She is very knowledgeable, a great listener, fun to talk to and always mixes up my sessions. No PT session is ever the same and she challenges me at every session to do more than I think I am capable of doing. Ciara customizes every session based on how I am doing and always gives recommendations on ways to improve and get better. Because of her sessions, my knees have improved, and I am able to go on much longer walks and I am able to do my day-to-day activities with greater ease. My hip issues have improved dramatically. RISE in Solana Beach is a small PT office but they do a great job in their space to provide an hour of great, personalized PT care. I am fortunate to have found this great office and Ciara close by.

One issue was the room was very small, so I would be hitting my body when getting up. The PT or PTA should have moved the table out but I think they moved so this problem is probably resolved. My 2nd issue is one of the Pt or PTA used so much pressure that I had a black and blue bruise and was in a lot pain. My mom, a registered nurse, wanted me to go to urgent care as the bruising was really bad. My 3rd issue is after my prescription ran out from the doctor they told me I so come back for 12 PT more visits. They did not ask me to run that by my doctor at all. I ran it by 2 different orthopedic surgeons who said no wait until after surgery for more PT. The company then called me to schedule even though my doctors said to wait. From my experience, I do not think high of the PT at Proactive at all.

My care plan is not only 100% tailored to me, but Deanna also personalizes every session based on how I'm feeling both physically/mentally that day, integrating mental/physical well-being in her practice. She takes the time to listen/understand how my condition impacts my life, finds ways for me to integrate my home care routine more easily/efficiently into my lifestyle, explains how each exercise/stretch works, and creates new ones on the spot to help save me time by combining several into one. Deanna truly goes above/beyond by taking the time to help me better understand my condition anatomically, how it affects me physically, and took things a step further by helping me understand my MRI/x-ray impressions ordered by the pain docs but never explained to me in a way I could understand by them. At my first appointment, I was in a lot of pain and did not really see myself out of it. She asked me to give her 10 days and promised that I would feel better. And I did. Her massages were amazing and would help me loosen up right away. More importantly, she pointed out some issues in my posture and exercises to correct them. Initially, they didn't seem related to my area of pain at all but the more I did, the better I felt. She helped me strengthen muscles that I didn't realize even existed. She would give a few exercises to practice per session rather than a huge list that I had received a few years back at another establishment for a different injury. I set my goals to her early on: I wanted the pain gone, become stronger and then to go back to my gym routine. Mark is a focused, but empathetic, force in helping folks address what ails them. I'd thought I'd come to the end of my PT experiences with my Knee Replacement and, most recently, a Shoulder Replacement, but then got referred to work on my spine. Mark is an encouraging person who explains both the big picture, and the specifics of the attack plan to get better. He is also creatively flexible, responding to feedback from patients to craft a more effective workout. Mark flipped my disappointment with having to go back to PT, into a renewed motivation to address my spine, and to incorporate the weak knee and shoulder into continued strength-building and range of motion improvement. Mark's treatment team (the folks who set up the exercises, help patients do the exercises, and help patients maintain success momentum) are Jett, Miguel and Matt. These are the guys who help me get my form right, transition between exercises, and generally help with whatever a patient needs to excel. They are upbeat and full of energy, as well as perceptive enough to help patients fine-tune details of their performance. They help put each individual's plan into action; they are where the rubber meets the road. However, the billing person identified as Mike Smith (who I was told was her husband), billed for more than 10 sessions of Electrical Stimulation treatment. Checks were mailed to their office and deposited into their bank account. He stated the Electrical Stimulation treatment plan was a separate, second one. This is insurance fraud.
