While taking pictures, I stumbled upon something I've been missing on trying which was their apple cider slushie running at $2 each, they are self serve. It was so good, you can't pass that or their fresh apple cider for a $1 a cup, also self serve. This establishment is most definitely a long time local hidden gem, a favorite for many! They have apple picking available, apples for sale inside, as well as pies, more donuts, & a plethora of other fall items to purchase. Some staff members do seem friendlier than others but I try my best to never judge as my experiences still have continuously gone well. Go show this establishment some love and support! I bet you've seen their products with the distinctive red, green and gold logo a zillion times. They sell over 4,000 products to retail stores and restaurants! That's just about everything and anything you'd need for cooking a nice Italian meal. Some of the products I saw on their website include sauces, meats, seafood, poultry, pastas, canned and jarred everything, cheeses, gelatos and sorbets, even storage trays and containers. We were in the Pajer Superette (one of our favorite Italian delis) in Agawam a few days ago, and bought a 16-ounce jar of Napoli sliced jalapenos for $2.89. I opened that jar tonight and tossed a few slices on both my salad and a pizza we made at home using a crust we also bought at Pajer. The jalapenos were good - crisp with plenty of zip. I'd bet the mortgage this wasn't the first Napoli product we ever bought. But it was the first time I decided to see if they were listed on Yelp. Yes, they were.

We found it right on the Village Green where the annual Apple Festival starts. Parking was a non-factor, there were spots all over the immediate area and we snagged a prime spot on the corner of Main and Center Streets. Today was the first day they were open for the season, and the market was full of vendors, and everything seemed to be running like a well-oiled machine. We arrived shortly after the 3:00 opening and everything was already fully stocked and set up. The market was perfectly sized. Not too small, not overpoweringly huge, just about perfect. A leisurely stroll through the booths and stands will take around 30-40 minutes, I loved how the booths were adequately spaced apart so there were no logjams or crowds. The only real crowd we encountered was at Wave Hill Breads with a ten-person deep line of drooling customers. We finished our visit with some Wave Hill purchases. Some of the main categories of vendors included fruits, vegetables, pastries, breads, sauces, salsas, jerkies, guacamole, pizzas for one, soaps, flowers, crafts, straw baskets, honeys and syrups. All of those were enjoyed among a backdrop of live music. We picked up a container of great guacamole from Pop's Famous Guacamole, a wonderful jar of salsa from Angela's Kitchen, two adorable "Eight Ball" squashes from one of the produce vendors, and a bag full of goodness from Wave Hill Breads. Our Wave Hill Haul included a delicious eight-inch cheese pizza, a hunk of Three Cheese Monkey bread, and a beautiful Vanilla Citrus Scone. The vendors were all super friendly and chatty, and the whole afternoon had a very nice community/neighbor-like vibe. We loved every aspect of our visit to the Southington Farmer's Market. PRO TIP The Farmer's Market is scheduled for Fridays from 3-6PM at the Southington Town Green, beginning on Friday, June 20th, and ending on September 26th.

But before leaving Union City Farm I had a bunch of questions for Patrick such as, "How do I cook these beautiful mushrooms?" Patrick was absolutely awesome and explained how to cook them. I then had questions about his mushroom farm. He walked through the process of growing his mushrooms from start to finish. I learned so much about mushrooms during my brief visit. It was awesome!
