We reserved a 17-foot speedboat to be delivered to the dock. We arrived at Carls Marine Rental in the morning and spoke with Elijah, who was very friendly and helpful. He informed us that the boat would be delivered by 9:00 a.m., so we left for the marina. Unfortunately, the delivery driver, Ellory, arrived about 20 minutes late. While both Elijah and Ellory were courteous and pleasant to work with, we were extremely disappointed with the condition of the boat. The boat appeared very old and poorly maintained. The speedometer only worked intermittently, the steering wheel was sticky, and the steering alignment was noticeably off. Based on the condition of the boat, it did not meet our expectations. Although the staff members we interacted with were kind and professional, the quality and maintenance of the boat were disappointing. In the future, I would recommend inspecting the boat in person before heading to the marina. read more

Major safety concerns! The "owner's son," Tim rented us a boat that knowingly did not run properly. We were unable to idle the boat without it stalling out. At one point we were in the middle of the lake and the boat stalled out and would not start back up. After waiting 10 minutes we were able to start the boat up and get it back to the marina. Besides the boat not running properly, it was also filthy, ripped seats, screws on the ground, and equipment did not work. The next day we rented a boat from Stateline Marina and they were great. They went over safety and wind conditions. Their boat was clean and ran without any issues. And on top of that the price was better than Carl's Marine. They also were not surprised by our experience with Carl's Marine. They said they have heard may scary stories from customers who stated the boats were not running properly and even sinking! I'm just grateful we, especially our 9 and 3 year old children, made it back safely. I don't understand how this business is allowed to rent boats. We paid over $700 for a single day rental and the gentleman that was in the office when we picked up the rental seem like he was stoned, and when we asked the best place to wakeboard, his answer was that he only water skis so he doesn't know . He also declined to tell us that there was a main artery between the drop off point and the rest of the lake that was closed because the lake volume was not high enough. I have no question in my mind that I could've bought about for a rental price. Rented a bayliner for day for $700, but was probably more than what the boat is worth. No power steering and incredibly hard to turn. Only had enough power to pull up young kids. Driver seat was broken. Wake board provided was broken. Tube was flat. Ladder provided with boat was not for the boat or the tiny platform in the back so getting in the boat feom the water was incredibly hard. The boys that helped set us up and put the boat in the water meant well but were clueless about providing tips on where to go on the lake and non- responsive when we pointed out all the issues with the boat when we returned. Avoid This Marina at All Costs - Unsafe, Uncaring, and Unprofessional My family and I rented a Bayliner for a day, hoping for a memorable experience on Lake Powell. What we got instead was a complete disaster. The boat was in terrible condition from the moment we stepped on board: None of the gauges worked, including the fuel gauge -- a serious safety concern. The seats were broken, making the ride uncomfortable and unsafe. Steering was nearly impossible -- I'm a 250lb man and had to switch off with my 17-year-old son just to give my arms a break. That's how stiff it was. The engine was clearly malfunctioning. We couldn't go past half throttle, and the top speed was a pathetic 10mph -- which took nearly 5 minutes to reach. We called the marina while on the water, and they offered no help whatsoever. We ended our day early and returned the boat, completely disappointed. To make matters worse, no one apologized, and they simply took the boat back and told us someone would be in touch. No one has contacted us since -- no follow-up, no explanation, and certainly no offer of a refund. This was supposed to be a bucket list moment for my daughter and me -- wakeboarding on Lake Powell. Instead, it was a frustrating, expensive letdown. It's clear this marina does not maintain their equipment or care about customer safety or experience. Save your money. Save your time. We came in from out of town and wanted to visit Antelope Canyon. Since the only way to do that right now is via Lake Powell, we wanted jet skis. This place was amazing! They were so accommodating and helpful. They gave us tips and pointers on where to go, how to stay safe and what to watch out for. They made sure we had everything we needed, included plastic bags for our phones. They dropped the jet skis off at the marina and then picked us up when we were done. The jet skis were great. Equipment - We rented 4 Jet Skis, and 1 Pontoon the Pontoon is a bit on the older side and has no system, but it drove great with no issues and served it's purpose. We were very disappointed with the customer service. Tim was oblivious to time when it came to our set meeting time, and simply noted that it was a a rough morning. We paid a lot for our rental and delivery. Our expectation if there was a delay is that we would have received some sort of communication. It was basically so sad too bad with no apology for leaving us sweltering in the hot sun. The equipment was marginal, but the lack of customer service prompted this negative review. I rented a boat on June 21 and was told to meet the driver at the Launch area at 11:00am. At 11:10am I called the office and was told the driver would be there in 5 minutes and was give the drivers phone number. I called the driver 10 minutes later but there was no answer, so I texted, twice. I called the office back at 11:30 and was told they would call the driver and call me back. That did not happen. I called the driver, Michael, again and he answered but he was not the driver. The driver was on his way and should be there is less than 10 minutes. At 12:00 I called the office (no answer) and Micheal again. Micheal said the driver was pulling in now. At 12:30 we gave up. I called the office and said we were going to cancel. The young man that answered the phone said he understood and we would be refunded. We walked back up to the parking, with towels, cooler, etc and at 12:45 the driver showed up. He profusely apologized and told us two of their trucks broke down and he new at 10:00 that it was going to be impossible to meet the 11:00am meeting time as there were 3 drop-offs before ours. He said not to worry Carls Marine was a great company and I would absolutely receive a full refund. A week later, I receive an email which I assumed was a receipt for the refund. It was not. It was a fuel charge for the boat that I did not use, which was taken out of my $1000 deposit. I emailed and explained the situation and was assured the full deposit wiyld be return and the refund would be sorted out. It has now been 2 month. I did receive the deposit back but the rental fee of $741 has yet to be returned. I have called and I have emailed. I am finished communicating with them. I will call America Express today to dispute the charge. I am not one to write bad reviews but geez... hopefully someone with authority will see this and give me my money back. read more

