I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after multiple bad experiences, I feel people deserve to know what they're walking into. Every time my friends and I have visited this business, we've been treated with disrespect. We've experienced rude customer service, employees making accusations without evidence, and an overall hostile attitude toward customers. On one visit, an employee slapped a bag of Hot Cheetos out of someone's hands, which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Instead of treating customers with respect, the staff often seem confrontational and quick to escalate situations. We've also been accused of things we didn't do, which made us feel unwelcome and unfairly judged. One employee, Chris, was especially disrespectful and unprofessional in the way he spoke to customers. There is no excuse for employees to insult or curse at people while representing a business. Professionalism and basic respect should be the minimum standard. After several negative experiences, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful customer service. I hope management takes these complaints seriously and works on creating a more professional environment for future customers. read more

This place is a POS! Clearly, no pride of ownership. Trash everywhere, no paper towels, employees parked right in front of the front door. I live right up the street in this quaint neighborhood and when I pull in to this property I feel like I'm in downtown LA. Oh, and if you have any issues, cross your fingers that you don't end up dealing with the bitchy, self-proclaimed "Manager"... I find it hard to believe that anybody would put this bitch in charge. I've been coming to the station for a while and have never had a bad experience. The employees are always extremely friendly and are always very welcoming when you walk in. Like anywhere, prices are high right now for everything. With that being said, I've definitely had better service at this station than I have at similar stations in the area. The exterior is also kept nice and clean. However, I would AVOID the Car Wash because it does NOT dry your car all the way. read more

This is the busy little gas station /market on Tamarack and the 5. Be careful in this parking as people are really running in and out of here rather recklessly sometimes. The market is good they have their fried fast food stuff but they also have healthy choices, lots of selection on cold beverages and coffees, an ok restroom. Good prices on gas. Just bear in mind Arcos do not take credit cards, only debit and cash. And even on debit there is an additional .35$ fee. Car wash is a good quick drive through...WHEN it works. Its broken a lot and sometimes it will wash and not dry! So you haul your behind onto the 5 to zip up and down to dry! Lol Overall a good pit stop! read more

First off I always forget that you can only use debit and that there is always a .35 cent fee. I guess that's not necessarily a negative just their business model. Either way it kind of bugs me. I have been to this gas station plenty of times and it is not the cleanest store. The bathrooms today were pretty bad and COVERED in gang graffiti. I told the clerk about the graffiti inside the men's room not knowing if it was new and she just stared at me, it was weird. I took this as a sign that it is common at this location. Today I stopped by on my way to Carlsbad beach and had the worst experience when dealing with the clerks at this AM PM off of Tamarack over a cup of ice that was clearly advertised at a set price. Not only did the clerks refuse to honor the price but were extremely rude when I said I would not be paying more then the advertised/printed price which I pointed out to them after noticing my total for a few bottles of water and the ice didn't add up. (Yes the kid tried to over charge thinking I wouldn't notice) Long story short I decided to not purchase any of the items I had selected and walked away extremely annoyed by this encounter that would have been easily avoided if the hired help put the least bit of effort towards decent customer service instead of the eye rolling condescending demeanor I got from both the yound man and the older woman behind the registers. Needless to say, the next time I head over in that direction I'll be making a left towards the local grocery store which im sure will also have better prices. read more

Pretty clean gas station, although bathrooms could use a remodel. Didn't see any weirdos around, and they have pretty decedent selection of drinks, and snacks. It's a gas station though, so it's not overly a special place. It's kept up though, so I gave a few stars so they know where they stand with other arcs stations. read more

