This is a traditional Mexican restaurant with a large menu. We went for a late lunch, and the lunch portions are quite generous. We enjoyed our meals, and I could tell they use the traditional Mexican cheeses and cream. The cheese enchiladas are quite rich! I couldn't quite finish them. I have ordered here regularly for years. I've always been so happy with our order. Tonight I am so bummed. I ordered two fajita quesadillas. I drove 15 miles because I always love the food... I get home I have two dry quesadillas with steak and cheese only and no sour cream, guacamole or anything else I usually get. I've eaten here about eight times now and I have to say it's good. The enchilada la crema made with their fajita chicken is bomb. And that goes to the main point that if you get their fajita chicken, it comes as a nicely grilled and sliced chicken breast. Good quality in my opinion and it's in their diced tomatoes, guac, cheese dip, etc... they seem to care. Plus the staff are very nice and respectful which is cool. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. Myself and 2 friends went to get lunch and decided to give La Costa a try. TERRIBLE MISTAKE. The chips were okay, the salsa was watered down and had no flavor. I ordered the pollo a la crema but I did not want any rice or beans. I just wanted the sauce over the chicken and onions. I got soup. The chicken was so over cooked it was like leather. The sauce was also watered down and bland. I couldn't eat it. One of my friends ordered the Lunch rancherra with shrimp and steak. The rancherra sauce looked like tomato juice out of a can. The steak was also like leather and had a rancid taste!! The refried beans had yellow cheddar cheese on it and looked awful. The rice was crunchy and overcooked. The only thing my friend could eat was some of the shrimp which was not great. You would think tacos would be something not hard to screw up but they did. My friend ordered two chicken tacos just chicken and cheese. The chicken was in another watered down red sauce and topped with melted cheddar cheese. She also could not finish her meal. Been going there for years, will never go again, far too many incidents of poor preparation and minimal portions. To-go order Saturday and sufficiently annoyed. 1/4 cup of rice, 1/4 cup of beans, that were watery mostly. You could pour the 1/4 cup of beans off the side. [have video]. Wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant with generous portions of very tasty food. Son got the ground beef enchiladas which he loved. We all enjoyed the refried beans and Mexican rice. I got the tostadas which were delicious. Hubby got a giant burrito which was enough for lunch the next day. Very clean, friendly staff, and excellent food, made for a great dining experience!! Okay I'll make this short and sweet ....the food is good we liked it ....the service very good.... atmosphere is cool ....location perfect for us. However, the margarita prices are lower than the place down the road but so is the alcohol content so if you're comparing Margaritas to Margaritas vs. K38, I would say it's a wash. You get what you pay for at each place. One thing about the beef and chicken fajitas the meat was prepared in a way that I've never seen before I'm not used to it and I really didn't care for it too much. I've had better fajitas and just about everywhere I've been.. however I will say that the pork selection that another party at our table had and let us all taste it ....was some of the best I've ever had anywhere everybody else was satisfied with their food. read more

This is my first time visiting this restaurant and I hadn't had a chance to read any reviews, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was a pleasant surprise. It is locate in a strip mall, so there is nothing to special about the outside, but the inside has above atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The salsa and chips were good. The salsa was a little on the mild side for my taste, but had a nice flavor. The chips were great, very crisp with no oily residue. I ordered their Seafood Molcajete which is a medley of shrimp, scallops and fish make up this delicious stew. Sauteed in a mild spicy sauce with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. Topped with Monterey Jack cheese and garnished with Pico de gallo. It also came with Mexican rice, refried beans and warm corn tortillas. It was delicious and very filling. The next time we are in Wilmington, we will surely eat here. read more

