This was my 2nd time dining at Cafe Landwer and both times were great. The first time I was there I had the short ribs and my wife had the chicken schnitzel. Both were outstanding. Having a humus appy with hot, fresh pita is a must. Last night we took our younger son who had the mac/cheese. He is still very picky with respect to his food and he devoured the m/c. This time I had the schnitzel as did my wife. Outstanding! The wait staff is extremely attentive. Highly recommend. read more

4.5 Stars. I was driving by and decided to stop in to pick up something from the bakery, as the baked goods impressed me on my first visit. I was a bit surprised they don't offer much of a selection... I think there were only three items to choose from. In any case, the Pistachio Cube Croissant looked fantastic... and it was every bit as good as it looked. Since I got it to go, I was advised to heat it up... definitely the right move. Wonderfully flaky with dozens of crisp, buttery layers surrounded a generous filling of rich pistachio cream that was perfect... flavorful, authentic, and not overly sweet. The light pistachio glaze and crushed pistachios on top were the perfect finishing touch. Different... and absolutely delicious. I need to get back here now that the crush of "season" visitors has passed. I have a feeling it promises to be a much better experience than my last visit. read more

I stopped by here for lunch. They are new and have a couple chains around the states and Canada. The place looks really nice and reminds of diner vibes but a little more upscale. I ordered the lox and bagel sandwich which they had for lunch. I didn't really know it was a special but I found the lunch menu on another table. It was good filling. Bread was probably the best part of it. The service was really bad unfortunately. When I entered we got sat but the guy sitting us was just on his phone, like to his ear on his phone the whole time which is why I didn't get a lunch menu. We had to ask for waters and the drinks we ordered a coffee and a tea took about ten minutes to come out. It took about 15 mins for us to get our water when other people behind us were getting refills already. The place was not busy when we went. Because it was a Tuesday afternoon. Maybe growing pains of a new restaurant and staff, but not a good look overall. I would probably give this place another shot in the near future and update. read more

I really want to like this place, in fact I gave it 4 stars in my previous review. The food and coffee are very good. The atmosphere is great. But their customer service, and specifically the behavior of their staff at the reception area, absolutely sucks. I visited Cafe Landwer multiple times since my last review. Each time we waited at the entrance to be seated for over 10 minutes while the staff either ignored us or treated us like nuisances for wanting to be seated. And there were always multiple tables available! The guy that is usually working as the host was doing multiple jobs (running back to the kitchen, talking to the waiters, moving things around, etc.) and not paying attention to the line of customers waiting to be seated. Many times it's multiple parties waiting, crammed in the entrance area. My last visit in particular was infuriating, we were standing there with some older relatives, waiting to be seated for 15+ minutes and the restaurant was probably like 75% empty. So were looking at this absurd situation unfold yet again and we cant help but think; why are you making us stand there exactly? To annoy everyone? Or is it because you're disorganized and don't notice or care? When my wife asked what the delay was the host said "we're trying to figure it out." So we waited some more and then after a long while, we just gave up. When my wife told him we were leaving he said something along the lines of "hey don't blame me!" OK I will blame myself for the cardinal sin of trying to spend $200 at your restaurant. But that's finished, I promise. Anyway, 1 star from me purely for the intake policy which is completely unacceptable. read more

Second time trying Cafe Landwer and I've been let down twice. I really wanted to love the restaurant, so much so that on my first visit I didn't Yelp review it because I attributed the disappointing experience on the restaurant being new. This time I had it delivered (the restaurant is way out west) and the food was no better - in fact it was worse. The Hummus had a strangely thin texture that had no substance and was more condiment like than actual Hummus. We also had the Pasta with Pesto and Salmon and maybe ordering pasta here might not have been the best idea but it's been a fixture on their restaurant menus. The improperly cooked pasta was clumpy, the almost non-existent pesto was flavorless and it was one of the worst versions of this dish I've ever had. To compound the badness the added Salmon was so dried out it could not be eaten and this is something that should not have been served. Schnitzel which is a staple of the restaurant was no better than the pasta or salmon. The chicken was tough, chewy and like the salmon was dried out. It's too bad because the flavor from the batter was fine but after two bites I gave up trying to eat this and like the other items - it too was thrown out. We also ordered a large dessert platter of Rosalach which looks like Rugalech but has a softer exterior and this was okay and the only item we were able to eat. read more

