It's about time. Elevators have been promised to be fixed for several years and only two of the three are operating at any given time. Management has been cutting costs and staffing levels to the point it is hard to get the help they promise in their contracts. Some of the caregivers are sweet and some are just sleepwalking through their shift. It must be hard to deal with often cranky old people all day. Tough gig. The independent living is the best offering here. Assisted living is okay and the memory care is below par. Management doesn't deliver the level of care they promise at that level.

We had such a great experience at Forest Hill. . The facility is very nice with view of a well manicured garden. The rooms are large and kept warm and cozy. The staff is kind, caring, compassionate and professional, from Jordan our wonderful case manager and Janet who communicated well and kind enough to order all the necessary equipment needed upon my husband's release. We loved all the wonderful caring nurses, to name a few Josie, Maria, both Isabella's, Nathen, Gordon , Gabie, the friendly PT staff, and all the other kind hardworking staff, house cleaning, kitchen, lundry staff . If someone can be found to wash clothes or bedding, it may take 24 hours or more to have it returned. The longer it takes to be returned the more likely it will be lost. Clothing will quickly deteriorate because no attention is paid to separating colored from whites and high heat is used to dry everything. On the bright side, the campus is beautiful, cleaning is skillfully handled, and there is an engaged activities director. Residents are friendly and easy to get to know.

He and I walked into Carmelo Park and immediately knew that it would be a wonderful place for my mother. We had initially visited Songbird, their Salinas location, because we know two other families who have loved ones residing there, but felt that Carmelo Park was a better fit for mom. It has been nearly two years since she moved in and she has adjusted well. Sadly, I can tell you that there are other, larger, facilities on the Monterey Peninsula where staff members do not even know the names or medical conditions of the residents they serve. That is not the case with Carmelo Park. The staff treat my mom like family because it is run by a family, not a large corporation. From the activities, parties, snacks, and music, to the loving care she receives, we couldn't have asked for more regarding mom's care. I can wholeheartedly recommend Carmelo Park and feel that their caring staff and administrators have been a blessing in all our lives. Agape and its nearby "sister home" Flanders Court are both very special places for loved ones who will receive better care then they could get at home which is ill prepared to provide full time care.
