I brought my watch to get my battery replaced once a year at Carmen's but during COVID, I began taking it to a place in the mall. Well that did not go well. My watch hands would stop and start. So I took it back to Carmen. He had me leave it with him for a week and realized there was something wrong with it it that a watch specialist could better address. So he informed me that he sent it out. I appreciated his honesty and my watch works like new. I will only bring my watch to him from now on. If he can't service it properly he will find someone who will. read more

Carmen and his crew are wonderful. Had a mother's ring made which I love. I purchased one of the gems from his shop and he went to Boston to find a match for the other one. Carmen figured out what my style would be and he went to work from there! Got some rubies and diamonds pulled from old cuff links and now my daughter has diamond studs and a beautiful ring. Got some resizing done as well. Everyone is so personable and Katie and Carmen are true professionals. I highly recommend them and will return for all of my needs. Love them! read more

Cool shop but owner was berating someone who worked for him as soon as we came in. He was extremely rude and mocked the jewelry we wanted to trade in. Better choice is R&J Coins over in Salem. They were extremely friendly and treated us with respect. read more

My husband and I had Carmen and Katie custom make my wedding band, as my engagement ring was a purchase from Carmen by my mother in law years ago. They worked tirelessly to make the ring exactly what we wanted. We entrusted them with my mother's precious diamond as they changed the stone in the engagement ring. I can't imagine leaving it anywhere else. We also ordered my husband's wedding band from them, it is gorgeous and they gave us lots of options. Any future jewelry buying or fixing we do will be through Carmen as long as the little shop exists. They are thoughtful, personable, and very talented. Thanks a million! read more

I used Carmen's to get several pocket watches engraved for my wedding in July 2020. I started the process a little late, but Carmen was extremely helpful in making sure I had everything done on time. He offered a reasonable price, easy contactless pick-up/drop-off given my COVID-19 concerns, and everything came out better than I was hoping. I had a fantastic experience with Carmen's and will definitely go back for any future jewelry needs. read more

My fiancé gifted me a beautiful engagement ring and we wanted to make the wedding bands special by getting them customized. We've known Carmen for many years and shipped out my ring from California to Marblehead and put them in the best hands possible. Carmen reset my stone so that the custom band he created would fit perfectly with it. We showed him a picture of what we envisioned and he went above and beyond to create a beautiful memory for us. I cannot express how amazing Carmen has been throughout this process, communication was great and the quality of work was beyond amazing. When we received our rings they came packaged so beautifully in boxes with a blue ribbon for my fiancé's ring and a pink ribbon around mine. Little details like these really matter. If you're looking to create something special for a loved one, there's no better place to go. Carmen creates with such love and care! read more

We had a great experience with Carmens! We had an engagement ring from another jeweler who put an inferior sapphire into a beautiful white gold ring. Carmen helped us contact the distributor, get a credit from them, and replace the stone. The new ring is beautiful! My fiance and I couldn't be happier! Thank you Carmen and Katie!! read more

I cannot recommend Carmen and Katie highly enough. I worked with them over multiple months to get a perfect, one of a kind engagement and wedding ring set. As someone who favors unconventional jewelry, they were always patient and considerate, offering advice while also hearing what I wanted it. They truly took the time and care to make sure that I ended up with the end result that I had in my head, which is no easy feat as I am someone who has never worked to design any type of jewelry before and wasn't always the clearest in what I wanted. My wife absolutely loves the rings they created and I cannot thank them enough for their work. If you want something beautiful and unique and people who care about making sure you're happy at the end of the day please give them a visit! read more

Very disappointed in this jewelers. Brought a necklace to be fixed and was promised it would be done in two weeks. After three weeks went and picked it up. It was not fixed yet. Woman that I dealt with was rude and really didn't care that they promised me that it would be fixed in a certain time frame and they did not live up to promise. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