It was very tender, came with a fresh, minced tomato salad, and served split, whole. Pita was good, hot, fresh, soft and fluffy inside with a light exterior crisp. Chicken schwarma dinner with rice is tender and flavorful. Short rib hummus was OK. The hummus is nice and velvety, but the short ribs could've used more seasoning and was dry and hard around the edges. The chicken made a better pairing. Service was slow and lacking. We were seated quickly, but it took a while for a waiter to come. After being seated just past 7pm, our appetizer arrived 20+ minutes after ordering, and entrees didn't come until 8pm. Nearby empty tables went unwiped for most of our stay, and it was off-putting to watch staff only partially clean them while handling the tops of salt and pepper shakers with unclean hands. I was not surprised to see health violations listed here afterwards. The experience worsened with dessert. Our Basque cheesecake came with a thick layer of chocolate instead of the berry coulis listed on the menu. When I mentioned the discrepancy so he could inform future guests, the waiter repeatedly suggested I speak to the manager, despite me saying it wasn't necessary. His tone wasn't kind, and it felt dismissive--especially since he had served the dish and could clearly see the difference. We will not be returning nor recommending. read more

A lovely brasserie style café at the end of an unassuming shopping plaza with indoor and outdoor seating. The portions are large and uniquely presented. Some of the dishes had nice components but just fell short on flavor. The breakfast sandwich is tasty, but can be a bit more elevated with a sauce (like an aioli) added. The chicken shakshuka stew was tasty and surprisingly not spicy (a plus for me), but the chicken itself was lacking in flavor and quality. A great value is Landwer's Famous Breakfast. It's a buffet on a plate. Enough to share. I did not taste the specialty croissant cubes, but they looked amazing. The butter croissants are flaky and delicious and baked on site. The café is said to be known for their coffee and my iced latte did not disappoint. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. read more

