I used to really like Carmax but this place is terrible. Customer service skills are non existent.

Went to Carmax to sell a car. Everyone was nice, but super slow. Made a reservation and they skipped over my name. It took 50 minutes to see someone. The process for the appraisal was quick and the man checking over the car was super nice. Went to the counter and was told it would take 2 1/2 hours to get the check. It actually took 4 1/2 hours. I very long day. Sold a car and bought a car at Carmax in Vegas and that entire process took less than 3 hours and they were super busy that day. read more

My son was moving out of Orlando after graduating from UCF. So, I needed to sell his car fast. Car Max gave me a quote in writing which was valid for 7 days. It was a fair price and saved me the advertising and showing of the car to buyers since it was the holidays and I was doing a lot of travelling. I came back the following week and after some paperwork, they gave me a bank draft for the full amount. I couldn't have asked for a faster more polite service. I was completely satisfied with them. I would like to suggest a drop of service in a 3-5 mile radius for out of towners like me to get back to my hotel. Luckily I did find a ride back from a friend. But not everyone visiting orlando has a convenient friend. read more

Advertised 24 hour test drive then when I get to the dealership they tell me take it out for 10 minutes and come back and when I inquired about the 24 hour test drive they gave me a big run around. I was a serious buyer and could have easily purchased the vehicle. I feel like I was discriminated against because of my age and the way I look. Stay away from this place. I even over heard them say "are you sure you want this guy to test drive the car". They can keep there sub par fleet and throw it in the garbage where it belongs. We flew to Orlando to buy a 2019 Explorer since they had one we wanted in Fort Myers that could be transferred to Orlando. We arrived early for our appointment and discovered they were having a computer problem which affected our out of state taxes and registration. Due to the delay they offered to put $30 toward our lunch and we accepted. As we were returning Feisal called us and said that they had a work around. The car ended up having some unexpected damage that had not been relayed to us. They (Daniel, a manager) gave us a "voucher" to have the work done at our local CarMax (it was done later and came out great). Everything else went very smoothly. Highly recommended. read more

Had an iffy experience with Carmax. I purchased a rather expensive Porsche and the first day I had the car I found out it had a nail in the tire and I had to buy a brand new tire the first day I owned the car. Carmax was good and reimbursed me the expense but it was a hassle and this should have been noticed the night I test drove the vehicle and the low air pressure light was on. Also the check engine light has been coming on from time to time and I have only owned the car for 2 weeks. I will have to bring it in to get this looked at if it persists, it could be an electrical issue. I got a blank check loan the evening before Thanksgiving. On Thursday, Thanksgiving, I looked online for different cars. I made contact on Friday with a sales rep. Bubba. He put a hold on the car I liked. I had a hard time getting in touch again with him as he was very busy selling cars. His colleague Ben helped me out. I went in on Saturday and test drove the car from Tampa. The next day I went back in and signed the paperwork to buy the car. It took me only a few hours from start to finish once we knew that was the car I wanted. The car buying process for me was a bittersweet one. I was going to get something more family orientated, but decided to get what I wanted for a change. In 2004 as a teenager I was in a terrible accident and almost died. My first car was a 1998 Camaro and it was totaled when I hit a patch of ice and couldn't stop the vehicle. My brake job was found not to be done correctly and the calipers weren't secured making the car turn into a bob sled. I hadn't been behind the wheel of another Camaro since 2/26/2004. I bought the new Camaro because it was just time to do something for myself, and besides, my sons car seat can fit just fine in the backseat of a Camaro! They are actually very spacious inside more so than some lower end sedans I tried out! I am glad I went to CarMax and not to Fucillo's for a Kia. CarMax put their vehicle history upfront. I knew the new Camaro I was getting only had 1 owner and had low miles, its basically new. I felt more secure with CarMax's brand and the fact I didn't have to negotiate prices with a rep. all day long. I didn't feel intimidated or pressured. Likewise, I was the one pressuring and making all the contact, so I could get the car. The dealership itself didn't offer many bells and whistles. They had a vending machines and a bank of computers for printing documents. I didn't get suckered in with some Black Friday gift card. It was an enjoyable experience compared to my other dealership experiences with several big names in the area. I am glad I bought a Camaro from these folks and I would return in the future. read more

