This place has gone downhill. Came here for lunch with my family. Husband ordered the steak fajitas. Awful would be giving them too much credit. He ate one bite and it was like the sole of a shoe in taste and texture. Was not prepared traditionally like fajitas. Instead seemed like a stir fry with A TON of gravy on top. He shared the feedback with the waitress and she took the plate away and replaced them with three tacos. We go to pay. And the woman charged us for everything. Including the awful fajitas. I explained once again and the response was too bad if you didn't like it. You still have to pay for it. We had no issue paying for the other food but not the disgusting fajitas. She claims she called the manager and he said we had to pay for it. To then which two of their thug customers started name calling me poor and pathetic and just pay for it along with other name calling. Sorry I work hard for my money. And it's not your business to intervene in a conversation between a customer and a restaurant. This is a place we used to go to from time to time but never again. The food quality has gotten terrible since the last time here a year ago. The restaurant is a dump. The environment is pathetic. Would give zero stars if that were an option. read more

The beef tacos are pretty good, there is just this flavor about them that keeps me coming back! I also want to applaud the fish tacos, the sauce they add really brings together the perfectly cooked and crispy fish! The salsa is also great, not much kick, but enough to bring flavor! Great food, great service but the owner of the building is a raging bitch. Accidental parked in the employee only parking spot for only 10 minutes to get food and icecream and she harasses me and my girlfriend asking us if we can read, didn't even realize it was employee parking because both signs they have for parking for customers and the one employee parking are both right next to eachother and both green and white so if you aren't looking exactly at the sign you can easily mix it up, she also brought her big black dog out to intimate us but instead of calming handling the situation she got real aggressive with us so the food is good but definitely watch out for this owner she's crazy and extremely entitled read more

Decided to give this place a first time try for pick-up since there's no dine-in during the Coronvirus... Chicken and pork tacos barely average; the lettuce on the tacos was in big pieces, not shredded. The meat on the tacos was minimal and chopped into 1/8" cubes. The pork was tough and chewy. Wow, just wow. Food was awesome, went in to get couple chicken tacos for lunch and ended up ordering a veggie tostada. Chicken tacos were good, but tostadas were off the chart. I added all grilled veggies, beans lettuce and tomato. Their red sauce is so good, spicy yet super tasty. Green sauce is nice and mellow. Not only does Main Street Tacos have the best tacos in Wauconda, but the best tacos I've ever had. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is delicious and authentic. I used to work in Wauconda so I would eat lunch there almost every day. Now whenever I come back into town from Chicago I make a stop there. Do yourself a favor and get their fish taco...it is unreal. Then go ahead an get their al pastor taco with cilantro, onion and cheese and dip it in their red salsa. No fish or pork taco I have ever had in Chicago has surpassed the deliciousness of Main Street's. Because Main Street Tacos are a small local place, I was hoping they would be one of my hometown favorites. But that's not the case. Even though I pick up food from here often, 95% of the time, it's for my husband. He loves their tacos. I've tried their tacos but they did not 'wow' me. I will admit their Pico De Gallo is amazing!!!!! Their Cheese Quesadillas are pretty good. I know they are usually busy so they do have their fans. Originally, their shop was small but bought out the space behind & expanded their space by adding a dining area. Warning: Their parking lot is oddly shaped. So I always pick a spot that allows me to easily exit when more cars appear. read more

I've driven past this place countless of times. However, today I've had the best burrito I've had in a while. The customer service was great. I ordered a burrito, expecting just a quick lunch. The horchata I ordered had colored residue from another drink on the lid. Bottom line, I don't feel like the owners really care about this place and it reflects on the customers. The best place for tacos in wauconda. May not look pretty on the outside, but you know what they say, the most beat up food businesses have the best food. And main street is a prime example. Don't look any further from the tacos cuz they are the best I've had, I have my fair share of Mexican food from county to county and state to state. I've been going to Main Street Tacos for years now! Ever since they opened and then expanded into the neighbor store. I LOVE this place. I just spent 2 and a half years living in California getting fantastic Mexican food and this place HOLDS UP. Their chicken quesadilla is so good I can no longer order one at any other place. Their tacos and flautas are also incredible!! Their guac used to be on the meh side but they changed the recipe recently and it's fantastic! Their meat is always so well seasoned and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Main Street! As for the staff, I've never had a problem. Their main language is obviously Spanish so if someone thinks they've been cold or distant it may be due to a language barrier but the staff I've encountered have been nothing but wonderful! read more
