Do not trust them! I went through the whole process of transferring a car to this location, I paid the transfer and Carmax confirmed they had it and were inspecting it. They didn't. 3 days before they confirmed it arrived it was sold in Nashville. Despite the "guaranteed hold" they had on it. They never had it in the state of GA to begin with. They did keep my money though! Fast forward to yesterday when I bought another car from them, did the paperwork, went through the online appraisal application, received a guarantee, etc. I didn't see any of that info or the car itself under my online profile and there was no pickup date. So I decided to come here today in person to pick up the car, they have no info for me. They have to do another appraisal, new financing (despite running my credit report twice yesterday due to a "glitch"). And they didn't have the car ready. So the "sign 2 papers and you'll be out of there" was a literal actual lie. Now they are telling me the title for my trade-in has to be signed by my husband as well as me even though yesterday they confirmed only I would need to sign since everything has my name on it. This was confirmed by 2 separate people. Take my GD money omg. Carmax has failed at literally every possible step of this process, twice! If they tried they couldn't have failed more than they have. Their online process and all these "guarantees" (their words, NOT MINE) failed. Both the manager and sales associate both confirmed today in person that their "guarantees" aren't enforceable, so beware!! Avoid. At. All. Costs. Go with Carvana. My husband bought a car from them and their guarantees are actually guarantees. read more

My car buying experience at CarMax was great. However, the service department is a nightmare. This is the second time I've taken my car in and the second time they didn't fix any of the issues. Both times I had an 8:30am appointment and both times I didn't get my car back, unfixed, until 3:30pm. They don't call you back unless you call multiple times. I even called corporate and they had a hard time finding anyone, in any department, to pick up the phone. When they finally call back they had only just looked at my car (5+ hours after my appointment) and they didn't notice the noise that I hear CONSTANTLY while driving it. I have MaxCare but will not be using it anymore as I still have to pay $150 for the appointment and nothing was done. Whole day wasted and I still have to make an appointment somewhere else to get it fixed. read more

Salesman named KJ gave me attitude and started rolling his eyes when I started to say "Civics aren't what they were" meaning they're much bigger and nicer than the old style ones thinking I was saying something negative. They sell cars with open recalls and fail to inform customers prior to purchase. They also sell cars that have damages caused by accidents that they intentionally withhold from the customers prior to purchase which is illegal. If you must buy a car do a lot of homework on the specific vehicle you are interested in before signing that dotted line. Check the vehicle for signs of water damages as well. Buy Wise! read more

Get on the phone to make payment to transfer the car from out of state to the Norcross location and - SURPRISE! - they inform me that someone else also had the car on hold and that they had placed said hold minutes before mine. After contacting cooperate carmax actually started to do something about our issues. Cooperate helped us out and seemed generally concerned. As far as the staff in the service department, Jamal i believe who is a service manager was helpful and went out of his way to help us and another person named Ta Ta came off rude and abrasive and gave little concern. She also had a horrible tone with me and my wife in front of my infant child and kept ensuring she was wasting our time. The seller named Sylvana is a great person. She's nice, friendly, and enthusiastic. However, the cars' quality is, I can say, not good at all. I met so many problems with 3 cars bought from here, just about 1 month after the date I bought. That means this location doesn't check their cars carefully before they sell to their customers. My salesperson was Dre Oglesby and he was absolutely fantastic! He was patient, listened to my needs, and helped me find a car that I loved. In general I really hate car shopping because of pushy salespeople but Dre was the exact opposite. His sales approach is very consultative and he asked a ton of questions to help me narrow my selections down. CarMax has a lot of inventory and narrowing down to a few selections requires you to make specific choices about what you are looking for. Dre asked me for my must haves and continued to to ask questions to help me make a final decision. This service is ridiculous. I bought my car 2 days ago at another Carmax location. All the check engine lights and brake lights and hybrid system lights came on while driving and so I was told to take it to Carmax and they would service car and give me a loaner. So I bring car and they have no loaners so they give me a Lyft back home. The next day I'm told they have to send my car to the dealer for assessing the problem, but they still cannot give me a rental car because it's "spring break" and they are so busy. I ask why another location cannot provide loaner car and the guy says because they are a different store and I'd have to deal with it myself. I explain my frustration to him and that I can't get to work without a car, and he says "yeah, I understand" but provides ZERO solution. When I ask if my car problem will be covered under Carmax warranty since it's less than a month that I've had it, he said "probably." Wtf?! I paid to have a car transferred from out west at a cost of over 1k based on the description and photos posted online. Once car was received by Roswell CarMax and I was told to come in for a test drive with an appointment the issues began. I went in after driving 30 miles and they said car was not ready and to come back in a day. When I came back the next day the car had several large scratches that had not been disclosed in photos or the description. Also the seats were worn and stained that could not been seen in their photos. I would have not paid for transfer based on real condition of car. When I asked for the manager she was out and the assistant manager said they will not refund transportation charge as they highlight on their terms. I said I understand if I were not buying the car because I did not like it but that it was bait and switch based on their description and photos on line versus the actual condition in person. He was unable to provide me a business card for himself or his manager but said he would discuss with manager, but their policy as stated does not refund for moves between stores. I ask him about the scratches that had been painted and made worse and he said CarMax probably did that at a service center and made it worse but refused to credit me back any money. He even stated that they tell customers not to transfer between stores as those scratches are acceptable for their cars. I am waiting to hear from general manager but I would suggest never paying for a transfer based on their online photos and descriptions as it is deceptive. CarMax should do better and recognize when there is a true issue in their marketing of cars and refund money to customers who have a genuine concern for purchase. Buyer beware with CarMax. read more

