Although Carmela's has "Coffee" in its name, this place is way more than a coffee shop. Yes, they have several variations of hot and iced coffee and a coffee shop vibe, but they also have a large selection of sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, avocado toasts, and more. My friend had a made-to-order omelet with several veggies and cheese. It was a good-sized portion and came with thick, airy "rustic" bread. She thoroughly enjoyed the entree along with an iced coffee. I was excited to see shakshuka on the menu as this delicious Middle Eastern meal of poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce is not readily found in this area. The feta cheese on top of the tomato sauce produced a nice flavor combo, but I was a little disappointed in the lack of spiciness and in the portion size, especially given the price of almost $15. The "rustic" bread was perfect for soaking up the tasty sauce. This location of Carmela's offers plenty of covered outdoor seating in a quiet space next to the restaurant. Just order at the counter, find a table, and within a few minutes, you order is delivered to you. Carmela Coffee Company offers a great atmosphere to enjoy breakfast, lunch or just some coffee. The lady behind the counter was exceptionally friendly and patient, even while juggling multiple requests--one customer asking for more cream, another for an extra cup, and yet another with a question. I was really excited to try this place after stopping in for coffee but not getting any food and I was left longing for more. First of all, the ordering is chaotic, the staff member who was taking the order would also just randomly leave the register to bring out food making it incredibly slow to put in your order. The pastry (banana bread) was incredibly dry. I did get the avocado toast (burrata and prosciutto) the toast itself was fluffy and cooked perfectly however the rest was lackluster and lacking any seasoning. I love this location of Carmela Coffee. It's so close to my home and consistently good. The employees are wonderful and always go the extra mile. Their lattes are always good and even without flavor you will like them. But they do have a bunch of flavors to choose from. Their avocado toast is amazing and my favorite is the the smoked salmon one. Their chocolate croissant is a must try as well- nicely warmed up and decadent. Overall a nice coffee shop to meet up with someone. Normally a lot of Starbucks and other coffee shops have very little space or seating but this location has ample seating both inside and out. This place was super cute! Had a really nice small coffee shop vibe! I ordered the breakfast avocado toast (avocado, poached egg, bacon and cheddar cheese) it was $14.90. My sister got the caprese avocado toast (avocado, mozzarella, grape tomatoes, basil oil and balsamic glaze) it was $13.90. We both ordered an ice coffee, I recommend the white chocolate syrup. This was my first time at the Delray location and it was fantastic. The service, the food and the atmosphere were unbelievable awesome. I loved the following: 1- the menu was available in print as well as on the display. If your vision is not great you can look at a menu in hand. 2- gender neutral bathrooms. 3- diverse menu with scrumptious food, that was delivered to my table, hot and freshly made. 4- I had a much better experience with this coffee house than I ever did at any Starbucks location. 5- free WiFi and plenty of outlets with space to spread out. Tables were large and plentiful. Not like Starbucks.... With there small, round and uncomfortable chairs. 6- the staff was phenomenal. They did not act as if I was a dollar sign (Starbucks) but instead acted as if I was a real person. I have now downloaded there app and will be going here instead of Starbucks. I would give 3 stars because the atmosphere is very welcoming for studying and I had a decent salad here, but the actual coffee we ordered was not very good. We ordered a regular latte and one specialty latte (can't remember the name but it had honey, coconut milk and cinnamon) and they both tasted very watery. There is a nice covered outdoor seating area but I can't even give Carmela credit because it belongs to the restaurant next door, Warren, who allows people to sit there until the restaurant opens at 5pm. I would probably give it another try because location is very convenient to Delray marketplace which doesn't have a coffee shop. Hopefully they get it right next time. read more

I went on a hunt for third wave coffee in the Delray Beach area. Although I didn't find any drip coffee in this area I did chance upon this very nice coffee shop a little away from the main thoroughfare. It's in a very cute and new shopping area with a modern/hipster vibe. There were a couple of offices in the area. It's also close to Club Pilates so if you want to get a workout in before having a coffee and light bfast I recommend this place. I chose not to get the coffee because I wasn't feeling that sleepy but they had a good selection including a cortado (espresso shot with milk) so for those who want something more than a regular cup of Joe. The salmon avocado toast was 14 with tax which was a mite on the pricey side but the portion size was decent for the price. It was not the most amazing avocado toast I've ever had but it was good and satisfied my hunger pangs. Seating was ample and the ambience was very nice. It would be great place to chill, study, and hang out for a good talk with a friend. Check this place out! It's worth the trip! read more

