It's all in the name. They make a great shake. The menu can feel a little overwhelming with how many options they have, but just go with your gut and you'll be happy. It's a perfect treat while walking around downtown Palm Springs, especially after a big meal when you want something indulgent. We've stopped by before and will definitely be back again.

Staff: The team here is nice. Quality/Quantity: This is by far our favorite place anywhere for milkshakes. The selection, the taste, and overall ambiance of the store is amazing. We opted for the Oreo cookie, brownie fudge, s'mores, and dole whip. All were very tasty. Value: Fair I'd say. 4 items and 3 old school candies were $48. Overall: This is our absolute must go to anytime we visit Palm Springs. Definitely recommend this spot.

Maybe I just needed to get a different flavor but the white chocolate lavender was not for me. It was creamy though. I'm from out of town but I'll be sure to be back to try other flavors.

When looking for places to eat in Palm Springs, I ran across this place and immediately put it on my list to visit, as who doesn't love a milk shake? They have a ton of flavors and if you're not wanting a shake, they have Dole Whip and floats as well! It was a challenge for me to pick which one I wanted, but I ended up with a chocolate peanut butter shake. You can choose different sizes but I got the 12oz because 9oz seemed too small and I didn't want to pig out! Smooth and creamy and I loved the peanut butter stripe! I definitely recommend visiting if you're in downtown Palm Springs!

Cool retro spot we heard had date shakes. If you're in Palm Springs this is a spot you CANNOT miss! This was probably the best shake/ice cream I've ever had, especially on such a hot day. The decor is super cute with 50's vibe, and there's soo many flavor options. A very insta worthy spot, and every shake comes with a mini donut! We got the Date Shake, Caramel Coffee Cream Shake, and the Cookie Dough Fudge Shake. The Date Shake was good, the Cookie Dough Fudge Shake was amazing, and the Caramel Coffee Cream Shake was out of this world, probably my favorite. The portion sizes are also really good, you can get a medium size for just a dollar more and it's huge! I will 100% be back without a doubt next time I'm back in Palm Springs! read more
we got the Cookie Dough Shake ($9.75) and the nutella banana shake ($9.75). definitely preferred the nutella banana shake as it was less sweet, but I liked the little dough chunks in the former. both were less sweet than other shakes in general, which was great. we got both of them in 12oz ($1 more, greater value than 9oz in my opinion!) and they each came with a mini warm doughnut. the line was long when we got there but it moved fast! This place will always be on my must visit list when coming to Palm Springs. Who doesn't love a good shake. We orders Oreo Cookie w/Caramel Swirl, Pistachio, and Strawberry. Everyone enjoyed each other the flavors and had absolutely zero complaints. Then they add a special touch by adding a mini donut in the straw. Everyone in the area loves this place and so does all the tourists. I'm already excited to go back and try another flavor. read more
We visited Great Shakes in downtown Palm Springs after hearing a lot of buzz. The drinks were fun and definitely Instagram-worthy--with decorative doughnuts on the straws, which the kids loved. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. We waited in line for over 20 minutes, only to find out at the front that they were only accepting cash. With a line that long, it would've been nice to know earlier. The shakes were good, but honestly, the kids thought they tasted like any other shake shop. Not bad, just not mind-blowing. I kept seeing a long line for this location so I googled why and everyone was raving that this was THE PLACE to get a date shake or any other shake. I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I stopped in for a visit on a random late afternoon. Usually there is a huge line at night but fortunately for me, I walked right in. The employee was super friendly and I told him it was my first time trying a shake so I asked him what he recommended. He said since it was my first time, I should go with a simple date shake. I heard they are super filling so I ordered the smallest size possible. For me, it was the perfect amount. The shake was ready super quick and I love how it came with a mini donut in the straw! The date on top was also super tasty. The donut was like a cake donut and I have to say, it was one of the best cake donuts I ever tried. It was super soft and sweet. Was the hype worth it? I think so! I get that people wait in line at night. It's nice to walk and enjoy the shake. If you come in the middle of a hot day, the shake melts too quickly. There were no open seats inside so I had to sit close to the store nextdoor and thankfully felt a wind from their AC. Otherwise I would have probably only been able to enjoy half the shake before the other half melted. All in all, if you are visiting, even if you are not a dessert person, I think you should try the date shake here. It was really good and very different from any other shakes I have had. Nice spot to grab a shake! This was my first time going but I would definitely go back. The staff were welcoming and gave suggestions on the top favorites. I ended up getting a cookies and cream for myself and a strawberry shake for my mom. To our suprise it came with a tiny little donut on it. Great Shakes is a shake shop that very clearly hearkens back to the 50's malt-shop while catering to a clientele with various dietary limitations. When you first enter Great Shakes you'll see plenty of 50's memorabilia and a huge chalkboard listing their shakes. Their menu is enormous, with 38 different shakes listed. Most or all of these shakes can be made for those who are lactose intolerant: definite win for those who can't handle milk sugar. In addition, they also offer floats with multiple sodas and some dairy-free options, including a Dole Whip. My partner ordered the chocolate fudge shake. The sides came drenched in fudge sauce which coated the chocolate ice-cream. While I only took a taste (and he devoured the rest) it was a delightful, indulgent treat. I appreciated that this sweet shop also offered a collection of retro and otherwise unusual candies, from Necco Wafers and Wax Candy Bottles to Violet flavored candy (yes, does indeed taste like perfume.) Great Shakes ALWAYS has a line out the door. The kids love this place for their ice cream and shakes with a cute little donut on their straw. Highly recommend this place to any one visiting Palm Springs. I like how they have chairs outside where we can relax and hang out while the kids finish their treats. Was in this area and I guess shakes are all the rage here, so gotta give it a try! The staff was very friendly, we had a large group and she was very patient with us. I also really appreciate them offering non-dairy option for those of us who can't have it! The store itself is small, but they do offer quite a few chairs so people can leisurely enjoy their shake without worrying about spilling it while walking around. I got the seasonal/limited edition peppermint fudge shake (non dairy), and it was very yummy! I like the flavor, you can definitely taste the peppermint in it. Some extra flakes on top adds to the textural difference and enjoyment as well. I don't really understand the donut on the straw, but I guess it's fine? Overall a nice treat, I would suggest to order the small one unless you have a serious sweet tooth. Recommend! read more
Came accross this place while walking in downtown Palm Springs. Cute little place with friendly service. The taste was quite okay to be honest. They can put more dates in the shake and reduce the ice cream. It tasted way too much vanilla. But I was glad they offer lactose free! so a plus for me. Pineapple Dole was delicious and Oreo was way too sweet, Its also a bit pricey for 8 oz $8.75. Its a maybe for me for future visti but I'm glad i tried it. read more