So far so good. I was told there would be a long wait for a sales rep. Expected since i had no appt on a Saturday late morning. We asked to go look at the lot and they pointed us to the right direction. Not even five minutes into seeing the car I came to look at, Orell called and we told him where we were. Minutes later on a test drive. Took a few hours to do paperwork, get an estimate for trade in and detail the car and off we went. The cars antenna was broken and they ordered one. Manuals weren't in the car and we were reimbursed for my order of one. Service wasn't open on Saturday to get the antennae but one call to Orell fixed that. Great dude! I take my car here for service, because the prices are good. I've purchased 3 cars and sold cars through Carmax..... I'm never disappointed with the sales team; they've always been honest and friendly. Leslie (sales woman from this location) is super sweet, patient and just an all-around awesome person. When we buy, we go online and find 2-3 cars that we wanna view, complete the online app, shortly afterward someone will call.... we go in and view the cars, make a decision, sign and leave with our car. Its a simple and quick process.... took 3 hours from the time we entered Carmax until the time we drove away (including 2 test drives). We highly recommend Carmax! UPDATE: I had to change my review... instead of 5 stars, this location will now get 2 stars. I bought my car from this location in April. A month later, tire pressure started reading low in my front tires. So every few days I had to add air. After a few weeks it started to become adding air several times a day---we took a good look at the tires and noticed the tread was very worn and wire was poking out from the inside of the front 2 tires, which is very difficult to see without crawling almost all the way under the car. Anyway long story short.... we paid around $560 to replace the front 2 tires. There is no reason we should have had to replace those tires 2 months after purchase. I decided to contact the service manager--Brandon; we sent him the receipt, pictures and explained the issue. After attempting to cheer and praise his inspectors on their car inspections, I reminded him that they missed one--mine. Because why on Earth would I buy 2 new tires for a car I just purchased. He apologized and said that there was nothing that he could do. Again, this is my 3rd car from CarMax (1st time at this location) and any problem that I ever had in the beginning purchase was ALWAYS addressed by the service department (Lithia Springs & Kenneesaw)....I never had any worries before. But now, I feel like he didn't attempt to resolve my issue at all, like my business is not valued there, so I definitely will not purchase from that location again. My advice--- if you do decide to buy from there, take it to an independent mechanic to get everything inspected within your 72 hour purchase window. Good luck! read more

Fast forward two months, I finally purchase a car 2/19/21 and my sales personal Adam Bumpus was straight forward and all. They've got a wide variety of cars available and most of them are unlocked so you can sit in and push buttons to your heart's content. I haven't dealt with the salespeople directly, but I liked that they weren't breathing down my neck during my time on their lot. David Meaker My experience at this location was an absolute NIGHTMARE! I had previously booked an appointment to test drive a vehicle at this location and felt an unwelcoming vibe from the second i was greeted. Sales associate David Meaker was the one assisting me on this day and as i inquired about test driving the car i had booked to test drive i was told that i needed to fill out a credit app with them first because of the cars price. I have a friend that test drove a car at this same location when he was buying his car which was even more expensive than the one i was looking at and they gave him no issues with the test drive, just asked for his license and insurance info which is the same process i went through at a different location a couple of years ago with no issues. I told the salesperson about how my friend didn't have to go through these extra steps for a even more expensive car so why do i have to? But just was told the same exact "Yeah, for more expensive cars we can't let you test drive without an approval". Once he started taking my info for the credit app, he asked what i did for work and told him that i do rideshare and he immediately said that we can't approve you if you do that for work which i told him i have a car specifically for that and wont be using the new one for it and also know for a fact that this is not true since I've financed cars in the past while doing this work and know several other people who have as well and in any event that's something that the banks should be telling me if thats the case not the salesperson. I literally had to argue back and forth with this guy and instead of him trying to further help me i had to come up with my own solution and fill out a credit app on my phone and got a pre-approval which i showed him, he then put some info in his computer then told me the pre-approval wasn't good enough and i also needed proof of a down payment before I could go any further, i wasn't even offered to see the car. This BY FAR the the most poor customer service i have ever received, i felt judged and discriminated against. I most certainly wont be returning and already told several others about my experience and i advise anyone reading to keep this experience in mind before you go to this specific carmax location. read more

