It's a cute shop inside of a type of multi / co-op time building. The service was friendly, and the area is nice and clean. The ice cream itself was a bit pricey for what it was in my opinion, which is why I gave it a 3 star instead of a 4 star. read more

I've been a fan of Carmela since I lived a few blocks away from them in Altadena. I even had them bring their ice cream cart to my wedding 11 years ago! So I was thrilled when I was strolling around Palm Springs this past weekend and I saw that Carmela had a little shop there. I couldn't resist! Cute ice cream and gelato shoppe in the Flannery Exchange on Palm Canyon Drive. Limited flavors but interesting and unique. I sampled the Meyer lemon olive oil which was rich and unctuous with a slight lemon taste. I instead chose the salted caramel, which is of course s best seller, featuring homemade caramel with a touch of sea salt. It's little ice creamery in the trendy Uptown area of Palm Springs. Plenty of parking in back if you can't secure a spot on the street. Lots of areas to sit in or out of the sun and the ice cream is really tasty. Worth a visit. read more

Delicious! Came by for a late night craving. The shop is so cute and is a shared space with a cute coffee shop and clothing store. The service was friendly, and while some may say the portions are a little small- I think it was absolutely perfect. Definitely on the pricey side though- 6.95 for a single scoop in a cup. read more

Just picked up two pints. I tried the Strawberry Buttermilk and it had great strawberry flavor with a hint of tartness, nice and creamy. Can't wait to try the salted caramel. I was looking on yelp for a good ice cream place and I saw a review that said something along the lines of this place has the best ice cream. So I decided I would give it a shot I arrived and immediately thought that the list of flavors was a little on the fancy/expensive side like no plain vanilla or chocolate flavors. I ordered the salted caramel and the person serving the ice cream was nice and provided good service but the ice cream I'm not sure how but the flavor of it was best described as cardboard as well as being over 6 dollars for a scoop of ice cream so small I could have eaten it in one bite. The fact that I was able to sample all flavors was a good start but then I tried their Lavender Honey and Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean and those blew me away. They also make the cones in house fresh everyday. The staff warmly greeted me and was super friendly while being indecisive on what ice cream I wanted. The location is great right next to cafe La jefa and across the street from Trio. Inside the building is a nice modern pink ice cream shop which features gold and marble seating areas with swings and chairs in the front. Needed to get some ice cream on this 112 degree day. This place is really cool and placed inside a trendy flex space with other vendors. Had the vanilla, mint and chocolate. The vanilla was very good however it asking with my mint was a bit too icy, and not dense. The chocolate was very rich and not as icy. The best ice cream ever! I don't say that lightly. I've been to many ice cream places that are supposed to have wonderful ice cream or the "best ever." I often leave disappointed. Some friends brought over a few pints when we invited them to dinner. Now I'm hooked. It is the smoothest, creamiest, and richest ice cream I have ever experienced. Yes, it is quite a bit more than the a pint at the grocery store, but you are buying the highest quality, premium ice cream available. I don't even typically like chocolate ice cream even though I'm a chocoholic, but Carmela's is fantastic. The espresso is wonderful as is the salted caramel. This probably beats any bottle of wine you could bring a host as gift. read more

And, by chance, ran into one of the best ice cream experiences I've ever had at -- I was told -- the newly opened Carmela Ice Cream. I wish they had Carmela Ice Cream in New York, where I live. You must sample the Guinness (yes, seriously), you'd think you were in a Dublin pub. (OK, it's hotter outside.) My kids gave me tastes of their strawberry buttermilk and blackberry vanilla bean.