First time here and I'm so happy I went!! I've always wanted to try this restaurant and we finally did. We came here on a Sunday afternoon around 4 pm with no reservations and were seated immediately. I would recommend getting a reservation for peak hours. By the time we left the inside was filling up but there was still plenty of seating outside. The decor is very modern and cute loved the interior design. I started with the famous moroccan iced tea. It was sweet and refreshing with a spiced flavor. I really enjoyed it would definitely recommend. If you're hungry for hummus I suggest ordering the chicken shawarma hummus bowl and sharing it as an appetizer! We had plenty left over between two people. Supper tasty and flavorful. I ordered the chicken schnitzel challah sandwich with potatoes. The sandwich was incredible!!! Super thin and crispy chicken with delicious fresh challah bread. I loved the eggplant spread on top of it. As for the potatoes they weren't my favorite I would definitely order the French fries next time. The servers were all very nice and helpful but I felt that our food took a while compared to all the other tables around us. It was on the slower side so that's where I deducted a star. Great addition to the south Florida dining scene. This Mediterranean place ( I'd describe it as Israel food ) has the most house made delicious pita bread we have ever had . It's a chain with several locations throughout the US including another in Miami and one in LA and one in Vegas. Portions are enormous. Good place for a group . Tip- treat it as a family style restaurant and instead of everyone ordering an entree, order a bunch of things for the table and share everything . My teens loved it here. Food is very good. Stopped into Café Landwer for a breakfast. The food was very good. Their smashed potatoes were awesome! The real reason I'm writing this review though is because of Skye, the amazing waitress. She was very sweet and very on top of the game. I literally waited for nothing and every time she came to the table, she was always very sweet and smiling. She recommended I come back and try the Arayes. I will definitely be back for sure. It's so hard to find good help in places like restaurants nowadays. Bottom line: Food was generally good. The service is still a work in progress. We were pleased to see this new restaurant was busy on a Sunday night when we arrived for dinner. A good sign of things to come, we hoped! We were warmly greeted by the hostess and then by our server. Glasses of water promptly arrived while we perused the menu and asked several questions about entrees and ingredients. The staff was knowledgeable and likely often received such questions because our server, Ryan, and another more senior server (Cherie?) easily answered our questions and showed us pictures of some of the entrees. Surprisingly the water did not have any ice and was not very cold. We were provided with glasses of ice when we requested it. We were also given a pitcher of water (also sans ice) for the table when we asked for it. After careful consideration of the menu, we finally made our dinner selections. Our friends ordered a hummus appetizer with pita bread. It was a large portion of hummus, suitable for at least 4 people. The hummus was fresh-made and delicious, although the texture was a bit thin. It included several whole chickpeas, which was a nice feature. Landwer's house-made pita bread is amazing! Thick, steaming hot, and a little doughy. We ordered a second bread because it was so good. Unfortunately, some sort of snafu occurred with the hand-held ordering system and the server had to retake our order. No problem... we just kept feasting on the hummus and pita bread. One person in our group had the lamb and beef skewers, which were nicely seasoned and tasty. The grilled veggies listed on the menu included large pieces of red onions, which were also good. The huge portion of potato wedges were delicious. Too many to finish, but too good to leave behind so they went home in a doggy bag. Another person had the Jerusalem salad with a grilled chicken add-on. It included tomatoes, cucumbers, diced hard-boiled egg, and chickpeas. It was very good and a sizeable portion. My wife ordered the short rib hummus entree. It was accompanied by the aforementioned fabulous pita bread. The short rib was tender and flavorful, although it contained more fat than expected. When she placed the order, the server said they were out of short rib, so my wife changed the order to chicken shawarma hummus. She was pleasantly surprised when the short rib hummus dinner arrived. Oddly, when we were part way through eating, the chicken shawarma hummus also arrived. Oops! I had the Landwer's "famous" chicken schnitzel entree with french fries. I don't know if it should be described as "infamous" rather than famous, because it was disappointingly dry. The menu stated the chicken breast would be crispy fried, but I didn't expect it to be so dry and tough. The fries were also fairly bland and could have had more seasoning. The chicken schnitzel is also available as a sandwich, made with a homemade challah roll, and includes some veggies and a sauce. That may be the better way to enjoy the schnitzel. We heard the manager tell the server to give us a mezza platter to make up for the various service issues. Sadly, yet another service issue occurred and the mezza platter never arrived. When we mentioned this, the server took the extra pita bread off the bill. And she gave us 10% off the short rib hummus dinner as compensation for the service issue causing us to reorder our meals. We appreciated that they acknowledged some service breakdowns and tried to make up for them with reductions in our bill. Over time, hopefully the service mistakes will be minimized. I recently visited this restaurant after hearing rave reviews from friends about its exceptional food and inviting atmosphere, particularly the Shakshuka, which they claimed was reminiscent of authentic dishes from Israel. I arrived at the Boca location around 7 PM on March 31, filled with anticipation for the experience ahead. However, upon arrival, I was disappointed to find there was no one at the counter to greet me and show me to a table. After a few minutes, a staff member finally appeared and stated she would return shortly. I was taken aback when she walked away to converse with patrons at another table, leaving a growing line of customers waiting. After approximately five more minutes, she returned and connected us with a waiter, who promptly walked away and was subsequently unavailable to take our order. We approached another waitress and requested assistance in locating our waiter. She assured us she would take care of it. Unfortunately, it took 20 minutes before our original waiter returned, apologizing for the delay. Knowing what we wanted, we quickly placed our order for the Shakshuka. Regrettably, we then had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our meal to arrive. When the Shakshuka finally came to our table, I was disappointed to find that the eggs were hard-boiled and overcooked, and the dish was overwhelmed by a thick burnt tomato sauce. The challah was also dry. Furthermore, I experienced difficulty in obtaining napkins, as well as salt and pepper, which were not readily available on our table. As we prepared to leave, we again struggled to find our waiter for the check. It seems that when the owner or manager is not present, the quality of service diminishes significantly. I hope my experience was an isolated incident, as I truly wanted to enjoy the dining experience my friends had described. read more

