I brought my newly acquired used pocket watch which gave me trouble when setting the moon phase. He quoted me a very reasonable price and told me he would have it for me the next day. Sure enough, when I returned the next day, he had repaired it so I could adjust the moon phase. He had found that the stem was worn smooth, so he scored it so I could get it to catch when I turned the stem. Brilliant! I returned to buy a beautiful clock I had seen in his window. The older gentleman showed us Japanese collectible carvings that were over 100 years old and had amazing detail. Each line of the bottom of the sandals was hand carved into it. They let me in on a secret: they are opening a museum upstairs in a couple of months. Finally, a space opening up in Boston offering something we don't already have... a "money museum!" They severely damaged the exterior of the watch while attempting to remove the back cover to access the battery. There is absolutely no justification for the amount of damage that was done. If they were unable to remove the back cover, they should have notified us before forcing it open and causing significant damage to the gold. When we called to inform them of the damage, they did not apologize once or take any accountability. They simply said they would let their boss know and get back to us. UNACCEPTABLE.
