Came in for a quick car wash. There was no line! Simple, convenient and quality express deluxe car wash for only $10.00! Can't beat that price! My only dissatisfaction is that the air drying doesn't last long enough to actually dry my car. I find myself pulling over and using a towel to dry most of the rear of my car off. As well as all the mirrors being left spotty. I will definitely come back here. I will just remember to have my own towel in the car instead of paper towels. read more

Very creepy and unusual cashier. I stopped by to wash my car, dry it, and went inside to grab a snack. The cashier kept looking at me the whole time since I was drying my car, as I walked in & while I was looking through the racks, and to the time I drove off. I had never experienced that level of uneasiness. When the cashier was scanning my snacks I tried to break the ice and be nice to him, but he answered in such a weird way I wanted to run off and get in my car. read more

very disappointed with this gas station and whoever manages it. All of a sudden, they have decided To stop credit card authorization to $85.00. With the price of gas as high as it has been, filling up a car with a 16+ gallon tank easily approaches $100. I went inside and told the clerk that he should pass on to management feedback that $85 isn't realistic . His reply? "I don't care, it's not my decision to make"! well, here is MY decision; I have stopped going to this gas station to fill up since I can't fill up. In the past 7 years I have bought gas to the tune of $500 to $600/mo (I drive over 27,000 miles per year). Rough math: $6,600/yr or over $46,000 in the last 6 years...and 80% of this gas money was at this station. read more

My truck had several massive scuff marks following a car wash at this Shell. I went to the representative at the Cash Register only to be doubted and stared at. Another representative was helpful and refunded me but said nothing can be done. Disappointed to have to worry about this at Shell gas stations. read more

Half of the Nozzles not working (Out of Order) other half supposed to be work. I try girst one didn't work. I move my car to other one and let the cashier know about it. He said that I have to push them hard. It was funny! Second pump didnt work either. I drove close by chevron station. Nozzles, everything works fine. Just stopped to get some snacks and use the bathroom. Gentlemen at the cashier wouldn't let my 75 year old husband use the restroom because it had just been cleaned and floor was wet. My husband offered him $20 ... that should've been an indication that this was an emergency. My husband has a medical condition and this man totally ignored us. Cleanest gas station restroom I've ever seen. If you've ever been on a road trip and dreaded having to pee mid way, then you can understand why I'd take time to review a gas station. First off, zero gross gas station restroom smell. Next, the floors are dry, the toilet is CLEAN, there is soap AND a touch free paper towel dispenser. Say whaaat?! And the restrooms are gender neutral so this is presumably even after a bunch of dudes have used it. Way to be Carlsbad Shell! You're killing the roadside restroom game. Insane woman is working there. Please be safe and don't come inside. I just stopped there for gas and quick car wash. After paying by debit card at the station for both and being charged I got no receipt with code for car wash. Came to the building and this ugly woman before I even opened my mouth yelled at me that her system was down and she wouldn't do anything for me. Well I drove to car wash and paid again directly there. Was charged again and had my car finally washed. I came back to her saying that I ended up paying twice. She yelled at me to come back later when her system would work. I asked to give me some kinda note about what happened because I had no receipt and no proof. She told me that she wouldn't do anything and she would remember me and would give me my money back. I said I'll video tape you then promising what you just said, but she angrily closed the doors in front of me. Such a ridiculous situation that could of been easily avoided. Now I have to call my bank to make a charge back. I'll never use this gas station again. How come it become acceptable to act this way toward your customers? read more

I had to make sure to leave a review for this place. I stopped on my way back home this past weekend when I realized I did not have enough gas to make it home. After a couple attempts I was not able to use one of the pumps, I tried another one and nothing. Feeling really stupid I went inside to ask for help. The girl at the register (I can't believe I did not get her name) told me to prepay and maybe that way it would work. Did it a couple of times and nothing. After so many tries my credit card finally denied my next purchase probably thinking it was stolen. Hoping I had enough gas to make it home I thanked her and started to walk out when she stopped me and said she would help me. The kindness of this employee, going above and beyond from her job duties would never be forgotten. Thanks to her I made it home. read more

ive never been one to review something like this...will probably be the one and only. if you find yourself traveling north -- OC, LA, ect --- and neglect, or dont have time to fill up your tank in your hood's best deal spot, this is the freeway gas station to stop at. its been my go-to north county station for years. price is surprisingly competitive with other major brand name stations for being right off freeway (cant see from 5, a right turn off the ramp and slightly up the hill). also just discovered reg sized red bulls are $1.99! holy moly that was shocking. thats def cheaper for a single can than any other place ive seen. easy left turn signal down carlsbad village to hop back on freeway. read more