I made an appointment, got an "offer" online. When I showed up, I called the phone number shown on the sign for my circumstances. When I called it, there were NO directions on what to expect or do. The recording said "if you need a quote, and didn't have an appointment, come in to check in", which didn't relate to me. I waited 15 minutes, the cars on either side had someone come to check them in. So I went in to tell them I was there, and after that, I was taken care of. Most of it went smoothly. read more

I have bought 2 cars from Carmax. The sales part is great, but the service department has always and still is the poorest excuse for a service department I have ever seen. I grew up in dealerships, so I know how good service is supposed to be. They have had my car for over 2 weeks, and I have had to deal with 4 different staff/service writers, but can't get a manager to call me back. I keep getting the run around because they don't know how to fix the car, and had to send it to the chevy dealership across the street. The Service manager, Steve, is either never there, and he clearly doesn't know how to return a call, so it isn't surprising that the service center is so poorly run, no accountability. Also, the hours at this service department are very rigid, as they are not open on weekend. Truly, if it wasn't for the warranty, I wouldn't use this dealership for service as the it is a joke! read more

Oh my goodness, where do I begin? If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Super aggressive sales rep, took my cash, and 2 days after we drove off the lot, my engine light & tire sensor lights go on( covered under the 30 days) I bring it in, arguing with the guy that this location is an hour from my home and another our to my job. They "Check" everything and in one day tell me the car is good. I drive out, 20 minutes home & the sensor lights go on again! They want me to take off days of work to fix something that should have been initially handled. They tell me to take it to Hyudai which is closer to my house and they'll take care of the repairs. Well Hyudai knows nothing and according to Jason at Hyudai Carmax Spencer told them to just replace the sensor batteries which according to Hyudai wasn't the problem or diagnosed by them! Here I am going on over 3 weeks dealing with the same problem! I called to speak to Spencer or Steve 4 times and nothing. I'm so disgusted I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, they take your money and that's it, they'll treat you like crap after they have your cash. My daughter and I spent over $6000 in 2 days & purchased 2 cars in 2 days! Very disappointed! read more

This is just a word of warning to anyone considering Carmax for your next car. Their quality standards are below anything I have seen. I purchased a car, the dash was cracked but I was assured that it would be repaired to their standards. 4+ attempts and it still looks terrible. At this point they say it meets their quality standards and they won't repair it anymore. It should have been replaced plain and simple. If they will settle for this kind of repair on something the customer can see, just imagine what they will throw together on something you can't see. Also, they broke my windshield and tried to pass off a non OEM one, which I caught and had to wait an additional week for the OEM glass. Complete nightmare! read more

Up until recently I would have given this dealership a 5 star rating. I have personally bought, sold, and traded more than 7 cars over the past 10 years without a hitch. Recently I've had nothing but poor customer service, bought a car from them that was in an unsafe condition for driving that was promptly returned, and had nothing but bad experiences with their auto finance department. The latter of theses being more so true when they owe me money...I will never do business with this dealership again...There is something fishy going on with this place. If your looking for a great pre-owned vehicle go see Henry Rafacz the Senior Sales Consultant over at Carmax Orlando, the entrance located off of LeeVista blvdand, he will definitely get you a great deal on a great vehicle. And to get you squared away and off in your newley purchased vehicle go see Debbie in the Transfer department and she will get you out and riding nice and quick. An employee from the call center based in another state made an appointment for me to view a car the following day and placed a hold on the vehicle for me. I drove an hour and a half, paid $6 in tolls to arrive where the appointment was held, however, the car had been sold the day before. No one was interested in providing an explanation. So; I rarely review places simply because I know every business has its good and bad days. This goes double for the first time I visit a place. With that being said, I was so appalled by the utter lack of customer service or respect that I felt compelled to leave a review for this location. I was driving my neighbors son, who was home from Army training, around to dealerships in an attempt to find him a good, used vehicle. After we visited a few other dealerships, we stopped for lunch so he could look online to see if he could find a vehicle in the area. He found 3 vehicles at this Carmax location so that is where we headed next. As we walked in we were "greeted" by a salesman. He asked if we needed anything and I simply said "not right now, we are just going to look through the lot". The salesman's responded with "Oh, so I guess you don't need any help then." which he then repeated three more times. Finally I told him exactly what we were looking for since he was now following us. After telling him which car we were looking for, he gestured to a general area of the lot and said "It's over there somewhere." We find the vehicle and start debating the additional costs that would get added to the sticker price. We explained that he had a hard cap on how much he wanted to spend; it was at this point that it became very obvious that this guy had zero interest in helping him find a car on his budget ($12,500). Now mind you; the only required fees are tax, tag and title. Not sure what the policy is on the additional Carmax fees they add on; but it didn't matter because this guy wasn't offering even a glimmer of hope (we are talking a matter of $200-300 to get the car down to this young mans range as he did have some cash should it go above his financing cap). This was all capped off by the salesman killing all hope when he said "Well I'm going back inside because I'm cold out here" after about 5 minutes of being out on the lot. Well who the hell told you to wear shorts to a job where you primarily work outside!! Never again Carmax; everybody deserves a chance and boy did you do a fantastic job of losing two potential customers! Well done indeed. read more

