    Pollo a la crema "soup"

DO NOT EAT HERE. Myself and 2 friends went to get lunch and decided to give La Costa a try. TERRIBLE MISTAKE. The chips were okay, the salsa was watered down and had no flavor. I ordered the pollo a la crema but I did not want any rice or beans. I just wanted the sauce over the chicken and onions. I got soup. The chicken was so over cooked it was like leather. The sauce was also watered down and bland. I couldn't eat it. One of my friends ordered the Lunch rancherra with shrimp and steak. The rancherra sauce looked like tomato juice out of a can. The steak was also like leather and had a rancid taste!! The refried beans had yellow cheddar cheese on it and looked awful. The rice was crunchy and overcooked. The only thing my friend could eat was some of the shrimp which was not great. You would think tacos would be something not hard to screw up but they did. My friend ordered two chicken tacos just chicken and cheese. The chicken was in another watered down red sauce and topped with melted cheddar cheese. She also could not finish her meal. The fact that they serve this to people is crazy. I will never go again. Extremely disappointed. It gets one star because yelp makes me.

Okay I'll make this short and sweet ....the food is good we liked it ....the service very good.... atmosphere is cool ....location perfect for us. However, the margarita prices are lower than the place down the road but so is the alcohol content so if you're comparing Margaritas to Margaritas vs. K38, I would say it's a wash. You get what you pay for at each place. One thing about the beef and chicken fajitas the meat was prepared in a way that I've never seen before I'm not used to it and I really didn't care for it too much. I've had better fajitas and just about everywhere I've been.. however I will say that the pork selection that another party at our table had and let us all taste it ....was some of the best I've ever had anywhere everybody else was satisfied with their food.

Very good authentic Mexican food. The horchata was also pretty good. Would recommend.

Not sure how this place even has 3.5 stars. There is no flavor to their food!!! Is not the "Mexican cuisine" you're hoping for!

Less expensive than K38 and better portions. Never been disappointed by the fajitas or the tacos. The Chipotle beef is really good too.

** I would like to note ahead of time I have been going to pho cafe for YEARS and have raved about…read moreit to all my friends and family. It's been my #1 pho spot in all of wilmington- so I am GREATLY disappointed and feel robbed** I called ahead to place an order for beef pho ( which they prep batches 8 hours ahead of time, AKA premade, not yes distributed) and bánh mì. After giving payment over the phone I realized I needed to call back to request no cilantro (or basil) due to concern for the nationwide outbreak of Cyclospora (if you haven't heard of this, please look it up and be cautious/ aware). This is a parasite linked to cilantro, basil, and bagged salads causing severe illness such as diarrhea and vomiting across the nation, starting on May 1st, 2026. So I called the restaurant back to request the accommodation, they proceeded to tell me that they "do not do accommodations or alterations". I explained to them that if they could not accommodate me, I would like a refund for my order because I no longer want the food due to not wanting to risk it (this food was going to be dropped off to my pregnant sister, moreso reason to not want to risk it!!). They responded and said they neither cannot accommodate a refund or my SIMPLE ask to remove cilantro and basil. I told them I would reach out to my bank if they cannot proceed with proper customer service and they basically hung up on me. I walked into the establishment and told them in person why I wanted the refund and informed them of the nationwide outbreak.. the woman (owner) told me that their distributor (Sysco) would give them a heads up if their cilantro was contaminated. I looked it up, and CDC has not yet been able to identify specific suppliers YET (so obviously Sysco is still a POSSIBILITY, again, that I don't want to risk). I informed the owner of my research findings and she proceeded to refuse a refund, stating "making accommodations is inconvenient and we would lose profit if we were to refund you" , even though I did not take food home with me because I no longer wanted it. Owners argued the food was already made, which I argued back that the broth is prepped HOURS ahead of time and their veggies are pre bagged, so nothing was cooked on the spot for me that wasn't already prepped. I told them being denied my refund is basically stealing my money since I am not taking food home and I continued to press for a refund. They told me they were going to call the police and asked me to leave. I got in my car and waited and called the non emergency police department to get advice on the situation. The police department told me to contact 'The Better Business Bureau East Coast ' as it was not a lawful situation. I re-entered the establishment and told them I'd be doing so as well as leaving a Facebook review. At the end of the day, I will be contacting my bank for a refund due to being DENIED one by the business. However, I do want to put it out there that Pho Cafe has HORRIBLE customer service, I am absolutely appalled. Yes, I agreed to payment, but once found out accomations could not be made, I requested a refund almost within two minutes of my order. I am human, I sometimes think to ask for accommodations after the fact. However, that does not give right for an establishment to refuse proper customer service and any flexibility to refund or even give a credit for once the outbreak is cleared if they CHOOSE to only serve their meals with cilantro and basil and CHOOSE not to accommodate other preferences. Have a nice day everyone, Pho Cafe lost AT LEAST ONE customer today. What a shame.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

You can customize the orders easily and add extra protein to the mac & cheese. At the restaurant, there are two separate door entrances (close to each other), one for ordering and the other one for pickup. It was nice they had a pick up station with my food, packed in a brown bag, ready to go. (I was about six minutes late for my pick up time). The food was steaming hot in the to-go containers. The macaroni and cheese was very good, cheesy, addicting. It's worth it to get a regular size. The Japanese noodles were okay. The steak was tender, udon noodles were chewy and not overcooked, and broccoli was al dente. They have their own spicy seasoning made with Cayenne pepper bottled in a plastic container. Didn't see any to go containers to put that in, but they do have to go Sriracha packets as well as soy sauce.