This is a one of the worst AM/PMs around for some very good reasons: - It's usually really dirty. Somebody go rent a pressure-washer for the lot & pumps, mmmkay? - No beer. Seriously. The rationale is that there's an elementary school nearby. This rule does not seem to affect the bar next door. - Carwash sucks and is better at removing antennae and mirrors than dirt. - Carwash "discount pricing" sucks. Get a carwash, get 10c a gallon off... except that the price on the pump stays the same. Lucky customers instead get to go inside the store and wait in line to claim a handful of change from the clerk. The employees have always been really friendly to me when I've gone here and the gas prices are relatively cheap compared to other gas stations in the area. Went here to get gas. They advertise a lower price at the pump if you buy a car wash. I thought sure why not, I'll get a wash. I go inside and pay for a car wash plus prepay for my pump at the same time. When I go to pump gas, the machine was showing the higher price. I go back inside, not very pleased but remaining calm, and explain to the cashier that my pump is displaying the more expensive price. She responds, "oh, you needed to buy the most expensive car wash ($9) for that to apply." I say, ok can I have a refund? She says no. No? I can't have a refund? What do you mean I can't have a refund? I just gave you cash, all you have to do is give me the same cash back and refund me. She wouldn't understand. Okay, I'll pay for the more expensive car wash, which is $4 more. She rings me up and says, okay that will be $9. No! I already paid $5 so I owe you $4. This went on for quite some time, all the while her giving me tons of attitude and trying to ring up other people without fixing my situation first. Ultimately, she refused to give me my money back or find someone who would (she claimed she was the only one working) and threatened to call the cops. They owe me $44 for un-pumped gas and an un-used car wash. They are worth zero stars if possible. read more

Everytime I come to this ampm my experience here have been awful. I usually get a cuppacino before I go surfing in the morning and all three times the machine has been broken or they stick their finger in the machine to try to fix it (where the coffee is) which was unpleasant. When I ask them to take a look at the machine its like they ignore me and don't say anyting, which made me walk out the door. I was walking to the bathroom one time and the hallway was skinny and I was trying to get by so I said "excuse me" to an employee that was stocking or something, she moved an inch at most. I walked around 2 aisles to get to the bathroom only to walk out a second later due to the disgusting state of the bathroom. The photo with a long line of customers waiting for service tells the true story. This store is staffed the slowest laziest employees I have ever seen. Employees have no sense of when to open another register, no sense of urgency when long lines, no creating sales turn over for the owner. They have been slow for years and staff do not care. By far the worst service of any ARCO in the State and I know since we live nearby. I can leave my place in the register line, drive two blocks to another station, fill car with gas, pay, come back to this ARCO, and the same people are still there in same line. The pay at the pump convenience have all been de-activated on every pump. You should avoid this gas station if you have anything mildly important to do. read more

I got locked out of my car tonight while pumping gas. I went inside to ask the clerk if I could use the phone to call AAA. The two clerks were so incredibly kind. They helped me get the number for AAA so I could get back into my car. The male clerk then proceeded to check on me about every five minutes to make sure I was safe. I think as far as gas in carlsbad goes this place is a great deal because it is very cheap. It's probably the cheapest around. Yes the gas is even cheaper if you buy a car wash; I don't see the point in being mad at the price difference like the other reviewers. Also, their are tons of pumps so you never have to wait. The car wash broke a grill on the hood of my car. Then on the way out of the car wash, the blowers broke it off the car and flung it across the forecourt. Not their fault, accidents happen. Went inside to let them know what had happened. The man on duty just said "Come back when the manager is in." No explanation of when that would be or anything. Got on the AM PM website and sent an email to the customer service department, telling them the full story. Did the same on the ARCO website, trying to get in contact with someone who could help me. 5 weeks and no reply, so I went into the store. Again got told to come back when the manager was in. Instead I asked for an email address for the manager. It was just a gmail with a collection of random numbers and letters, so I was suspicious. Emailed that address, no reply. Waited a week, emailed again, no reply. $400-$500 damage to my car with no attempt to even contact me. Terrible customer service through all avenues. read more

There's so much I dislike about this gas station, but it's 1:30 in the morning, and I don't feel like writing it all. I'll just state these few things: It's always crowded. And, the cashiers seem to go slow. They have no sense of urgency. I'm not saying they have to run all over the place, but it looks like they go slower than they should. The fact that it's "cash only" at pumps. That's annoying. Lastly, this dumb promotion they often have where you get a card stamped when you buy any drink there, and after 4, you get the 5th one free. This location, as well as the one near Fallbrook, use a hole punch thing. The other AM/PMs use an ink stamp, with the logo printed on it. Well, when my card fills up, the other locations WILL NOT accept the card with the hole punch. So I asked this location why they still use that if it isn't taken from the other locations. This manager told me, "We've asked the corporation numerous times, and they lag and just won't send us the new one. But, if other locations don't take it, just come back here." Yeah, well...I'm driving a lot and in various locations. I can't do that. How about if your company does a promotion, they get their head out of their butt, and run it properly. That is all.