Purchased 2016 lexus under 30k miles waited for the car as got it shipped from tennessee and paid fees. Car came on 30 december 2019, learnt from Bill Airbuckle was on vacation said Mr dave Estep will be finishing up the sale. So we called the supervisor Mr John. B. he said he is overlooking the sale and Dave should be able to help. Went to dealership took test driv saw previous owner license plate still in the car and the vehicle was dirty from inside. So got curious so checked the air filter in front of Dave Airfilter was nasty Dave said will get it replaced, So from the test drive learnt the car had little vibration and told Dave to get it check (Asked Him about CARMAX 125 POINT INSPECTION) NO ANSWER HE SAID MUST HAVE GOT CHECKED AT SANFORD TENNESSEE as they usually do. Next day on 30 december called Supervisor MrJohn.B conveyed him that we are patiently waited for this car and need to be inspected thoroughly before delivery and payment and he assured to me on the phone and in person while picking up the car that yes our service manager Mr Ben has checked and it is good to go at 6pm. So we rushed to the dealrship and paid and picked up the car. Supervisor Mr John. B said please deal with Mr Jim now he will be finishing up the sale. Which he did and we took the car home after payment. So next day we went to Miami for trip and the car was vibrating in high speed aand more vibration came while braking so definetly there is problem. CArmax has not done proper job and yes......125 point inspection.??????? So we returned after 3 days back to orlando and next thing is the Battery went out. Got the car towed to Carmax Orlando store. Took to Mr steven service managerI told him to pull service record on the car and he said oil change was done on the car in Tennessee carmax. I also told him to test drive and vibratios from the wheels. He came back to me and aid car needs new brakes and rotors, new cabin filter as well and New battery was installed so far car is running okay. But question to Carmax manager inspite of asking and telling the supervisor to do his job (inspect the car and clean up) nothing was addressed by him or the Mr.Ben (service manager Sanford,fl Location). We came with the name Carmax where the car buying needs to be ( I dont belive in that statement.) I paid full price for the car also purchased extended coverage but was not happy with the entire transaction. btw Mr Bill Airbuckle was excellent sale rep wish he was there through out the entire transaction. This Carmax location went from 5 stars down to 1. I had to write a review. I'll start with the good service I had in December of 2014. My AC on my Bmw went out so I went into the service center with my and warranty and I was promptly greeted and they instantly looked at my car to check if the A/C worked since it's extremely simple to do. Well long story short, I turned down the loaner car since I had my own second car and the repair took two months long because of a lot of complications they had. I'm Not sure exactly what it was but it was it took a a while. I never complained even told them to take their time and at the end the boss paid my deductible and the representative told me the service work would be covered for the rest of my max warranty term. I probably miss took that as this repair being covered but my current issue of directly related to my previous repair. Last summer my A\C stopped blowing from all vents except the windshield and since we rarely ever drove this car we decided it wasn't a rush job for us. So today I take a trip to this location again to bring my car back in for repair and i talked to a service tech. I explained the problem and what I was told about the warranty work and he told me that they only offer 6 months on previous repair work when I was told it was for the lifetime of my max warranty. At this point I'm a not angry and decided to deal with the deductible butch at really pissed me off was the treatment of the employee. My car won't blow a/c from any other went and they could have easily checked it and took the car but since I live an hr away. Instead he tells me I have no choice but to set up appointment that is a week away. I then complain about how easy it is to check and I didn't have this problem last time, so instead of being nice or asking a manager this he tells me to go to Bmw for faster service but be prepared to spend more on your deductible. This is obviously an issue that was developed from previous repair work and instead of being nice and taking the car they pushed me out the door without even talking to a manager. I bought two Bmw cars from carmax, with two warranty's and after being treated like im nothing and telling me to go to Bmw I'm never buying another car at Carmax again and I'm immediately going to my bank and getting both of my cars refinanced out of the Carmax loans. One employee just cost the company thousands in interest and additional car purchases. I'm not giving another dime to a company that prefers to tell you to go somewhere else over a simple a/c button check when I live an hour away. Service has gone downhill! Avoid at all costs! The cars that were for sale were overpriced compared to a few dealerships we had been too and they don't negotiate since it's a "no-haggle price". Then, they gave us the appraisal for our car which was insanely low! 2 car dealerships offered $2,000 more for the car than Carmax did. Needless to say, we left and got a great deal on a car elsewhere and got much more for our car than Carmax offered. Never going to Carmax again!! read more

