Let me tell you about the sweet 7-eleven lady who works here. The two nights I stayed here I was hoping to come in for a cup of decaf coffee to bring back to the place I was staying at to watch the sunset, it was the perfect way to end my night. However the first night I came in, they had no decaf brewed. I always found that interesting, at the end of night you would think they would always have decaf on because people tend to stay away from caffeine the later it is in the night. Anyways, they didn't have any brewed but when I asked her about it she was so happy to go and brew me a fresh pot. Second night, same thing I came in around 7, no decaf and when she saw me she ran over and put on a fresh pot of decaf. I so appreciated this more than she knows, great customer service! read more

I came here to buy sunscreen yesterday. The price on the shelf was 3.99, but I was charged 10.76. While checking out, the cashier was speaking a different language on the phone and told me to tap and pay very briefly. He did not provide me with a receipt and urged me out of the store. I am only leaving 1 star and that is strictly for the women that work there, every time I go in there all of them are running around and doing something but when I go in at night and the evening they are all on their phones or just standing around doing nothing and for heavens sake there was one working out overnight. AND YOU WON'T GET YOUR MONEY BACK AFTER PAYING SINCE THEY HAVE A NO RETURN NO REFUND POLICY. I left my headphones at home so I decided to stop in and purchase one. They had a couple of choices - one for $24.99 and the other for $14.99. I decided to go with the cheaper one. I paid for it and as I was about to leave the store, I quickly realized on my receipt that the headphones were listed as $15.99. So I returned back to the counter and pointed out THEIR MISTAKE. The cashier told me she couldn't give me a refund because of their NO RETURN NO REFUND policy. I asked if she can just cancel the transaction and re-ring the items I purchased since it has literally been only a minute or so since she completed my transaction. She said she can't do that and that my only option was to get something else for $1. I told her I didn't want anything else from the store and that there was nothing exactly for $1 anyways. I can not believe how unprofessional these 711 employees are. The other day I stopped by, was only in for maybe 3 min. And the whole time a manager was yelling at his employees. This time, the same guy was yelling at his employees in front of customers again and the back(maybe stock room) smelled like marijuana. Not a smart idea when you have kids walking in asking what the funny smell is. For the short time I'm in there, I felt super stressed and bad for those employees. My wife and I were at the Carlsbad Inn (It is right across the street) near San Diego and this is the best 7-11 I have ever been to. They are next to a killer sub sandwich place (Board and Brew) that has $2 off great beers during their happy hour and their fridge is full of great local beers at pretty reasonable prices for a store right on the beach. I bought a bunch of Flamas flavored sunflower seeds, which are not available in Minnesota (I usually bring about 20 bags home, since they are perfect cubicle dwelling snacking at home.) The guys at the counter are always cool and seem genuinely happy to be helping you. Great store! read more

Store is stocked well, but very unpleasant experience on four separate occasions due to atrocious customer service. Each of those four times (over a 6 month span), the women employees were ill-mannered, snapping at customers almost every visit. This was odd, being that the customers I saw appeared to be respectful to the employees & their store. Stopped by to get a soda and candy after a long day of travelling and found this 7-Eleven location. Their prices seemed more reasonable than your average 7-Eleven. From slur-pees to candy and soda, they have it all at good prices and have free parking for customers. While checking out, I accidentally left my phone and no more than five seconds later, a gentleman chased me down with it. Given that it was running low on battery and I was in town on business, losing it would have been a critical issue. I ran out of water on my run so stopped in here to fill up my water/fuel belt. Unfortunately, no recycle cans around so I had to run with my empty bottle. I just can't bring myself to throw a recyclable item in the trash. Who would've thought trying to do the right thing will take so much effort. Perhaps 7-Eleven can invest in at least one can? This is a perfect spot to pick up a drink or snacks right before you head out to the beach. During the summer months, it can get a little crazy but giving them 3 stars for the convenience. They even sell beach supplies here in the event you need them. The gal working tonight was VERY friendly. Probably the friendliest worker that I've ever encountered here. I feel obligated to give this 7-11 an automatic one star upgrade. Why you ask? Well, during the Summer months this location has inflatable killer whales on display for tourists. I'd stop by to pick up typical 7-11 fare from time to time (lotto tickets, alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks, the Reader, the occasional bag of chips, a Red-Box DVD) and always got a kick out of this 7 ft. tall whale staring at me while I purchased my items. He had this happy...goofy kinda look on his plastic face. I'd certainly never purchase this "impulse buy" but got a kick out if it none the less. Well, I was watching NFL football last week and got a strange text from my GF. It was a picture of this whale sticking out of both sides of her friend's white truck (it was a tight fit to say the least) and within minutes the new addition to our home arrived. Yes, they purchased the 7-11 whale after bar hopping in Carlsbad. This thing is freaking HUGE. For awhile we had the flippers or arms of the great beast on either side of our fence, like he's trying to escape and race across the street to the ocean. We later decided the whale (Mr. Whaley the 7-11 magic whale) was placed atop out patio umbrella. You know, so all the passersbys could enjoy what looked to be a magic flying whale in Carlsbad. Yes, my GF still stands by her purchase. She later defended her purchase (and the new addition to our family) with the defense "It just felt right." She was also pleased when she purchased the item. They (the 7-11 employees) were willing to sell her a whale but not the display whale...but who wants to blow up a 7 ft whale? So, after a little negotiating they settled on a $5.00 additional charge to just buy the display whale...nicely done L! I was in 7-11 the other day. I was buying a Yoo-Hoo chocolate beverage because I needed extra vitamins and turned to where the whale used to stare at me and what did I see....a dolphin. To be continued. This 7-11 has the friendliest workers and best selection/quality of coffee! It's larger than the typical 7-11 and is always kept meticulously clean and organized. Their random selection of tchotchke is usually pretty interesting. I've bought everything from sunglasses to candy to sushi from this place and have always been satisfied. Their coffee setup is what really sets them apart. The coffee is in individual thermos' instead of scalded glass pots, which really makes a difference in the flavor! read more

This is one of the nicer 7-Elevens I've been too. You'll find more here than junk food and drinks. They have craft beer, booze and inflatables which is certainly a winning combo for a fun night. Friendly staff, nice variety of hot coffee. Little bit over priced for gas station coffee IMO. Lots of parking and not too busy. I'm not particularly fond of the Solo lids they use for their coffee cups and their Brazilian Dark Roast wasn't my favorite. For the same price you could get a Starbucks Dark Roast which has much better flavor and for a cheaper price you could go to AM PM and get a better tasting Brazilian Dark Roast as well. There's way more that they provide here at 7-Eleven than just coffee but this review is based simply on that aspect because that's all I got from this location. The lady working was all by herself from what I saw and she was busily working to take care of customers as well as maintain the coffee supply, she even complimented me on my outfit. Four stars for being a great store! The friendliest staff, very clean and well-kept and -stocked, and ample parking. Oh yeah, you're near the beach, but that didn't factor in to my rating. I docked one star because the California roll they sold there was absolutely terrible. I'll never buy another packaged California roll from a 7-Eleven again. Keep in mind you will likely find a better selection at a specialty store, but if you just closed the bar and 7-Eleven is still selling you will be happy to know that you won't have to be "Up for Anything" with p!ss water beer. read more

I enjoy this 7-11 as a local and regular. The store is always clean and uncluttered. Also, the cashier Sylvia always is willing to make a pizza I order regularly when I come in with a smile.
