My puller arm came off the track, and technician Alex Serpico came out to service it. Of course he was able to reset it easily, and reset the motor because it was stopping coming up after about 2 feet. I started asking him about the cost of replacing the door, because it's really loud every time, like there's a lot of friction and it's working too hard. He told me an option was to just replace the rollers that moved in the track. The new rollers would be a softer nylon material, and it would also replace the ball bearings for smoother rolling. I went for it for $300, which included adjustment and minor realignment of the tracks, and lubrication of the joints. Let me tell you it's like I have a new garage door. Unbelievable what effect this had! I can barely hear the door going up and down now. And the reduced stress on the system should make my motor last longer. Anyway, Alex was so professional and up-front with everything, and he predicted it would take 45 minutes to an hour, which was accurate. Disappointed that I have to post negative review of Carmichael garage door. We have used the company multiple times over the last 30 years. We have since learned the company has been sold, and the new company hires out independent contractors. Thus, its a gamble if you get an honest repair person. Recently we had a technician over to do a maintenance which included dealing with a squealing sound. The technician was not transparent with us, he proceeded to replace all the wheels on the door and then charged us over $299 for parts, plus labor. A total bill of $428!!! A quick Google search show that the parts should've cost less than $100 and in retrospect, I doubt we even needed them. Of course we called the company . They admitted the technician had not been transparent but only reduced the bill by $40, stating he should have given us a senior discount!!! So another failure by the technician. We discussed that a Google search show that the parts cost much less than $350, but they refused to lower the bill. With further argument they agreed to send an invoice showing how much they paid for the parts. However they never provided it. That in itself is saying something. We are now having to dispute the bill through our credit card company. Stay away! Find a different company if you need a garage door repair or replacement. read more

Carmichael garage door originally made my custom door and installed a new motor three years ago. I had an issue with it yesterday, due to an error on my part. I called yesterday, Monday, at 3 PM, requesting for someone to come out. I was given an appointment the following day, Tuesday with a window of 11 and 3. At 10:30 Tuesday morning, I received a call from Ben, the owner telling me he was five minutes out. By 11, the door was repaired and serviced. Made an advance appointment for annual garage door service. Time frame was Monday between 1 and 5. They called us called after 1pm to say no appointment was happening and to reschedule for Tuesday between 2 and 5. Called them on Tuesday at 4 and they said maybe by 5. My garage door was old and did not have an electric opener - I had to manually open/close every time and it was a real pain. Alex from Carmichael garage door came out and took a look and recommended I get new rollers, springs, and an electric motor. I have a large support beam running across the middle of the ceiling of my garage, but Alex was able to shorten the rail and it fits like a glove! He was quick with his work and explained all of the systems to me when he was done. I received excellent customer service when after 3 months had passed from a service call for a broken spring, the garage door stopped working. I requested a different technician and their most senior tech showed up at our door within 1 hour. The needed fix was made as well as additional ones at NO CHARGE. That is unheard of these days. I was given a garage door inspection and a report that listed future recommendations to extend the working life of the 18-year-old door, along with current costs. We live in gold river, per regulations, all the doors in this development are way to heavy, all this for a certain "look". It seems like springs and motors don't hold up over the years. Personally, I wish they would change the doors to lighter ones but no luck with that. So, once again, the springs break. I accidentally backed into the garage door at 2:00 in the afternoon. I called at about 3:00 and they said a technician would be out between 4-6. Ben showed up early (after they gave me a head's up he was coming) at 3:45 and gave us a quick assessment of what he could do right then, or what would be a longer fix. He was able to get the door up and running within an hour. He was understanding and kind about my accidental error and gave us realistic options. The gentleman on the phone told me someone would be out between 10:00 and 1:00. Tyler came shortly after 10:00, explained the problem and what he would do to repair it. He also gave me a cost estimate. I don't think it took him an hour to install new pieces to resolve the issue. He opened and closed the garage door a few times to ensure it was operating properly.