Piss poor customer satisfaction! Management will treat you like an idiot or a neusance. Military deployment forced a quick sale, so that part wasn't an issue, I only had one request. They purchased my 3 yrs old Cadillac at a very low price, great for them....all I asked was that they comp a 1 day rental car to the airport so that I would not be stranded in Orlando prior to my deployment. I spoke with the sales manager (Rita) who displayed ZERO interest in my satisfaction as a customer, or if I'd ever like to do business here again! She also pulled the "I am the supervisor...and no we can't get the boss out here...how cliché and lame!) I understand if it is not policy to comp a rental car, so I simply asked for a ride to the airport to get my own car...once again, the answer was a resounding NO. Wow, I have never seen such a lack of customer consideration. Now, the sales dept was fine, courteous, and professional. But the management needs to work on acting like they give a damn about the customers who have just given them thousands in potential profit. I gave one extra star for the sales tem otherwise Rita made it a 0. I certainly won't be back, and you can thank Rita for that, Carmax. read more

I just bought a truck from CarMax. The truck was even better than it looked and was described over the net. The price very fair. The financing very acceptable. The whole process was smooth and relatively short and painless. The only problem was their link to the DMV went down which cost an extra half hour and they got my name wrong on the title application. I don't have any experience with service yet. One of the few times I bought something without checking with Yelp first. If I had, I would have skipped CarMax and then would have missed this great deal. Go figure. read more

This Carmax is extremely annoying. I live in the apartments behind it and all I hear throughout the day is constant trucks being loaded onto trailers, car alarms going off, yelling, and honking. They do all of this activity on a public road with busy traffic. When I drive by I have to drive extremely slow to not hit the trailer and other cars being loaded. How does a company like Carmax not have their own space to do this on their property. It's unsafe and causes noise and traffic disturbance. This really needs to be addressed and I will let the city of orlando know about this noise and traffic ordinance violations. read more

I had stopped in just to look at cars, to get an idea on what i ultimately wanted to buy. They had been busy that day, but the associate Wesley Baez helped me throughout the entire time i was there just walking and looking, was able to test drive the car i liked and ultimately ended up buying. I was set to pay with a cashiers check, but had to wait a couple of days for the check to be mailed from my home banking institution, and Wesley was more than willing to place a hold on the car for 2 days, while i waited for the check to be overnighted. When i came back in to finalize the sale and do the paperwork, he was more than helpful, despite being beyond busy that day. I would recommend him and carmax, as they are super helpful and it was a relatively painless experience! read more