I went in not knowing what to do about a situation I was having with my wedding rings. Carmen was truly amazing. I went to sell some hold got through metal detecting in Marblehead and surrounding towns. When I walked in he was working with a customer which gave me time to look around at what he sells. He has beautiful hand crafted jewelry and Marblehead Logo watches. When he was done with the other costumer he took my gold as weighed it and performed acid tests. He told me he would call me when he was done stripping the jewels out of a couple rings because he doesn't buy jewels. I have been selling gold for many years and this was my first time going to Carmens. I wa expecting to hear from him the next day or so but, I went home and after about an hour or two I got a phone call that said my gold was worth $513 and he could pay me in cash. I will defiantly be going to Carmens to sell my gold and possibly buy myself one or two of his stunning watches. read more

Firstly - I apologize for the length but the whole story must be told.. I love this place.. In November 2014 I set out on a quest to buy an engagement ring - having 0 experience or third hand knowledge of where/how to get started. I found my answer quickly after going in to the shop - Carmen/Katherine. As I entered, I was immediately freaked out and nervous (normal right? ya.. this is a big thing..) It was my first experience creating a piece a jewelry from scratch. Not to mention that it would be the most important piece of jewelry I'd ever be a part of.. My mind racing I thought to myself as I crossed the street.. Would they turn me away because I was basically lost? Would they cast judgement on my thoughts and ideas? Would they pressure me in a particular direction, for their own benefit? Was I in over my head? No - I was right at home. None of these things happened, and not once did I feel as though they had their own interests in mind. Instead, I sat and spoke to them bouncing around ideas of what I wanted. I was listened to, and guided through the maze that is "engagement land". Katherine asked several questions about my now fiancé (she said yes BTW!) to help understand her lifestyle - to see whether my ideas for a ring were practical. Through this conversation my idea for the ring was enhanced so as to ensure it would withstand the test of time. Given my fiancé's lifestyle (super active and sometimes not the most graceful) we tweaked some key components (post size, band thickness etc.) so that the stones would remain in place and the band was strong enough to withstand some force. The first step was buying the diamond - after we were aligned on the end result/timeline. We looked at several diamonds, narrowing in on the one that would be our centerpiece or headstone as they called it. As I mentioned before, this was a zero pressure process. Every other week it seems they had a few more for me to look at. Each stone offered a different style/approach.. Some had ideal cuts, some had amazing clarity etc.. this helped me get a feel for what type of diamond I wanted. The right mix to the recipe so to speak. After several weeks (I'm picky), Katherine/Carmen found the one. It was in my price range and above the quality we thought we would find. They held it for me until I was ready to pay (keep in mind we got very close after several meetings). They were open to holding it for me for 30-days. Next step - build. Carmen and his network got started amidst the most severe snow storms we'd ever experienced. Remember the winter of 2015? Specifically, February? Brutal.. That was right in the middle of my timeline.. Regardless of the poor conditions, they stayed on track. They continued getting my feedback as they built the ring, from a photo, to a molding, to end product. Every step was executed perfectly. After all was said and done, the ring was delivered within my timeline, within my budget and more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Seriously. The ring is absolutely amazing. This place is amazing, each of them was hugely helpful to me during the process and my fiancé loves the ring. I recommend buying from Carmen's shop. Think you've got a good deal going elsewhere? You might, but i know the experience I got at Carmen's was truly perfect and I supported a local shop in the process - win/win. Hope this helps you frame your decision and best of luck on whatever it is you need! PS - I don't stand to benefit from this review in any way, aside from having the ring of my dreams on my soon to be wife's hand! Good luck. read more

I brought my broken engagement ring, and an old family ring to Carmen. I had an idea of what I wanted made, and they made the most beautiful custom platinum engagement ring using all of my stones. We were both a bit nervous about the process but Katie and Carmen were great. Katie helped us figure out what the options were and found us a beautiful stone at a good price. My mom passed 3 1/2 years ago and left me her diamond engagement ring and wedding band. Last month, I brought the rings into Carmen of Marblehead, and consulted with Kate and Carmen. They both understood that these diamonds are very special and sentimental, and I didn't want them to become unrecognzable in a new piece of jewelry. I decided on a ring, which Kate expertly designed with an antique feel. The ring is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and exceptional. I highly recommend Carmen of Marblehead for diamond design and your other jewelry desires!! Thanks Kate and Carmen. read more