I was heading to Joseph's but I was starving, and going grocery shopping when I am hungry is not a good thing. Carmela is on the west side of the Joseph's entrance. I am having some health issues so I am not allowed to have caffeine or anything that is fried. I thought I would grab some avocado toast which would have made a great quick lunch. I changed my mind when I noticed the empanadas! They weren't fried so I was in luck! The baked beef empanada was good, not great, but good enough to order again. I loved the crispy crust but the meat was a bit sweet. Like I said, it was good, and for a quick lunch it was a good choice. I ordered a small decaf iced coffee with a caramel drizzle and a little whipped cream. The coffee was bitter and not very cold. I asked them for more ice and extra caramel. They were very nice and made me a fresh iced coffee. It was fine but next time I will get a bottle of water. The coffee shop is very cute! You place your order at the counter and when it's done they bring it to your table. I'm not sure why my empanada was ready before my iced coffee, but I waited a few minutes for my coffee to arrive. They have outside seating and I do want to mention the place is spotless. The kids working there are very nice which is always a breath of fresh air. The coffee wasn't that great but this is just my opinion. Most of the other reviews are good. My advice is try it for yourself because we all have different tastes. This place is located in a mid-size busy plaza on a very busy intersection, but you will always find parking somewhere. We found this place by chance just by driving by it: I love coffee, so one day we stopped there for breakfast. The place reminds me of Starbucks, but much better looking and upscale. I love its décor, has a great ambiance and the right atmosphere for remote workers. The espresso was ok (it was strong, but had a hint of acidity as well); the avocado toast with salmon and egg was good instead. The reason why I'm rating this place a 3, however, is because of the prices: $3.15 for an ok espresso and $15.50 for a good toast felt too much like an overcharge to me. Having gone to their location in Pompano Beach, we were looking forward to trying their new place here in Delray. It was a bit hard to find, as it's behind the Joseph's market. We drove around looking for it. Finally we called and asked. We'd driven past it as there no sign on street level or on the windows -- only high up on the side of the building that can't be seen at a driver's level. Anyhow, look for suite number 300, a shop away from the barbershop. It's on the west side. On entering, we saw it was fairly busy. You go to the back counter and order and pay. You get your coffee at the counter They bring you your food order to where you're sitting. We had to request a printed menu although you can also stand there (in a long line) trying to read the wall. Or better yet, go online before you get there. I ordered an iced decaf coffee which they did first as a regular hot coffee. They took it back and added ice. For lunch, I got their panini with bacon and brie. It also comes with caramelized onions that I had them leave off. The sandwich is served on a rustic bread that's quite earthy and good. My husband had a regular brewed (hot) black coffee and ordered their open faced prosciutto. It also had ricotta cheese and cherry tomatoes on it. The tomatoes kept rolling off! It was good, but would have been even better with some balsamic. They have inside and outside seating. There were some teens taking up a larger table on their computers. It made it a little difficult over a busy lunch hour for seating. Especially for trying to keep safe social distancing during Covid. I'm glad we went. Now we know. read more

We've enjoyed lunch and coffee at their other locations so we decided to try their recent new addition. We had to call for the suite number and juxtaposition because we did not see signage at store front level. After calling and locating, we did see their name about 30 feet above ground. A bright and lovely place inside we took just a moment to look over the menu and place our orders. I had the PROSCIUTTO OPEN FACE TOAST, rustic bread with ricotta, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes and chives. I also ordered a small coffee which I enjoyed. My Open Face Toast was good, next time I will ask if I can substitute sundried tomatoes for the cherry tomatoes that kept rolling off the toast each time I took a bite. SO excited this new location opened up today! They never cease to disappoint with the greatest coffee and the tastiest avocado toast out there. The staff and owner were so friendly! I can't get enough of the breakfast avocado toast! The poached egg with the bacon and the avocado just goes so well together. The toast is never soggy, and is always crispy. My boyfriend switched it up and got the salmon avocado toast this time, and he was so happy! He absolutely loved it. The coffee is always fresh and has a really good flavor.
