After a long day at Disneyland my daughter and I wanted to sit down for dinner and relax. We had never been to Carnation Cafe so we decided to give it a try. It was the perfect end to our day. The place was comfortable and chill. We took our time. It actually took a long time. I think our servers were busy with large groups so everything about our service seemed to take forever but truly we didn't mind. Been wanting to try this place for years! We made a reservation for Saturday morning, but there were actually still a good amount of seat open. It's still a popular place, but I wouldn't say it's too hard to get reservations or seating. We ordered several mickey waffles, a breakfast skillet, and the chili cheese omelet. The menu was very sticky so it felt kinda gross to touch it lol. First impressions on breakfast, portions are very small. I mainly had the mickey waffle and that was very disappointing lol, I would say even below average than making a waffle at home. Sausages were also pretty whatever. I tried a bit of the skillet and that was also pretty standard. Didn't get to try the chili cheese omelet, but that one actually looked more worth it. Overall, I think people mainly come here for the cute mickey waffle picture, but you are not missing out on much for getting this. I wished they at least add some fruit to it bc it was bland af (even with syrup/butter). Would skip this place next time lol. It's a cute restaurant though. read more

Still a good option for reserved seated dining at Disneyland. With its location on Main Street, the outdoor seating is great. The food is solid and comfort American classics that will appeal to all. They also serve alcohol here which is one of the few restaurants in Disneyland that do - wine, beer, champagne, and cocktails ( an old fashioned and rum punch) but you can only drink it at the restaurant. Anyway, back to the food. The fried pickles looked really good but having already ate two regular pickles while walking around the park, I passed. However, I did see a lot of tables with them so seems like a good choice. Walt's Chili was hearty and pretty filling. The turkey bacon club was loaded with turkey and good bacon. Sandwich tasted fresh and I enjoyed both the avocado mayo and lemon aioli - great dipping sauces for those fries. The Parmesan toasted patty melt is also a solid pick. When planning my day at DLR, I only made sit-down dinner reservations as I usually grab something quick for breakfast when hitting the parks. However, this was my first time here so we made the impromptu decision to attempt a sit-down restaurant. Carnation Cafe was staring us in the face, and we were fortunate that the wait for a table was only about 10 minutes. That being said, we decided to grab breakfast here. CC has a long history at DL. The eatery is technically an opening-day business along with the park back in 1955. It started as an ice cream parlor, but over the years has evolved into the restaurant it is today. The location is prime - right on Main Street USA with a plethora of outdoor seating that is prime for parade viewing and people watching. The interior isn't as charming, but luckily we were seated in the former. The overall aesthetics match that of its surroundings, and each table is adorned with a red carnation which I thought was a nice touch. The menu contains mostly classic American dishes, with touches of Southwest influence. A lovely day, my first time in DL, on Main St USA - the setting was too perfect NOT to have a Mickey Waffle so I went with that. The waffle was good - it came with the standard butter and syrup, as well as my choice of protein side (I got bacon). My only issue was with the syrup - it had weird consistency, very stringy? I doubt it was real maple syrup, so that's likely the reason why it was off. Besides that, it was a delightful breakfast. Service was great - the Cast Members were friendly, and I appreciated them being able to squeeze us in. Overall, I had a good experience at Carnation Cafe; while food was good, I wouldn't say it's the primary reason to come here. It's easy to pick apart Dland food. Some is horrible and some good and some really pretty tasty. The carnation cafe can be hit or miss but today it was darn tasty. We had reservations and were sat outside in about five minutes. The menu is very limited but does offer just enough most people could find something they like. We both had the turkey club sandwich. They were tasty and all the parts of the sandwich were fresh and filled with flavor. The fries were good, too. We had the fried pickles to start and the we're also really good. I finally got the chance to have food here. Despite that it was a rainy day and we couldn't sit outside, we ate inside the section where they sell ice cream. We were seated and given menus but they have a select amount of dishes. I knew immediately that I wanted to try Walt's Chili. It was really good, with breadcrumbs on top, cheese, sour cream and chives. I got the toasted Parmesan patty melt, with beef patty, Monterrey jack cheese, grilled onions, house sauce on sourdough bread. It was by far the best patty melt I've ever had in my whole life. Every bite was incredible. It will be quite difficult to match that. The turkey club sandwich was my partner's choice with bacon, tomato, cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and lemon aioli on sourdough. She's not crazy about bacon but it was damn good to munch on. She enjoyed her sandwich and of course the fries were really really good. The service was great, they looked after us at any moment that we needed them. In your first visit to Disneyland I would highly recommend you make reservations to come here. read more