I'd heard good things about Cafe Landwer in Boca, so I stopped by for dinner with a friend. We enjoyed our experience! Although the menu consists primarily of Mediterranean fare such as schawarma, kebob skewers, schnitzel and hummus, it also has an extensive line-up of interesting salads to which chicken or salmon can be added, and a variety of pastas. We selected the mezza (appetizer) platter to share. It included several dips such as labneh, hummus, baba ganoush, and tzatziki. They were all flavorful. The best part of the mezza platter was the frena pita bread. The 3 pieces were soft, warm and doughy. Delicious! I was pleased to see a shakshuka entree on the dinner menu as this is usually a breakfast or lunch item, consisting of poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce. For dinner, Landwer offers a shakshuka carne, made with short rib beef. The meat was good although it could have been a bit more tender. I would have also preferred a little spicier sauce. The entree also comes with kalamata olives and a sesame-encrusted avocado. The accompanying bread was supposed to be a frena pita according to the menu, but to our delight it was a fresh challah bread. Yum! The service was excellent. The server patiently answered our questions and even showed us pictures of the items we ordered to be sure we were getting what we expected. The server and the hostess frequently refilled our water glasses throughout our meal. The water pitcher didn't contain any ice, so the water was a bit too warm. We would have liked to try one (or more!) of Landwer's rosalach (Israeli rolled) cookies filled with Nutella, Oreos or some other decadent treat. Alas, we were satiated from our meal. Next time! Came to Cafe Landwer after seeing some Instagram videos. The inside is super nice and clean. All the staff were very attentive and welcoming. Your water is always filled, let's just say that! We ended up getting the spinach feta roll, the creamy mushroom pasta, the pizza pesto burrata and a side of fries and smashed potatoes. The spinach feta roll was fantastic. It's not just spinach and feta there, its filled with other flavors and spices that really make this dish shine. The smashed potatoes were honestly the highlight of the meal. I wanted to like the creamy mushroom pasta more than I did. The noodles were a little too chewy, almost felt like gummy bears. But the flavor and amount of mushrooms were fantastic. The pizza pesto burrata was the dish I was most excited for, and similar to the pasta, it tasted great, but missed the mark a bit. It was insanely wet, which made it pretty soggy. The flavors were on point, but it turned a bit into a one-note dish as there was not a lot of texture happening since it all was soggy from the burrata. Overall, I loved the ambiance and the flavors. I think the execution could use a little more work which is surprising considering how established this restaurant is. Overall, we paid a little over $80, and I cant say it was entirely worth it. However, maybe after a few months we will be back to see if they're able to improve a bit. read more

