I got Botox done and it was not effective. I was still able to frown. I went back for a second treatment and once again failed. I do believe the products that they use are using are ineffective to cut their cost. The problem is their objective is to make money and not client satisfaction. Edie the owner and her staff are wonderful at what they do. Very friendly, welcoming, dutiful & conscientious in their endeavors. Smiling faces everywhere, they aim to please & it's evident. The salon itself is very modern, spacious, inviting & lively. It also has a sort of polished/refined look, but as I said still modern in its decor. They offer a wide variety of services in addition to hair procedures; Brazilian Waxes, to leg & arm waxes, to eyebrow threading, just to name a few. I've been here several times for haircuts, hair coloring & ice even had my arm pits waxed. My next stop is semi-permanent lash extensions, Wooooo Hooooo!!!! I find the pricing to be a little more than the average, but it's not exorbitantly overpriced either, quite affordable even on a budget. Clean facility. They seem to have a room for every service being performed. This is great; makes it easier to carry out the service if all the tools are appropriately placed. I also like the closet/changing room with the smocks. This is great because services can be performed without fear of staining or ruining your clothing should some of the product get on them. I've been going to Carmen and Santos for years they were amazing. The past few experiences have been very disappointing. I refuse to go back. The last two times I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted and the results weren't even remotely similar... like not even 2 percent. The hair dressers were very dismissive the pst few times. Then, my child had dye applied. A picture was shown to the stylist the color wasn't even remotely similar to what was expected. The services were completed (incorrectly) , we paid and tipped. I can only review the tanning part of the salon but I do have a hair appt next week so to be continued... The tanning beds are never busy but they seems to only want to use two of the beds im thinking less to clean? and so the few people that do tan have to use overheated beds and I end up sweating more then necessary. The next time I walk in the stand up bed and before i even turn it on I'm sweating I'm walking out and telling them i want to switch rooms. First of all the salon is SO LOUD I can't Lay there in peace and quiet ..: the entire time I listen to the stylists talking hellaaaaaa loud extremely unprofessional. I been following the Lash girl that works there for a while now. Her lashes wouldn't last the full two weeks... tried to upcharge me for a full set or "extended fill" " even after a week because she refused to do a fill in if I had less than 50% .. mind you I have been a loyal client of hers for almost two years . She canceled on me literally a day before my appointment says "I gotta cancel You I'm going out of town" that's it !!!!!!!! and i was leaving for vacation so before I went on vacation .. since I had only ONE eye of lashes I had to rip the other eye out and now I have bald spots in my lashes . Why would I opt for a FREE BRAZILIAN, you might ask? Since moving back home, I have paid more than $70 for a Brazilian, only to have my lady bits butchered. If I could sample the service for free, why not? Anyways, we booked our appointment for 10 AM, which is when the salon opens. They were a bit late opening, so we could have booked for 10:30. We were greeted by Rachael, our wax technician, who informed us about sugar waxing, the procedure and care instructions. As this was a training session Christie, a more experienced technician, mentored. My experience went well. While it was evident that Rachael was training, her skill and application of technique were FAR BETTER than what I have experienced in New Orleans. The sugar wax was amazing! The procedure went by quickly and with minimal pain. Taking into consideration it's been months since I last waxed and had since resorted to a razor, that was spectacular. As I mentioned, my friend was skeptical. It was her first time. She also had a great experience. I look forward to returning to Carmen & Santos Salon and trying out more of the services they offer. The lady I had for my Brazilian wax appointment was really nice. She calmed me down a lot because it was my first one. She also asked how I heard about them. Plus the place is very nice and clean. I called maybe 10 minutes before and right when I walked in they helped me right when I got in. I was going to go somewhere else originally but I could not find the location so I went here. I waited for more than an hour to get a hair color consult. She never told any of those stylist that a customer is waiting. She asked me to sit on the bench and wait. This review is for the tanning booths at this salon. The tanning is just fine but the service sucks. They showed you where the spray bottle was to clean the machines and you do the rest. I went in for a bikini wax, and regret it the moment I took a shower. The experience wasn't bad, awkward but not bad. It seemed a little unprofessional to me, I wasn't really made comfortable. After the swelling went down and redness went away I began to notice hairs EVERYWHERE, I have 2 large patches of hair that were just left and she didn't even wax the inside either. She quickly motioned to be to basically drop my underwear and lay down on the table. There is no paper underwear offered,but I think it's because she's actually from brazil and she gets down to basics! She got EVERY hair! Don't go to this Salon!!!!!! They fried my hair and the I was in there for 5 hours, and I don't even have thick or long hair. My hair is right at the shoulder. They had 2 people working on my hair and they still didn't get it right. Tried to call to talk to owner and she talked to me and has to talk to girl that fried my hair first. The best part that the owner was there when this was going She told me, but she never come over to check on me even after I was there for 5 Hours. Still waiting on a call back from the owner Edie. I chose this salon for waxing after reading so many great reviews but I was disappointed with the service. Ana Maria did my Brazilian and eyebrows and did a pretty poor job on both. She was also not very friendly, she didn't even introduce herself to me or ask my name. I'm going to have to do some at-home waxing to touch up all the stray and broken hairs she left. I guess it was my mistake not requesting one of the estheticians with good reviews such as Gloria or Asma. Not only is the price for a Brazilian ($35) a steal, they also do sugaring, which is a wax made from sugar. It makes my skin so much softer than regular wax and I also think it hurts a little bit less. Sugaring also doesn't leave my sensitive skin irritated afterwards. I highly recommend Gloria for a wax!
