Everything we tried was delicious. They gave us a cup of frijoles charros at the beginning of our meal and it was full of jalapenos, veggies, and chicharron. The corn ribs were in a chipotle mayo sauce but the corn itself was limey and has food texture. The flautas, ramen, and tacos were super flavorful - the birria is smoky and rich. My boyfriend and I stopped in after a night at Six Flags. It was cold and rainy and we knew we wanted warm food so I pulled up Yelp and saw the rave reviews and decided to venture to Texas Bebe's Quesobirria. And we are sooooo glad we did! I got the Quesobirria tacos and I am still dreaming about them. Everything was perfect!! One bite and you knew it was the best taco you'll ever have. My boyfriend and I were speechless after our first few bites. Writing this review is torture because I want to come back and live about an hour away in the city. Before we even finished our meal, we were making a list of people we want to bring out here. We were already saying we wanted and needed to come back before we even finish our meal. I was upset I was full. We chatted with some of the staff and everyone was kind and excited that it was our first time. I learned from our waitress that they opened in the midst of 2020 and for a restaurant to open during that time AND be successful enough to grow shows how amazing the food and staff are. To add to the positives, it's a family owned restaurant. The drinks are amazing and the sauces are fresh. The decor ties into their Texan roots. Nearly two years ago my wife and I stumbled onto a food truck in Nashville that served, up until now, the best birria tacos I had ever had. Having lived in Colorado Springs and driving to Pueblo Colorado for gray Mexican food, I feel I've eaten very good Mexican food. First time we came here was for catering and was disappointed because they promised our large order would be ready by 6:00. It wasn't ready until 6:45. Not a really great first impression. Tonight was the second time. Different story. Came early on a Sunday evening to beat the dinner rush. Looks like they plan on expanding and could use it as the space is pretty tight. Customers are able to seat themselves in the bar or tables. Service was fast and the wait staff explained the menu before we could even ask. Margarita was delicious and beer was ice cold, which I like. My husband ordered the Torta al Pastor, which he usually orders at Mexican Restaurants. I ordered the Birria Chan, which was unique. Mexican and Japanese ingredients fused into a delicious soup. Excellent fusion!! The depth of flavor in the broth was spectacular!! The Ramen noodles soaked all the flavor from the broth. Plus, hints of Cilantro further enhanced the flavor. Could not stop eating!! It came with two meat tacos that you could dip in the soup and that cabbage slaw is addicting. Texas Bebe's Quesobirria knocked it out of the park again this year. We used them to cater our Halloween party and the food was as consistently great as it was the previous years! The tacos were so flavorful and full AND THE CONSOMÉ WAS DELICIOUS! The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly, we always get great service! All styles of tacos are absolutely fantastic. Yes some of the drawbacks are that their bar selection is highly limited. But that's not a big deal whatsoever or a game changer. Oh my everything was perfection. My son had number 1 was delish. With or without Consommé. I had smoked brisket sandwich with jalapeño and caramelized onion. they had good margaritas my son had a grapefruit margarita I asked for how opinion mind I would like a little more minced jalapeños some heat but the margarita was pretty good. The owner was walking around and making sure that everything was OK. He made two rounds very thorough very nice. It was a little expensive but I'd rather spend a little more money and have really good food so I would definitely come back here and try more of the menu. One thing I think that would be good is as many prices were accurate I think they weren't updated so the prices when we checked out did not reflect on the menu . Omg this is a long one, but the short version is....Don't do do it! Don't waste your money here. We ordered quesobirra tacos, asada tacos, rice, beans, chips and salsa. There was no flavor to anything we ordered, literally none. It's as if they don't know what seasonings are or that salt helps. For the Birria tacos: They use mini corn tortillas so 6 tacos is more like three. They were soggy, but also never crisped up, which is why I'd say greasy is accurate. Though you expect to have grease with cheese and consume. This is the first pace I have had them small and not with a crispy texture to the outside. The asada tacos were full of meat, but also no flavor and dry. This is where I used the small salsas. The red hot was hot, not too hot, but again no flavor at all..... just red heat. The green was medium in heat to mild, also no flavor. The beans were very thick and bland, I would say from a can, but if they are they got dried out. The rice was red Mexican restaurant style rice, nothing added to it, including salt or bullion. The table style salsa and chips were ok, but I knew from tasting that to start....we were going to be disappointed. This place is way too expensive to be out here with no flavor. Oh and they charge more for using a card over cash. I wouldn't mind paying the price for good food, but I literally ended up not finishing my half and gave some to my dog and then the rest out. Ochoa's in Deerfield or La Plancha in Highwood are far better!! read more