I dropped my car off to their service department to get my vehicle diagnosed and I picked up my car and it was damaged. The entire side of my car was damaged. The service department here is awful and my experience with this location was a total nightmare. Dylan, my advisor, was polite but worked harder not smarter - I had to tell him what I wanted done to the car. My car was in the shop for 19 out of the 32 days I owned it and the car was damaged by the service department two of the three times it was there. Here is a list of the problems: rattling sunroof, vibration when pressing brakes (two separate complaints after it was "fixed"), three warning lights for sensors (the same ones twice after they were "fixed" and a new one), seals around lights were deteriorating, condensation in a brake light, and finally, the rear driver's side sore just stopped opening. The car was only 4 years old. Although they gave me a clean car fax report, I believe the car had been involved in an unreported collision. The hood visibly vibrates when the car was in motion. The first set of damages was all four of my rims being scratched. The second of the damages resulted in the car being in their possession for a week and sitting under a tent with no window, they broke it accidentally while trying to remove a door panel. The service manager, TaTa was absolutely NO help at all. Her nonchalant attitude made me wonder if she even had a pulse at times. After requesting non-smoking loaner cars, I was given cars that gave me headaches and two of them even still had ashes in them. I feel like the quality of CarMax's service and vehicles has declined terribly in the past few years. When I finally returned the first car, lemon, I had another transferred in. I hope the next person who buys that car has a better experience than I did, as I'm sure the car isn't totally reconditioned. When the new car arrived, I was out of town and went to see it the next day. The car still had the previous owners dirt in it. I don't feel confident that the car was properly sanitized before I test drove it. The car, just like all the others on the lot were filthy inside and out. The salesperson who helped me with the new car was awesome. I felt he was honest and sold me a car that we was very familiar with. Orral was great, but I will NEVER buy a car from CarMax again because of the nightmare service I received from the service department. read more

Pressured by sales manager to buy another car from CarMax ("no one else will give you a 5 day return policy! We do a 200 point inspection on all vehicles bla bla bla"). I have called the dealership to be handed off to the finance departments of at least a couple different locations. I have emailed customer service and thought I had found someone who seemed willing to help in Kansas City but no, he has now dropped off too. I worked with Arthur Reams the whole week before, as they held the car for me and helped me have everything in order. I drove in and arrived to the dealership. Selling your car? I have found CarMax to be "lowball central." I mean, not even close. Over the last year, I brought a Wrangler, Audi Q5, and Escalade to them. They were $4K lower on the Jeep, $3K lower on the Q5, and $12K lower on the Escalade. In each case, I brought the vehicle to dealers who gave the higher amounts. So, I will not be wasting my time again in the future. My recommendation is to bring whatever you are selling to a new car dealer who sells the brand you are wanting to sell. Perhaps the process isn't quite as easy as CarMax's, but for me, the $17K more I got for the vehicles was obviously worth waiting slightly longer for a dealer to appraise. read more

So the drama continues....Carmax only partially removed the car from my credit they did an update leaving a 4000.00 balance . I called them and informed that the balance was from the warranty that I had purchased. And I asked what does that have to do with me and the removal of this from my credit. Was told that is how they do things .....I again asked WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME!!!!. Told them now they were in violation of FTCA FDCPA ....then i was told that it would take another 30 or more days to resolve. I told them to stop talking to me as if I am not well educated in most things pretending to credit and this particular issue I deal with on a regular basis and yet again they were giving me a bunch of nonsense. read more

I visited this Carmax location last year in search of a newer vehicle. When I arrived I met with Sylvia, a very knowledgeable sales consultant. I let her know exactly what I was looking for, and she helped me select a Mazda6, which I love. My overall buying experience with Sylvia was great! She was extremely patient and helpful throughout the entire process. My problems started once I got over to the business center. I signed my paperwork and officially purchased my vehicle back in 8/2016, and as of today, I still have not received a hard license plate. I've visited the Carmax business center several times, spent countless hours on the phone with business managers, and I still have no plate. Carmax told me that the tag office rejected my paperwork because it was missing an address verification from my co-buyer. I've contacted the Gwinnett County Tag Office a few times and was told that a drivers license for my co-buyer is all the verification they need. My co-buyers drivers license was submitted with the deal back in 2016. Even more, the clerk at the tag office told me that Carmax has never submitted my title paperwork for review, and they have no record of any rejections! My deal has been funded by the bank, I've been making timely payments since I made my purchase, but I still have no license plate due to a hold-up from Carmax. To make matters worse, I am being penalized for registering my vehicle late. I was told that I have to pay over $1,300 in late fees, $1,100 of which are the TAVT fee's that Carmax has been holding on to since last year. I am beyond disappointed with the service from the business center. I've been yelled and cursed at, and made to feel like I've done something wrong. read more

But the level of decency I was shown was horrible. I know I made minimum wage and was getting a van but Jesus... I was treated horrible. I was left multiple sitting by the sales agent auturo and after the manager Justin came over one time of asking for him he never came back. I requested auturo once more after sitting for 15 min to get everything resolved and he took 30 min to come back. By that time the employment verification line to my job was closed and he could care less. He showed attitude and could care less that I fought an Uber to come pick up my car. I will not be going back. I would rather get a car from another company. I will be calling corporate back as well. read more