I rented a pontoon for July 3rd. Picture of Pontoon was not what we received. There was so much wrong with pontoon it should have been illegal to rent.Captains chair was not properly bolted down as well as backrest was completely stripped of screws.Boat was leaking from bottom. passenger seat was not anchored down.Normally there are 2 Bimini tops.This had only 1.2 of our passenger stubbed foot on corner rail which was not properly screwed down,one of passengers toes was cut. Ladder to get into water was only 2 steps. Normally they are 3-4 steps.By the time we recognized all that was wrong we were 1 hr. into our trip. It was a complete waste of time and money. read more

We rented jet skis over Labor Day weekend and damaged one on the bumper. But noticed by the cracking that it had been damaged before and bondo was used to fill and smooth it out to "hide it". They charged us $450 for the damage with no documentation supporting the "estimated" amount required to fix it. I requested the invoice/estimate and never received it. There are much better and more "business-like" renters in Page so I highly recommend you go elsewhere for any rentals incase of accidents like this. Seems like a "fly by night" shop. Rented 2 jet skis for one day. One jet ski took on water 45 minutes into the day. Their emergency response person, Randy, was not available, so we had to tow the ski in ourselves. This took most of the day, so we were not able to utilize either ski for any fun. The skis were both about 10 years old, very beat up and taped together. After all of our efforts they are now trying to say this happens all of the time and it's normal for a ski to fill with water. They are also saying they are going to bill us for any damages, etc. I have lived in Page and been riding jet skis on Lake Powell for 35 years. I know how to ride, and I know this is not normal. I can say nothing else than I had a blast. Great value for a great price. The owner and wife were both extremely nice and accommodating. My brother, sister and now me all came to this rental place and all of us were amazed of the route and service we got. I drove an entire circle in west USA, seen Grand Canyon, death valley, yosemity, route 1, SFO, slide rock, but this experience was my main attraction. Our family had a horrible experience renting jet skis from Carl. A rope got tangled up in the propellers, he quoted my father $2800 to remove and repair. My Dad followed Carl to the Honda repair shop. They said tangled rope was their most common repair, and Dad paid Honda directly for the bill which was a total of $134. This man is engaging in fraudulent business practices and this yelp is a warning to all. He uses the price leader to get you in the door, but beware should anything go wrong with the equipment-whether its your fault or the machines. read more

My husband had arranged to have two pwc for us on our lady day in Page, after finishing a tour of one of the slot canyons he called to confirm, turns out the rental was in Tempe...not exactly what we needed! Lol. Our tour guide referred us to Carl's & thank heaven he did! Randy & his wife were very nice and fixed our nightmare rental that claimed to be "just an hour away" in Tempe (more like 4 hours away) We met them at the rental location and he offered for us to ride with him to the launch area (and avoid the $25 to park our car) we were leaving town following the lake trip so we took our car. After parking he loaded us up and drove is down the ramp, just as he went to back in I realized I'd forgotten something in the car. Randy hauled us back up the ramp and back down again! Thank you! (It was 109° that day!) We had planned to be picked up at 5pm and after 3 we were done! Randy came back out early and picked us up, no problem!