Carnation Cafe is always a go-to for us and has become a family tradition. I've been coming here since I was a baby, and now I get to bring my preteen, which makes it even more special. Her absolute "must-have" every visit is the fried chicken dish. The chicken is always perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes with gravy are amazing. The green beans are consistently good, and we always enjoy the side of breadsticks as well. This time we also tried the Oreo cake for dessert and it was delicious! Carnation Café at Disneyland had really good food. I ordered the salad with the green goddess dressing and the potato soup, and both were fresh and flavorful. The dressing especially stood out--it had that classic creamy herb flavor that worked perfectly with the salad. The only downside was the view from our table. We could clearly see staff cleaning equipment and supplies in plain sight, which felt a little un-Disney. One of the things Disneyland usually does so well is keeping the "behind the scenes" stuff hidden to preserve the magic. Ate here a few months ago. Made a reservation in advance for 4 people. It was super crowded inside checking in with the hostess and we were seated a little bit later than our reservation. Service was great otherwise. We were seated outside in their cramped outside area. The food was just okay. I did really like the Walt's chili with the nice touch of fried cornbread batter on top. My husband enjoyed his patty melt but said the seasoned fries were the best part of it. I ordered the beef stroganoff which they no longer have on their menu. Lunch at Carnation Cafe along Main Street in Disneyland came in clutch for us during our 2-day park hopper visit. The lady had the foresight to make reservations for a late lunch on our first day and it was much needed. We wanted & had to, by that early afternoon time, to sit for a while with all the walking we had done. We waited about 5 minutes before we were seated in the patio area. It was very busy at the cafe and of course on Main St, as people were also waiting for the parade to come by. It was perfect. We had a clear view of the parade which included marching bands from the Rose Bowl game participant schools as well as other schools performing during the Rose Parade itself. Seeing the Disney characters on the many themed floats dressed up for the holidays was memorable. We had a great vantage point. I went with the turkey club sandwich ($19) which came with turkey, applewood smoked bacon, LTO, monterey jack, avocado mayo and lemon aioli on toasted sourdough bread. I went with no cheese and chose seasoned fries over fresh fruit. This sandwich hit the spot in the middle of a 23k step day for us between parks. It was a hearty sandwich. Loved the bacon and the turkey along with the aioli and thick sourdough. Good stuff. The lady got chicken fried chicken ($22) which comes with herbed mash potatoes & gravy plus vegetables. She more than approved of her selection. Drinks ordered were an old fashioned ($20) and a coke ($5.25) Service was great. Danielle was our server and she checked in on us, amidst the chaos, often enough to let us know she was there for what we needed. We thank her. The first time I went to the Carnation Cafe, I did the virtual waitlist for dinner. I was a couple minutes late because of parade traffic but luckily, I still got a table. People that came after me were not so lucky. The second time I tried to go, the park was packed and there was no way of getting in, so I made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance. I was really excited because I always wanted a Mickey waffle. I went with my friend and she was surprised that the breakfast prices (for food and coffee) were reasonable. Been coming to Disney for 20 plus years. Look I get it it's a park restaurant and famous for its history but the food is horrible. It's bland, comes out so fast you don't get time to enjoy anything. The chili is decent, but you can make it at home. Servers are nice but rush you out. The coffee is watery and not hot. With a limited menu you'd expect much better. The food is always consistent and they have great soup and chili! The staff is always nice and the restaurant is always clean. The food was amazing and the prices were somewhat reasonable. As always, the baked potato soup and Walt's chili were both very good! The fried pickle spears are tart and always tasty. Another Disney dining experience in the books and I gotta say, Carnation Cafe was... just okay? I know this is probably blasphemy to some Disney lovers but I didn't get much whimsy here and the theming wasn't as much fun as some of the other dining spots. It's also pretty crammed in here. Idk, I just didn't get much of that Disney magic I'm looking for. Our main reason for stopping by on New Years Day was to get the holiday special platter before the holidays were officially over. We succeeded and this plate was rather tasty! This is why I offer four stars. While Disney has definitely upped their food game in recent years, it can be hard to say that some of these sit down dining experiences have culinary offerings that are truly worth the price. I think Carnation Cafe is pretty solid when it comes to that. The plate was around $30 if I recall but it came with a delicious cut of meat, cheesy mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dinner roll. We made breakfast reservations here and got seated a few minutes after we arrived. We were seated out on the patio and it was pretty busy. Our server came over and took our drink orders as we seat down and not too long after, he took our food orders. I ordered the breakfast skillet and it was $20. The skillet was not my favorite as it was nothing special. It had no flavor and was very bland. We looked for our server several times to ask for some hot sauce or condiments and he did not come around. Once we were done, he finally came over and brought us our bill. I wasn't a big fan of this place for breakfast as the selection was small and my skillet was bland. I'm hoping that the lunch and dinner menu are a lot better so I might be back to give that a try. We ordered fried pickles, loaded potato soup, chicken fried chicken, and patty melt sandwich. So, the fried pickles were