I enjoy the car wash here. There is usually no problem, except for the dryers at the end. Today though, while I was paying for the car wash, there were some guys in the bushes & one walking over by me. Which I was freaking out about, because I'm a cute, young girl. I was scared for my safety. I haven't seen any people before, coming out of the bushes or trying to approach me. I understand that the Shell station can only do so much & it's not their fault that there are people trying to approach their customers. I just wanted to make the Shell station aware of my experience, as well as warn any single girls going to this car wash. read more

If I could give no stars I would. My husband, a senior who happens to be a teacher, was accused of stealing and told never to step foot on the property. He asked for a refund for a car wash (because the dryer wasn't working) and was told not only was he not getting a refund...he must have not paid for the car wash as the date on the receipt was for a previous day! He couldn't use the car wash on the day of purchase so came back (as you are allowed to use that code at a later date.) He contacted Shell Corporate office to report the employee. He both called and emailed and over a month later has heard nothing. Run don't walk away from this station. You were warned. read more

This place is tiny... Can only pump 8 cars at once. Pumps use the newer technology and are clean. This location does offer a car wash ranging from $7-$10. Good location just off the 5-freeway and Carlsbad Village Dr. I had to give them a low rating because of how long we waited in line: All 8 pumps were being used with another car waiting ahead of me. I finally pull up and start pumping gas. I run in the store and the line is about 10 people deep. There's only one cashier and he's super old and slow, it's fine that you hire senior citizens but please make sure they are capable of handling large crowds at a faster pace. I spent at least 15 minutes total here. read more

An actually nice gas station. The inside of the store is clean and has a large selection of snacks, light food, and drinks. More so the bathrooms are surprisingly very clean. The attendants are friendly enough, the pump stations are clean and at night it is very well lite, and this location has a very good car wash. The location is great -- right off the freeway and clearly visible (even at night). read more

I live near a few gas stations, Arco, Chevron, 76, but I find myself coming to Shell more often. The prices are very competitive with the surrounding competition. It's directly off the freeway if you find yourself traveling north or south. read more

I have lived in Carlsbad for over 40 years, and Carlsbad Shell is by far my favorite gas station. Because I am disabled and confined to a wheelchair, I am unable to stand to pump my own gas. They make every effort to accommodate my lack of mobility, and never act as though I am inconveniencing them in any way. This hasn't always been the case, but their new management has made all the difference in the world. Kevin was great, but Carmen is wonderful. She is prompt to come out to pump gas for me, and incredibly personable and kind. She is always available if I have a problem, like entering the car wash code. I go to the Shell station after being out of town for a week my car needs a car wash and I fill up. This is where I regularly come for my gas and my car wash. Funny thing is I get a fill up and a $9 car wash and find out that the manager doesn't trust his employees. What? You say; well, apparently they cannot be trusted in getting our free car washes once we have stamped 5 times. That's the first encounter. Second encounter, I go to use my $9 car wash and because I wanted to save time I put in my five digit code number before a car decides to drive out of the car wash. Did you know I would like to give a shout out to the customer who paid for a new car wash for me :-) that in so doing that voids your car wash? Well, I didn't. So now my car wash has been used and my car is dirty. Third encounter. Because the managers not there to sign off for my car wash I need to wait 3 more days and hope that the "manager signs me off for my paid carwash. I don't know about you but I really don't feel the love here. So, if you see a tan Honda looking really filthy its me my car didn't get washed the managers not there and I'm PO. Needless to say, I will not be returning there for a fill up of my tank nor will I go there for a car wash. I hope that you do not find the same treatment. However, if you do, I told you so.
