Place is nothing to look at but the tacos are quite good and affordable. I think better than Los Potales in my opinion.

It was our first time here, and I had the bacon cheeseburger and she had the Smashburger. If the burger I had isn't considered one of the best burgers in Wilmington, then there is something wrong with my taste buds! The bun wasn't a typical hamburger bun; it had a roasted buttery taste and glaze to it. And the patty was THICK and cooked to a perfect medium-well like I requested, and coated with melted cheese! The crispiness of the edge of the meat combined with the warm, smooth cheese, along with the red onions, bacon, and sauce made for an incredible tasting burger! Next time, I think I'll ask for just a tad bit more sauce, though. The seasoned fries were hot and excellent. I should also comment about the water we drank: it was poured into our glasses from an already chilled bottle, so no ice was needed! The establishment was clean and lit with natural lighting from the extensive windows that make up the entire front of the restaurant. Tony, our host and server, was extremely welcoming, friendly, and attentive. I asked him to let the kitchen staff know how much we loved our burgers, and he even boxed and bagged up our leftovers (I wanted to eat the entire burger then and there, but I would have stretched my belly way too much!). You have every reason to eat here, so go. Right. Now.

When we've come with friends or larger groups, the service has been much more mediocre. The first time we visited, one of the waitresses was surprisingly rude when I asked about vegetarian options. All she said was "salad," despite there being multiple salads (2 out of the 3) on the menu, including a Caesar with anchovy and a wedge salad with bacon. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and was much more helpful and respectful. I'm not sure why vegetarian requests are sometimes treated like an inconvenience or unusual concept. I'm married to a huge meat eater and enjoy going to places he likes, but I do wish vegetarian guests were met with a little more patience and understanding. Especially when I am the one paying the bill. The atmosphere is loud and busy, but they are generally accommodating. For larger parties, they require a credit card to hold the reservation and give a limited grace period, with a fee of around $15 per person for no-shows. I understand why restaurants have policies like this, but it felt a little unfair considering we still had to wait around 15-20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. If guests are expected to strictly follow time slots, I think the restaurant should also try to hold themselves to those same standards. It also took close to two hours for our food to come out, and we repeatedly had to ask for smaller things like water or hot sauce. I completely understand that larger parties can take longer, but we were a group of seven, which didn't seem unusually large. Overall, the food and atmosphere keep us coming back, but the consistency in service could definitely be improved.

Their main focus is on fresh halal meat and seafood and Middle Eastern products. Eventually the owner plans to start a bakery and dine-in restaurant. They just started having fresh produce today, including kale, cabbage, corn on the cob, squash, tomatoes, limes. Packaged pita bread, individually packaged halva sweets, and bulk nuts, green almonds, and Egyptian dukkah spice are available. Other products are a little bit of everything, including Latin foods, canned goods, kitchenware, syria soap, beans, rice (Egyptian, Basmati, etc), spices, dates, snacks, tea, turkish coffee. Some of the frozen/refrigerated foods include smoked herring, bacon, biscuits, falafel, grated soursop, melted chocolate, mac and cheese with langoustine, Norwegian salmon, sausages, calamari, gelato, Turkish bagels, gyro slices, samosas, kebab, chicken patties, Lahmajun bread, lavash, plain paratha, frozen veggies and herbs including Okra, molokhia herb, broad beans, baklava, kunefe, cheeses. Shelf products include Ghee ($8.99 for 14 oz), Tahini sesame paste ($5.99 for 16 oz or $8.99 for 32 oz or $21.99 for eight pounds), Egyptian rice, basmati rice, different flours like chickpea, almond, cassava, coconut, whole wheat, Jareesh (crushed wheat), cauliflower rice, small packaged noodles, lupini beans, jarred pacaya, vermicelli, basbousa boxed mix. There are a lot of different and interesting spices, such as Chinese pine nuts, dried limes, mahshi spice, lebanese spices (shawarma, kibby, sumac, kafta, ouzi), yemeni hot chili pepper, black roasted onions, yemen spice, Zaatar, as well as Karkaday Egyptian Hibiscus tea flowers. I tried this pastry made from Karen bakery in New Jersey, warmed up in the oven for about 15 minutes at 350°. It was plain, but very good-flaky and buttery. The bread would go perfect with tea for an afternoon snack or small breakfast meal. Also tried frozen falafel (Ziyad brand) and baked it, even though it called for deep frying (trying to be healthy you know). They were cute little circular shaped falafel, about 1.75 in diameter and about half an inch thick. Although I prefer a ball shaped size, it did have good flavor. If there's a product you're looking for and they don't have it, the owner is willing to see if he can get it for you. I look forward to coming back when the bakery and restaurant opens. Side note: ask permission if you want to take any pictures. The owner was not happy or friendly towards me taking close up pictures of his products while browsing the store, regardless of the reason. I didn't have the greatest shopping experience. So if you want to try to remember the name of the product, best to write it down on a notepad instead of taking a picture. But then again, he might not like that either.

The meat alone is reason enough to go: the cut, the cook, the flavor, absolute perfection. But what makes this place special is that it doesn't stop there. The Caesar salad is crisp and balanced and yes you can get with the anchovies or without, the burgers are rich and satisfying, the mac and cheese is pure comfort, and even the Brussels sprouts are standout. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And then... there's the steak flight. Oh my God, the steak flight. If you're on the fence, wondering if it might be too much just jump. It is too much. We split it between three people and still barely made a dent, but every bite was worth it. By the end, we were deep in a blissful, hazy food coma completely happy, completely satisfied, and already talking about coming back. Because that's the thing we always come back. And somehow, we're never disappointed. We find an excuse every chance we can to return. We've brought friends, planned "parties" to celebrate no particular occasion just to visit. Never once has anyone we've sent there been disappointed. Oh and the desserts!