Drove 45 mins to come here after some very convincing tiktoks (lol) however I was a bit disappointed overall. I was very glad I made a reservation a few days in advance as the place was pretty packed when we arrived for Sunday brunch around 1pm. We shared a number of dishes. Drinks to start: I got a dirty chai latte. It was totally unsweetened, which I was ok with, but it didn't have much chai taste either. Hubby got the Landwer tea which is a blend of juices in tea. Nothing too special but ok. Short rib shakshuka: a filling platter with Israeli salad, a whole challah roll, and the dish itself with half an avocado, a decent portion of short rib, and two eggs. It has a sweet cinnamon blend of spices. This isn't my favorite seasoning (I prefer more savory), but some people like this style. Chicken schnitzel: nice and crunchy, decent portion. Swapped the fries for Israeli salad (she gave the option of a chopped salad as well.) It needed salt. Overall pretty bland but also ok. We ordered a side of pita and hummus. The hummus was very good but the pita was clearly defrosted - cold and a little wet on the bottom. I saw someone else with fresh bread and was told that's the frena bread which we ordered separately. This was very good - made in a special oven (fire roasted?) and piping hot and fresh. We did have to wait a bit to get it. For dessert we got the Nutella rosalach (like rugelach but...hot?). This was good but...I think everything with Nutella is pretty good. If it had some berries on it it would be even better. Slightly crispy edges and soft gooey inside. They were out of many of their pastries by this time or we would have tried some of the square, crispy looking croissants with various fillings. Probably can't justify the ride back here, though there is plentiful parking which is nice. Service was kind, though seems like it could use some training - several dishes "arrived" at various intervals that we didn't order and our real food took a bit to arrive, with some things missing. We had a very good lunch here food wise. Our first impression was a bit strange, however. You grab a menu and stand in line. You order and pay at the register including a tip -- and are given a number. You select a table and wait for your order to be delivered to you. The restaurant is in a very busy shopping center. It's one of the first places/stores as you enter. Look for the orange umbrella on the right side. Getting a parking spot was challenging. The menu had a lot of choices. They all seemed quite expensive. Once we saw the portion sizes -- most are huge and more than enough to share and experienced the quality of the ingredients, we felt that it was well worth the cost. They were quite busy when we went, but it didn't take that long for our food to arrive. Staff is available to provide silverware and water service. We had a fattoush salad. It was huge. In addition to crispy pita wedges with zaatar seasoning, there was crisp lettuce, bell peppers, two types of tomatoes, radishes, black olives, cucumbers, feta cheese, and red onions. A bit of sumac topped all. There was also a light lemony dressing. We had their hummus with chicken shawarma. Again, a very large portion. The hummus was quite creamy with some whole chicken peas in it, as well. It was topped with olive oil. There were caramelized onions, pieces of seasoned chicken, and paprika. On the side was a small cup of tehina. And a very large, soft and fluffy, piece of pita bread. My husband thought this was one of the best versions of hummus we'd ever had. We took more than half of this dish home. We look forward to returning to try more of their menu. read more

This is the second time I have been there. The food is actually good, but the service is beyond awful! Came I. To have breakfast with a few friends. There was one person sitting at a table, so it was not busy. First they sat us at a table, as soon as I sat down my pants were drenched. Someone obviously had spilled something. Sat us at another table and the bench was filled with some wet, sticky stuff. Moved us to another table which was fine. However, now there are 5 tables with customers and not one server had approached anyone to take an order, not even for coffee. Looked around and there was a dirty table in the back, that had 2 people cleaning it, but still no servers to anyone. I waited 5 minutes, no one in the restaurant had seen a server, and I left. Came here for dinner hoping it could go on my "go to" list but there are a few kinks that have to be ironed out before that happens. Let's start with the positive first. They were extremely welcoming and helpful, looking for feedback. They are only open since June 9 and even though they have a multitude of other restaurants here in USA and Tel Aviv, it's the new staff and location that always needs attention. They are in Open Table which makes it convenient to make a reservation. The on line menus do not show that they offer alcoholic beverages. I called them and they answered the phone. They offer alcohol on the dinner menu. The location is great in a lovely shopping center with parking and excellent zip code. The patrons are discerning. The venue is bright, enticing with interesting signage inside, a beautiful bar and most importantly- clean. Our waitress, Talia was sweet and prompt with greeting us at the table and took our drink orders. Our water glasses were filled but no ice. The water was warm. Paul ordered a margarita but it came in a small martini glass filled with ice for $14. - not good I had a refreshing mohito but I only had a couple of sips and gave the rest to him so he could have a drink. The menu offers various Mediterranean appetizers and Israeli entrees. I had asked Talia what some of the offerings were because I didn't understand the words but she couldn't tell us exactly what they were. Paul had beef & lamb kebab skewers* grilled tomato & onion, herb salad & tahini served with crushed potatoes. The herb salad had no flavor at all so at the end I packed that up and will doctor it up myself for another home meal. Otherwise the kabobs and potatoes were delicious. I had salmon* . skordilia, sautéed broccolini & almond gramolata. Talia did not know that skordilia was a dip which looked like and had the consistency of humus but it tasted different. I looked it up after it was served. The waiters should be more trained in the menu offerings. The appetizer we ordered were the feta and spinach rolls. They are meant to be shared because there were a lot on the plate. We took all but two home because they are filling and we wanted to have our meals. The food was brought out very quickly. No time to breathe. I would have spaced it more. I expressed my opinion about the Margarita drink and Talia spoke to the bartender. In the future it will be served in a larger glass. She agreed to take $5 off the check but she should have done that herself without me asking. I will continue to monitor the reviews before I return. read more