Love this place!! Can't leave Palm Springs without stopping here on the way out. Prices are steep but that's the desert.. shakes are worth it here. The little donut that comes on the straw looks better than it tastes but the shake itself is great. I always go for the banana caramel graham shake. Oreo shake is another hit in my family! read more
A nice treat in the desert heat. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Very easy to find and get to, on the main road in Palm Springs. You walk in and it is sensory overload. There are neon signs, paintings, pictures, news stories, menus, and things for sale all over the place. They have plenty of options, first off for the shake flavor choices, but if shakes are not your jam, they have other dessert options as well. Something for everyone. they also sell non food items, like little toys and souvenirs. Don't forget to use your Yelp check in offer, like I did. I guess it is a reason to go back. I tried the Peanut butter shake and it was pretty good. Great taste and I see why they have such rave reviews and awards. The ice cream is delicious and high quality. The little donuts attached to the straw is a fun little gimmick. The donut is ok, but not the reason to get the shake. The shake is expensive, but it is very good. read more

Very very very yummy!!! One of the best shakes I've had in a while. I tried the banana caramel graham shake. Super yummy banana, not too caramely and some graham pieces that gave it a good texture. Also I saw date shakes were a Palm Springs thing, but for some reason I thought that meant all the shakes were made of like date sweetener or something. Date shakes are literally date milkshakes HAHA. I'll try that next time read more

Yes almost certainly. Just need to choose a shake flavor that doesn't have gluten. You might want to check the ingredients of any syrups in your drink too. But I think you'll enjoy!