Quueeeessssoooooo I love their queso. The shrimp fajitas are fresh and awesome. Guacamole is decent, love the pico. Not big on the burritos but the enchiladas are killer. I get the quesadilla with mushrooms and spinach. The ingredients are fresh, not canned/frozen, and the cheese is plentiful but not overwhelming. I walked in expecting a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant but instead was surprised to find a place with great service, great food, and great Queso; the trifecta of perfection for Mexican restaurants. I ordered the Fajitas Burrito with shrimp. Again, my stereotype of a Fajitas Burrito was shattered when they delivered the mammoth of a Fajita. I immediately regretted eating that piece of cheese cake before dinner. It measured 12 inches long by 5 inches wide. For $13.50, it was definitely worth the money. If you want to come here, I have one warning. You better come after a long fast and expect to break your diet. Seriously, this is a lot of food. read more

Our waiter was terribly negligent when it came to the safety of our 2 year old daughter. If the food hadn't been fairly good and cheap, they'd be getting a 1 star. I really want to stress that we're not uptight parents.And I know things happen and if you're not used to kids, sometimes you just don't think. But that said, I feel our waiter was just exceptionally dense. First questionable decision, he placed an incredibly hot plate in front of my two year old. Yes, it was her plate of food, but if he needed a pot holder to carry it, does placing it where a toddler that could grab it or brush up against it seem like a reasonable thing to do? I quickly grabbed it away from her and in the process burned my fingers. Not just "Ouch that is hot!" -- my hand has a blister two days later. Second questionable decision, because my daughters food was moved closer to me, he placed my SIZZLING fajitas in a smoking cast iron skillet in front of her, rather than let us situate our plates. What the heck is that?! At least the skillet had potholder on the handle. I was honestly shocked. Third, he passed her old tiny, wrapped piece of candy -- like hardtack but very chewy . I don't know what the name of it is, but I typically see them given away at Italian places. Of course I had to take that off of her, as it would have been way too difficult for her to actually try to eat. Obviously, this caused her to scream and be upset. This was midway though our meal. Needless to say, we got up and left so those our us weren't completely miserable listening to her disappointed cry. The food you ask, this is Yelp after all. It was fine. Nothing was terrible, nothing was amazing. 4 of us at for 45 dollars -- so it was pretty inexpensive. Would not go again. We tried this place when the restaurant next to it had a 45 minute wait and we had kids that wouldn't survive that long without acting out. Overall the food was just okay. It seemed like it was maybe all prepped in advance and reheated, or just skimping in ingredient quality. I can't really put my finger on it but of the four of us, no one said they would consider going back. I wasn't bad, like it was done incorrectly, it was more of a situation where if everyone's different dish is equally edible but not good, you have a representative showing of what the kitchen can do. Just moved back to the area. Recommended this place bag on previous experience 10+ years ago. The food cane out very quickly and the portions are large. The steak in my California burrito was marinated in TERIYAKI. Teriyaki absolutely disqualifies a Mexican food classification. It also missed the California burrito mark by having green peppers and NOT having either French fries or potatoes in the burrito. The service was ridiculous as we sat for 10 minutes after getting drinks without the waiter taking our dover order but still checking 5 times on the table beside us as they ate. Went for dinner and got a chicken quesadilla. My friend got the arroz con pollo. To me, most chicken quesadillas taste the same across the board at Mexican restaurants. I didn't realize how much I appreciated that fact until eating at la Costa. The entire dish was cold when it arrived, the chicken was bland, and the refried beans had a sour taste. I tried to eat just chips and salsa because the salsa was good, but I definitely left hungry and shocked that this place had such good reviews. The ACP that my friend had was a small portion compared to most Mexican restaurants and the sauce was too spicy to enjoy. Ive been going to this place for many years, 25+ and always loved it. Tonight however, just changed mind. I ordered a to go order and got all the way home and they forgot my soup. I called and said it was missing and they put me on hold for 10 mins, As I drove back up there and they never picked the phone back up. When I got there 4 servers were just standing or sitting around. I picked up the soup, got all the way back home again and when I poured it out. It was only the broth. No chicken,Tortillas, avocados, OR cheese, NADA! I called back again and they sounded confused.