In 1919 on a picturesque street in the center of Berlin, Moshe Landwer opens a small and romantic coffee house, which quickly turned into one of the city's favorite hangout spots. In 1933 with the rise to power of the Nazi regime, Moshe Landwer along with his family, made aliya and settles in Tel Aviv. On Allenby Street, facing the sea, he opened the country's first coffee brewing house. In 1964, due to the rising demand for quality coffee, the Landwer factory moved to its permanent location in the industrial area of Holon. In 2004, the 3 founders of Café Landwer approached the Landwer coffee brand with an idea to revive the brand with rich heritage & legacy. In 2018, Co-Founder Nir Caspi decided to move to the United States with a mission to develop & expand the brand into a fast-casual dining experience, for people from different backgrounds and cultures to come together around food and shared experiences. I went here with a large group for a birthday. At first, they weren't going to give complimentary bread for the group but then they spoke to the manager and they did - with all kinds of dips (hummus, smoked eggplant and tahini tomato salsa, tzatziki, torshi and more)! WE ordered all kinds of dishes from the mediterranean fattoush- feta, sa'atar pita crunch, kalamata olives, onion, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber, radish lettuce, sumac and lemon mint dressing on the side.I liked it very much. Some people got beef and lamb kebab skewers (grilled tomato and onion, herb salad and tahini served with crushed potatoes, the landowner burger- homemade signature beef patty with harissa mayo, tomato, lettuce and onions; chicken shawarma hummus-spiced chicken chunks, cartelized onions, pickles, tahini and pita bread, falafel (chopped salad, hummus, tahini, pickles), schnitzel challah sandwich (crispy fried chicken breast, marbucha, tomato, tahini, fried eggplant and pickles on a homemade challah roll etc. All these dishes were very tasty and very large (I suggest splitting these dishes with someone else!). The pricing is a little bit on the higher end of things. It is in the shopping center with Publix (Clint Moore and 441). I like the vibe as you can come in here and just have a dessert or have a whole meal. We were able to do separate checks which was a blessing! Thank you to Jeffrey, our waiter for his patience. I gave it 4 stars because the silliness of not giving the bread in the beginning was small minded. Try it for breakfast; try it for lunch. Try it for dinner. The aesthetics are what drew me in initially, as i was looking for a brunch place to catch up with some friends in town. I love mediterranean food so im always biased, but i thought the mezzi platter was the star of the show, which is considered an appetizer. I was most happy with the pita they served, it was warm and tasted fresh. The challah had a hint of sweetness that reminded me why i can never give up carbs- but id say it was a bit dense. I was underwhelmed by the pancake, was super dense- not my fav but maybe someone else's! Staff was friendly and prompt but it was slow when we went and seemed like we might've not had the same experience if it were busier. prices are a little steep. I wasn't amazed but i'd come back to try again if i'm in the area! read more

This place is a hidden gem in southwest Delray Beach. With international flavors leaning towards Mediterranean. We ordered the Landwer breakfast and Farmers breakfast. You can see the chef in the back tossing the house made focaccia into the wood fire oven. Everything we had tasted clean and freshly made salad n house. Definitely recommend. read more

Horrible service. I guess they don't need the business. This is my 2nd bad experience and I'll never come back. Ordered 2 meals, only one came out. Ordered mimosa glass was filled 3/4. Tried getting servers attention to order a drink and she never came despite us waving to her on several occasions. She decided to pick up dirty plates from another table and never came to us. We waited a whole 20 minutes and asked the manager for the bill. Mine you she never came back to our table so that we could tell her we never got a meal! read more

First visit. Pleasant ambiance. Friendly helpful service. My wife and I each had a sandwich. I had the schnitzel challah sandwich. I enjoyed it but it was a bit confusing. It has so many ingredients that it is hard to focus on any one. The portion is huge. My wife and I could have shared it and been full. The smashed potatoes which come with it are mini baked potatoes and are fantastic. My wife ordered the chicken shawarma pita sandwich which had flavor we did not care for.