really good, fresh and hot. Carnation Cafe is a Main Street classic. Do not fail to get the fried pickles. They come with ranch dressing and a remoulade-type sauce. This is the second time I've had them and they are surprisingly good. So was the patty melt on marbled bread that came with french fries. The indoor dining area does a pretty good job of fitting the turn-of-the-20th-century Main Street vibe. The outside dining area is also nice if it's not too hot. My niece got a salad, which she also liked. You can see the current menu offerings on the Disneyland website or app. Food quality at any of the table-service venues at Disneyland is generally very good. And you should reserve your table on the Disneyland app as soon as you know when you'll want to dine. Some reservations are more challenging to get than others, but you can usually get in here if you're willing to be flexible about the time. A special note: We were waited on by Danielle. Danielle has a blue name tag. If you didn't know, Disney cast members with blue name tags have received the Walt Disney Legacy Award. You can look that up, but it's given to a very few members of the cast, crew, and Imagineers who exemplify Disney values and know how to make magic. Location, location, location. You go to Carnation Cafe because of the Main Street location and the history. Although it wasn't a full restaurant until 1997, it was an opening day eatery in 1955 and that's cool. There is no doubt that sitting down to eat on Main Street in Disneyland and soaking in the Magic is special. I was fortunate to get a reservation for breakfast on my 50th birthday and thought it would be nice. Don't get me wrong it is nice- especially if you're a Disney fan. It's a great place to start your park day instead of the chaos of the rope drop race to your favorite rides. Unfortunately, the food is just average- at least for breakfast. My breakfast sandwich was fine and my wife hated her veggie skillet, however the eggs are powdered. Yes this saves time, but it also shows you that meals here are just premade constructions. I get it, there are thousands of people at the park and they want to cycle people through, but at around 70 bucks for 2 people including tip, a cooked to order egg would make a world of difference. However, I still enjoyed my time here and would suggest it if you really want a great Disneyland experience. The servers were wonderful and super nice. You do not feel rushed at all. I had a nice conversation with one of the servers about Berkeley since that's where it said he was from on his name tag. Also, get the Sweet Cream Cold Brew. It's 7 bucks, but on a hot morning it was perfect. Not too sweet as the name implies, the coffee flavor is still highlighted over the nice sweetness. We've always made sure to stop at Carnation Cafe for lunch every time we've been a Disneyland over the years. It's nice to be able to sit out and watch people go by while having a full service experience. I love the turn of the century decor with red and white stripes awnings. There is, of course, the outdoor seating area, but there is a dining room inside that also has turn of the century decor. The food here's pretty good. They've got a couple of salads, a really great parmesan grills Patty melts, and other seasonal favorites. This time I had the beef medallions with whipped potatoes and green beans. It was really, really good! Hope you have the chicken fried chicken which came with with potatoes and green beans. You said it was delicious, but both of us thought the portion size was pretty small. Sun had the patty melt with fries. The fries here are phenomenal! There the super crispy season 5. I think there's some kind of a batter that they dip them in but I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that they are so good. As with all other full service restaurants at disneyland, make a reservation. We came here with friends after a long day at Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Compared to other restaurants like Cathay Circle and the Blue Bayou, it is relatively affordable. After reading the menu, I was really excited to order the Beef Stroganoff on a chilly evening, only to find out it was sold out. Bummer! I settled for the cheeseburger, lettuce-wrapped (not pictured here). It was about as good as you would expect burgers to be at a theme park. And more than one person felt their patty cheese melt was not up to par. The chili and potato soup did received favorable reviews. What did stand out as a memorable experience was sitting outside under the lights and being able to exit the terrace right on to Main Street, when the snow and light show turned on. The mains are your typical burgers served in different ways, but if there is still portions available, definitely go for the beef stroganoff. A consistently great spot in Disneyland. This restaurant is a gem inside Disneyland and truly never disappoints. We stopped in for a much-needed break and were ready for a relaxing sit-down lunch. Everyone in our group was hungry and excited to dive into the menu. We ordered the club sandwich and the wedge salad. The sandwich was fresh and flavorful -- everything about it was spot on. But the real standout for me was the wedge salad. It came with a generous portion of delicious toppings, the blue cheese was perfectly balanced, and the bacon was nice and crispy. Every bite hit the mark. If you're looking for a solid dining option in the park, this place should definitely be on your list. Last week, my Disney buddy and I had lunch here. Surprisingly, it was both our first time eating at this restaurant. We decided to do a walk-in and we were told to do a reservation via the app. Estimated wait time was 55 mins but our actual wait was only 20 mins. Thank goodness we were able to wait inside as it was starting to warm up outside. All the workers did a superb job. One of the servers was so nice when she gave us our water refills as she refilled my friend's reusable