I needed a hitch drawer primarily for a bike rack to be mounted on a 2024 Kia Niro PHEV. The hitch needed to be ordered, which took two weeks. After two weeks of not hearing from them, I called and they said it had just arrived. The next appointment available for installation was a week out. They said it typically takes 90 minutes to install, so I decided to wait while it was installed. It took 4 hours. The mechanic who installed it apologized for the delay, and said it took longer because the schematic he had did not match the vehicle. The next day we made a 7 hour trip, and then returned the following day. We heard a rattle coming from the back of the car, so when I got home I looked under the bumper and found quite a mess. The rattle was due to the wheel-well and rear bumper cover not being reconnected. The wiring was very sloppy, with wire ties not trimmed, poor crimps and the wires hanging down without being attached to pre-existing wires. I went back to Brad's the next morning so they could see the poor workmanship and correct the problems, which they took care of in about 5 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager and suggested that I should be compensated for all of my time and trouble. The total bill for the hitch, wiring and installation was $775. The manager offered a $45 refund of the amount that was overcharged due to a error she found on the Curt website which incorrectly stated the retail price. If I had not had trouble and complained, I would have paid $45 too much, not to mention the very long install time and aggravation. At this point I researched the price of the hitch available from reliable resellers such as Tractor Supply, UHaul and others who all listed the delivered retail price of the hitch for $145 less than what Brad's charged me after the $45 refund. The sign on door said 5:00pm...The answering machine when I called at 4:30pm said they closed at 5:00pm.. They are the best trailer repair shop in Rochester. I have went several times for two of my trailers and I always left happy. The staff does straight up honest work and they are good at what they do. I purchased a hitch from torklift.com (hidden ecohitch) and contacted Brads to do the install on my 2013 Subaru Outback. They quoted me 1.5 hrs of labor for install ( they were very helpful via email and phone). I dropped it off (no appointment necessary) and they had it done in a couple hours. To my surprise it ended up being 80$ + tax and only an hour of labor. They could have easily charged me what they quoted me (which would have been about 40$ more) but they didn't because they are an honest business. Bottom line is they did it fast and affordably. Was recommended this location by my car dealer and checked some other reviews and decided I would go with this local operation rather than U-Haul. I was really happy with my service-- the staff were friendly and the service was quick. Just a heads up, no appointments taken here, which is sort of annoying but ended up being fine in the end. It's spring as I am writing this so every Tom, Dick, and Harry that procrastinated like me wants a hitch, inspection, etc. I dropped off my car in the morning and came back to pick it up. If it is busy they stop taking appointments-- sort of stinks, but also appreciate that it means they are in high-demand and also they know their limits. read more

Chose Brad's because when I called to set up the appointment a couple weeks in advance, they said they could install all of the Roadmaster components I ordered for my truck at a cost that was 1/2 of what a local RV dealer wanted. So I canceled the RV dealership appointment only to be told by Brad's that they could only install the base plates and nothing else (lighting kit, brake master, etc.) because they are only trained on Blue Ox systems. So now I had to find another RV dealer to do the work (original dealer closes for the holidays) at a higher cost than the 1st dealership. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because they gave me a little break on their labor effort to install the base plates which did not align properly (factory issue, not Brad's). Overall, it was a waste of time based on their promise and ended up costing me much more in the long run. Bottom line is they should KNOW what they can and cannot install when booking the appointment, not once you arrive. read more