Note that they told us they've been opening at 10:30 AM, not 8AM as posted on Yelp. They were kind enough to let us in at 9:30 and we had a great breakfast. They have coffee. They are honest - our server told us that one breakfast taco is usually enough for one person, that we could always order another if it wasn't, and she was right. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place! A hidden gem tucked away in a small little strip. The nachos were delicious. The Birria was the star of all the dishes and so flavorful and tender. The noodles for the Birria chan were such a good texture. The portions were really big and I could not save room for dessert (shocking for me), but I will be back again soon! Our search for the best birria tacos in Lake County is over, this place is oh. my. god. SO GOOD!!!! Visited last weekend for a late lunch and the food was just what we needed. We started off with the guac and some salsas. I don't know what the red salsa was, but it was bomb! I mean, if they sell it, call me, I will get it! We followed our order with the #1 quesobirria taco which comes with 6 corn tortillas filled with the birria meat and cheese, sided with the dipping birria sauce. We had to order extra because it was out of this world. We also ordered the #9 taco pobre. We choose brisket, and as soon as we started eating we ask for another order to be prepared. Those crispy brisket tacos, that spicy mayo. Served with rice and beans... Oh god, I am hungry now! Bebe's is a family owned restaurant. The attention was fantastic, like you were visiting family. Also, the place is all Texas decorated. We love the state of Texas and being at Bebe's made us feel there. If birria is not your thing, no worries, friend. They offer beef, chicken and seafood tacos. Absolutely great food! Location is a bit out of the way, but worth the drive if you are in the area around Grayslake. The two gripes that I had were: 1) customer service and 2) prices. Customer service was fine, but the lady who took care of my carryout order was very emotionless and I was even considering asking if this had been a busy day, as she looked really tired. The prices have changed from some of the photos. The menu photos reflect older prices, and unfortunately, we did not check when placing an order. The prices are higher now. For some items, like a torta sandwich, the price is almost double. It would be great if they posted the latest prices on Yelp. Still giving it a 5 stars because the food was absolutely amazing and totally hit the spot for us. We ordered #1, the Birria Chan, and a torta sandwich. I was so excited, based on the reviews, to give this place a try. We showed up at 7:20pm on a Sunday and google said they closed at 8pm. Upon entry, we were met with an angry glare from a woman cleaning one of the rooms. We were seated quickly by a very friendly (she was the best part of our experience) waitress. Orders were taken but 1 thing on the kids' menu wasn't available because "they were about to close" so we had to order something else and all was well. Apps came out (birria egg rolls). They were good. 3.5/5 stars. Our food came out minus the meal for my son (which we had to ask for and was later comped). I honestly don't recall getting checked on during our meal. A very short time later, the angry lady cleaning came to me and said she can check us out because, again, they're ready to close (mind you, it wasn't even 8pm yet). She stood over me, did some calculations and gave me a total. I asked for a bill so I could review. She stood there some more and repeated that I needed to pay. I again asked for the receipt. She yelled back to someone asking for the print out asked me if we needed boxes (we were still eating). I was presented with the bill, paid. Not once were our drinks refreshed, nor were we asked if we wanted dessert. The food was just ok, and again, our waitress was very friendly, but the rest of the experience was not good. Very welcoming and very filling, this establishment won't hold back in its food offering and flavors they have, especially in its specialty, Birria. Despite nearly missing the building, this small eatery is what defines to be a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Grayslake, the rustic decor from various items such as Texan flags and cowboy hats to the sports bar feel, and even a WWE championship near the menu I'm not kidding you. The staff was more than friendly and patient, offering a home vibe as I visited with a few others. Even going as far as providing a sample of their consumption, which we didn't take for granted as it was a gamble that got us to stay and try. So how was the food? I got the Birria Torta (#3), while my colleagues had the #1- Quesabirrias. The taco quesadilla sensations come in packs of 6, so the value was enough to satiate them, while my Mexican sandwich had been delicious enough at its price. The only issue I can think of for my meal was the fact I requested no chipotle lime mayo be added, but that request alone had been ignored, so points of accuracy were docked. As for the tacos, the meat was very flavorful and packed a pleasant smoky taste, but the tortilla itself was lacking in quality. We wanted to love them more than what they were, but it was delicious nonetheless but not memorable enough that it would make us eager to return. 7.5/10- Good but not great. If you want to try a small spot, go for BEBE'S Quesabirria! While it wasn't a home run, it was a solid hit, and they have a wide variety of selections to choose from, whether you're new to the world of barbacoa or an expert in great Birria. read more

The ambiance was nice. There were some Mexican decorations when you go in with Christmas lights. You are also welcomed with Mexican music playing in the background. The food was decent. I was excited to try the Quessobirria because I read that it was the best someone has tried and it was great but it was a bit too heavy and a little bit greasy. If you like that, then this dish is perfect for you. The horchata was really good though. The food was a bit expensive for what it was. I kept on saying that it was really expensive as I was looking at the menu. Most Mexican restaurants also give free salsa and chips but in here, there was none of that and it was $10 for guacamole and chips which was a bit too steep. If you don't mind that then this would be a great restaurant to go to I had no problem with the service. In fact, it was fantastic. And, still crispy when I got them home in my take out order. The thing that threw me was the cost. $75 for dinner for two people? We're talking two orders of tacos, rice and beans, and chips and salsa. That's insane. Especially considering the rice tasted from a pack or box, the beans from a can, and the salsa... Tostito's tastes fresher with more flavor. I was getting my prices from their online menu, so maybe they've changed them. But it would be great to update those online. Came to try this place and it was so so good.. I got a birria torta and my wife got five birria tacos. The meat was so tender, the tacos were cooked perfectly and the torts was nice and fresh yet juicy at the same time. They were both served with a side of conzumel that was nice and hot which was nice because it was a cold day! The restaurant is so small and cute with vintage decor!
