When I called on a Sunday, I was surprised that someone answered. The gal who answered was ready to send someone that afternoon, but I wasn't going to be home so next available was Monday 10-1. Someone will call from an 800# to confirm you are home (ok, don't miss their call). Well, Monday at 12:40 no one called to see if I was home, so I called. The gal (not entirely the best at customer service) said the technician was running late. Hmm, I said a call letting me know that would have been appreciated...since I HAVE BEEN WAITING. She offered a weak apology and said they can get me into the 2-5:30pm window. Or, Tuesday. WHAT? What happened to my 10-1 window. I had to insist I be next, was told they will call when on the way. I got a text and voicemail. The text gives you a bit to reply or they don't come. I called back and was told the guy will be here in 45mins. The technician gets 5 stars. He showed up close to 2pm, immidiately noticed the spring was broke, said it'll be $499 plus another part for $20. Yikes. Said he would be done in an hour. He was fast, polite and did a good job. The warranty is 30 days for labor/3 years for parts. Not sure if the price was fair or not, I just needed my door to work and now it does. read more

I had an urgent need for a garage door repair as a hinge busted and left part of the garage inoperable. Called the number on the sticker I placed there from the first time I needed something done. They answered right away, and set an appt for an hour from the call. Got a follow-up call and then the technician, Matias, nice gentleman quickly assessed the problem. We worked through all of the details and I requested a few more things than was needed due to the age of the door. He had all of the parts with him, handled everything within an hour and a half. I needed a new garage door opener. A colleague recommended Carmichael Garage Door with a warning that it's probably a tad higher in price. Thats alright - I'm all for supporting local businesses. My first appointment was scheduled for the afternoon between 2 and 6p. Around 5:30p I got a call that the tech wasn't going to make it. Fine...so I asked to be scheduled for the first appointment the following day. All I could be guaranteed was between 8a-10a. Again...fine... Tech arrived and was nice, but the first thing he recommended was replacing the springs. I had replaced them a year or two prior, so no thanks. Then he said the new garage door opener + installation would be $1,100 for the base option or $1,249 for the deluxe, but also offered $200 off. I know openers cost around $350-$500 from Lowe's, so that's ~$600-$700 of labor. I said no thanks, there's no way that is realistic. He offered to price match whatever other offer I get. I instead found a different company who installed a new opener for half of Carmichael Garage Door's quote and has worked perfectly for the past two months. I do not recommend. read more

One of the roller-springs broke on our garage door around 8am today. We called Carmichael Overhead Door and they said they would have someone over between 9 and noon. Around 11 or so, Ben showed up. He replaced took the springs off and showed us the shape the bar was in and recommended replacing it too. 20 minutes later, I heard the garage door going up and down again. Ben replaced the bar and springs and lubed up the brackets. It is super quiet. I'll give this company my business again. They sold me what I needed and nothing I didn't. My husband and I purchase a home that the previous owners had delayed work on the garage door. Went to open it and it wouldn't open. Luckily Carmichael Garage Door had worked on in the past and placed a sticker so I knew exactly who to call. I give them a call and they were onsite within 1 1/2 hours. Ben was absolutely fantastic! He knew exactly what to do to fix the issue. However since the previous owners had delayed on updating the garage motor and springs his fix worked but was struggling to open and close the door. Called them when our spring broke on our garage door, came out immediately, 15 mins early from their schedule time frame. Alex replaced the spring in 45 mins, charged me $700, gave me a receipt and left, didn't try to upsell me or tell me anything else is wrong. 5 days later my garage door isn't opening again, called them back out, Alex arrives again very irritated telling the adult present (not me) that he explained to me last week that our motor is too weak for our garage door (that they installed originally). I believe they may have installed the spring to intentionally cause strain on the motor in order to get us to replace that next.
