He'll tell you we agreed that there was no guarantee on his work, and that's true - but that assumes it was done competently in the first place, which this didn't appear to be, considering how quickly it came undone. I always want to support local artisans, and I get that they can't guarantee the work over the long term - but to refuse to even consider that it wasn't done right in the first place is problematic, to say the least. I'll look elsewhere next time.

But scheduling service is very difficult. If I had known how hard it is to schedule service I would have thought again about buying a subaru - and I certainly would think again about an extended warranty using subaru to fix your vehicle -- it's just too hard to get in to have work done. I couldn't schedule work even a month in advance on two occasions in the first year after I bought my car, and couldn't schedule it two weeks out on a third occasion (I didn't check if there were other times available more than two weeks out that third time because by then I knew there are other good options for servicing my Subaru - Bob Johnson Toyota, Vail Automotive, and Jiffy Lube in Geneseo I can't say enough about how great the car-buying experience, in every way. They work with you to get the car that fits your needs (I got one of the last manual transmission Crosstreks!) They're available to help with the process of changing registration and all the other items to get the new car established. They offer follow up with any questions, including about warranty. They carefully explain warranty options. This is my first subaru : compared to Toyota - Subaru's people and work on doing maintenance and repairs is just as good and the waiting area is almost as good as Toyota. Scheduling service, though, is another story -- much worse than Bob Johnson Toyota. At Toyota I could easily schedule a time to come in. My first February after I purchased my car I tried to set an appointment up at Subaru *a month in advance* at a time when I'd have work to do while I waited and all they had was early morning and evening appointments. When I called about this difficulty I was told I should just do drive-up service and I'm going to try that.I used that rather than an appointment only had to wait less than two hours for an oil change, so that was fine -- I could come in when I had work to do or the day was not very nice. The people were very helpful getting me a maintenance book for the used vehicle I bought But the second time I tried to use the drop-in service (for an inspection and oil change in August), I arrived shortly after 1PM and was told they were willing to fit me in, but that the wait would be perhaps til 8PM close; they said they were telling others they should come back the next day. I checked Subaru's online appointment system and the first appointments available from the time I write this review are 29 days from now -- and those appointments are very limited (early morning evening.) About 34 days from now there are appointments available. In September, I tried to get an appointment for a battery issue two weeks in advance and it was not possible Subaru is big on going to the express lane, maybe even renting cars for $10/day. I'd rather wait on something. In my many years with Toyota, calling a week in advance was enough to get an appointment. In September, I found Toyota could service my Subaru within a few days when Subaru couldn't service it within weeks. (I only had them check two weeks out.) I'd think twice about an extended warranty with Subaru knowing how difficult it is to schedule service. Frankly, it's a great car, but is it worth the service hassle? I'm not sure. In retrospect, I think, Subaru doesn't accommodate those who want to wait on a repair very well. My wife has had a Subaru and I found it hard to schedule repairs. Subaru a shuttle and $10 car rental on offer. They're much better set up for people who want to drop their car off rather than wait. Subaru's difficulty scheduling is probably because of how successful Subaru sales is. Kitty Van Bortel has built a great company with committed people who work at Van Bortel. I don't know how Subaru could solve this problem. On the August day I tried to get a drop-in oil change and inspection I was told about the 150 vehicles they were trying to get through. And they were personable - gave me a card and said I could try to call in advance and personally helped back me out of the crowded entry to service. But it was easier to get it taken care of at a great local shop - Vail Automotive - the next day. I have had one maintenance done with Subaru and was welcomed warmly, the staff was great, and the service was quick. But scheduling service is tough so that I've failed to schedule two other service visits in the year I bought my car and the only other time I tried to schedule on my wife's previous Subaru (I'm also no fan of online-only setting up appointments to have work done. But they all do it now. And Subaru is not online-only, you can call 'em. But they're online system is distinctly more confusing than most.) Great team, great service, great people. But too many want to do the service to make it usable.

