fact that Alejandro's is about 1 minute from my house is fabulous. I have now eaten there and carried out at least 5 times. The service is great. Everyone in the restaurant is friendly and when you call to place a carry out order, it's the same. Because it is a new restaurant, there are still some kinks that are being worked out, but not anything that will stop me from ordering. I want there on opening day, and I have already seen a lot of improvement. The prices are reasonable. The menu is average sized for a Mexican restaurant. They also have a kids menu, which is a plus for our family. So far, I have tried the steak tacos and a couple different burritos. I always stick with steak as my meat. The portions are large. Even when I order a small burrito, it is huge, in my opinion. The food tastes fresh and has good flavor to it. Their rice and beans are tasty, but the burritos are so big that I usually don't need any sides. I have also tried their guacamole and it is good. I am very picky about guacamole, but I definitely give theirs a thumbs up. read more

Bland rice and beans, red enchiladas had old scraps of chicken, and too much cheese, big portion but it wasn't tasty... ate 1/4 of the portion of that... and picked through the rest desperately searching for a decent piece of chicken. First, I just tried this place on a whim because I was growing tired of the usual Mexican restaurants in my area...And now, after eating there twice, I can safely say...this is by far, the best Mexican food, not only in the area, but of all lake county. The tacos are to die for! The way they lightly crisp the tortillas to the way the meat is freshly prepared with zero grease. Everything is fantastic! Including the staff and owner who are super nice and friendly people. I've found my go to Mexican restaurant for the foreseeable future!