bottle. That was a first! Then, one of our food runners was so sweet. We asked for a side of ranch. He asked how many and we said 2. He brought 3 because he wanted us to taste test the 2 kinds of ranch plus he brought them out in a shape of Mickey. The classic and nostalgic vibes are infectious. It helps for a memorable visit. We don't always get the best seat in the house, but fortunately we were sat at the outdoor gazebo table on one of our last trips. I always order 2 baskets of fried pickles with extra sauce to share with my family and friends. Albeit, I eat a full basket of 5 mouth watering pickles all by myself. (They are the main reason I make sure to have reservations set ahead of time.) I most always order the vegan burger with fries as my meal. Water with lemon to leave room for all the yummy food. The vegan burger has excellent flavor and a super soft bun; however, the veggie patty does fall apart easily. That doesn't stop me from eating it and enjoying it with the tasty fries. You can order with fruit instead, but I love potatoes. The hubby tries the different starters and dishes and feels indifferent about Disney food; however, makes up for it with yummy drinks. Wow! Come through Jose (our waiter)! This dining experience was great even on a hot day (85). Not going to lie my face melted a bit (pun intended) when the host grabbed the menus and started to walk us outside. I thought reservations meant inside. No, for my second time at this restaurant I'd be eating outside. The last time I ate here was with my grandpa who is no longer with us. The pros of eating on the patio are that the parade marches right past and there were ropes set up in front no one can stand or sit there blocking the view . I mean you do have to look past other patrons , but it's a pretty chill location. I saw all of the characters clearly from my table seat. Now the food. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with fruit on the side . The club came with an avocado sauce . I thought the avocado was light . The waiter brought me a little extra sauce .The sandwich was tasty. First time dining at Disneyland's Carnation Cafe and this was an excellent choice. We had a reservation for dinner that somehow we confused for a lunch reservation. The Hostess Alejandra worked some magic and managed to seat us for lunch. We ordered Beef Stroganoff ($26) and Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans ($22). The Beef Stroganoff was really really flavorful and had Pearl onions and mushrooms. I can only hope to make this dish half as good at home. The Chicken Fried Chicken was one smaller (but plenty) chicken breast with a nice cream gravy. The green beans were quite tasty too. If you want to grab some delicious bites at a restaurant in Disneyland, I would recommend Carnation Cafe! While some restaurants book out completely far in advance, this is one that is a bit easier to get into and will often times have last minute reservations available. Although they do take walk-up availability, I would always just suggest checking the Disneyland app in advance to book a time so you can guarantee a table at the time you're wanting. I will say that we were sat outside pretty far in the back and it seems that they only had maybe a small handful of servers working out there. This made service a bit slow, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't really an issue for us. As far as food goes, you can expect a more standard American menu and the prices are not as expensive for being one of their casual dining restaurants. As of a couple years ago, Carnation Cafe also joined the small number of Disneyland Park restaurants that offer alcoholic beverages, so that is an option to order as well if you plan to dine-in here. We enjoyed the following: Fried Pickles: I can't rave about these enough. I love a fried pickle and these were so crunchy and delicious. The breading on these was fried to perfection and the house sauce it came with was very flavorful and bright. Spicy Chicken Sandwich: (not pictured) At the time we visited here, they had a spicy chicken sandwich on the menu that my husband split and devoured before we could even get a picture. It came on a brioche bun with a spicy chile sauce and pepper jack cheese. Absolutely delicious. Spiked Pickle Lemonade: I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS DRINK ENOUGH. We always stop here at least once during our Disney trips. It's a good basic breakfast menu. The kid's Mickey waffles are cute. The restaurant is cute inside and their outside patio is covered and shaded. Service isn't the most attentive. We've had the omelette, overnight oats, ham steak and eggs, mickey waffles and fruit. read more

Had a reservation for 640pm and still waited 40 minutes to get seated. There needs to be a better process for this. I was hangry by the time we were seated but let me tell you that it was worth the wait. The fried pickles and baked potato soup was delicious and made me happy. Our waiter was also on point on checking on us so don't let the wait scare you away! read more

Great location for parades and Main Street entertainment. Unfortunately, while the location is amazing and staff were friendly, the food was disappointing. We stopped in on a Friday for lunch and ordered the Cobb salad and patty melt. The patty melt was ok, but was pretty greasy and bread was not really toasted. Fries tasted good. The Cobb salad was sad. Soggy and wilted lettuce with oversized chunks of cheese and ham, very little chicken. Bacon was very hard and difficult to eat, croutons were stale. Lots of food options in the park, for the price skip this place and eat elsewhere. read more

Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich on the brioche bun. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was thick. The silver dollar pancakes and waffles were unfortunately dry but the fruit was fresh. We asked for double portions of fruit but you have other side options to choose from.