I was surprised because I have brought them previously a car and sent them a lot of work over the years. So let me tell you about the LONG HAUL on your vehicle if you bring it here to Vogels. I would know about long term on a vehicle from them because they did a Job for me in 2015 on my 97 Camaro. This place is decent place to bring your vehicle if you need something fix short term but long term not worth it to ME. To others they are worth it but they don't restore cars really just fix them. I brought these guys my 97 Camaro back in 2015. Let me tell you what it WASN'T worth the price they charged me 6500-7k and or it felt like I was getting harassed by the owner about paying them. Normally you pay for a job when it's finished but he was eager to collect some before starting it and during before he finished the Camaro. I had to pay before they finished which felt like I was being scammed but I was in a tight pinch and had to get it done. After finally paying them in full they finished it up and said we will detail it up nice for you but the rushed they detail guy and I had wax all over the Camaro. Even the detail guy complained about being rushed. I even mentioned the green paint I could still see but they didn't fix it or nothing. I was super bummed about this but I was still happy to get my 97 Camaro back on the road and drive it. Mind you this 97 Camaro sat after it got "restored"from Vogels. Nothing wrong with it but all the imperfections they left, all the chipped and cracked paint I found and the green paint from the donor parts they used to fix it that you could still see in areas. The Camaro wasn't very professional done at all and the service I got from them especially from the owner himself was good and all till the demanded payment. Then it felt like a scam and it felt like I was being harassed. Now 10 years later I have to repay someone to fix all those paint chips, all the cracked panels and a lot more. So in my opinion it's not worth it because 10 years later and 6500 bucks wasted to repay another person. About the same or more to make it look brand new even better then show room quality they said just like Vogel's promised me but Vogels couldn't handle it. Then proceeded to say I called them because I had an insurance quote done and I wanted them to add more on? WTF? How is that possible when my accident just happen at 9:33 am. So how did I have time to get a quote and call you to ask you to change that quote? So now I'm more annoyed because they tried to call me out on something I didn't even say. All I said was "can I get an estimate done today for an insurance quote". He then proceeded to tell me IDK why you're posting your Camaro now. It's been 10 years and we didn't harass you. He said "we have to get some up front or all especially when it's not an insurance quote because we gotta pay outta packet for materials"? Really? You have to pay for materials? Wow that's crazy. What about regular mechanics or other shops? They don't ask up front for any money. However I was fine putting a down payment down back then. After two weeks of not hearing from them, I called and they said it had just arrived. The next appointment available for installation was a week out. They said it typically takes 90 minutes to install, so I decided to wait while it was installed. It took 4 hours. The mechanic who installed it apologized for the delay, and said it took longer because the schematic he had did not match the vehicle. The next day we made a 7 hour trip, and then returned the following day. We heard a rattle coming from the back of the car, so when I got home I looked under the bumper and found quite a mess. The rattle was due to the wheel-well and rear bumper cover not being reconnected. The wiring was very sloppy, with wire ties not trimmed, poor crimps and the wires hanging down without being attached to pre-existing wires. I went back to Brad's the next morning so they could see the poor workmanship and correct the problems, which they took care of in about 5 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager and suggested that I should be compensated for all of my time and trouble. The total bill for the hitch, wiring and installation was $775. The manager offered a $45 refund of the amount that was overcharged due to a error she found on the Curt website which incorrectly stated the retail price. If I had not had trouble and complained, I would have paid $45 too much, not to mention the very long install time and aggravation. At this point I researched the price of the hitch available from reliable resellers such as Tractor Supply, UHaul and others who all listed the delivered retail price of the hitch for $145 less than what Brad's charged me after the $45 refund. The installation of the hitch was $110, and the installation of the wiring was $135. Buyer beware, do your research first!

Originally they quoted around $350 to install, which i thought was a bit steep at the time (mind you, I don't know anything about labor costs, part costs etc.) but didn't really care since I knew they were professionals at this. The appointment was quick, dropped the car off for about 2 hours and they did a excellent job! The price ended up going down to around $225 which i thought was a great deal! Functions perfectly and the sound is crazy good! Recommended to my family members, since they also were looking into installing Apple CarPlay units to my car. They also have financing plans!!
