Very impressed with these guys. Originally came in for Yandys and decided to pop over here. I got a steak and Lengua taco. Very delicious and the staff was very nice and accommodating! Even you first walk in and see the check out lines it looks like another mercado. turn to the right and walk past the paraderia counter and you'll find a small seating area and a counter with a rather simple menu. in my book a taqueria is judged by the quality of their al pastor and the barbacoa. it's safe to try both here, you won't be disappointed. For a slight sugar rush the aguas frescas, especially the horchata, make a phenomenal addition to your meal. if you don't want tacos the platillos are also delicioso and most seem to come with arroz y frijoles. my friend tried the Mixtas - a fajita combination that looked and smelled wonderful. This is for the taqueria that is on one side of the supermarket: We came here 10 weeks ago for lunch after doing a Yelp search for tacos and finding Carniceria Los Pinos on the list of results. Parking can be challenging, but I got a space right in front of the store, and parking is free. We walked in, right into the supermarket area. The taqueria part is on the right side as customers enter, and it's easy to see all the tables in the dining area and the order window. We got into a line with four guys ahead of us. The employee behind the order counter was quick and efficient. The menu is rather simple, with tacos, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, sopes, fajitas, caldos (soups), and Platillo Especial ( Special Plates). I ordered 3 pastor tacos, R ordered 3 carne asada tacos, and we each ordered Jarritos bottle sodas. We sat down at a table that was one of the farthest away from the order counter, and our number was called within 10 minutes to pick up our food at the counter. The tacos looked good, with the meat, chopped onions and cilantro in them, and each taco had two corn tortillas. Wedges of lime and a small cup of spicy green sauce were included with the three tacos on a styrofoam tray. After taking our first bites of the tacos, R and I both agreed that these tacos didn't taste good and lacked flavor. Our tacos ended up tasting more like lime and green sauce tacos. There are so many good to great restaurants within a 2 mile radius from here that have much better tasting meats in their tacos that we won't be coming back to this place. read more

This small Mexican restaurant operating inside of this Mexican grocery store is a delightful, little hidden gem in Sandy Springs. The best and most original street tacos in Sandy Springs. The also have burritos, tortas and quesadillas and a variety of Mexican soft drinks. The small cafe is clean and comfortable and the service is friendly and efficient. Came here on 12/2/20 Wednesday 3:12pm and was the only customer here and ordered 2 carne asada tacos. I sat waiting for 10minutes and asked what is taking so long and they forgot my order. I'd understand if there was a line or alot of customers that it could happen, but how does this happen when I am the only one here. What's worse is I hear the cook laughing in the back because he forgot to make my order. Pretty much a typical carne asade where they double layer the tortilla and add your choice of meat. Best authentic tacos in at least metro Atlanta. I've been to several from Kennesaw, Johns Creek, Buford Highway, downtown Atlanta and these are definitively better. Very unassuming place (hole in the wall) but don't let that scare you away from the reward within. Barbacoa and asada are the go to. Let me start by saying I really want to give this place 5 stars. The food is easily 5 stars, but my only drawback is how dirty it is to eat in. The tables arent cleaned often and the floor looks like it hasnt been mopped in ages. Usually aesthetics do not bother me but because I wanted to eat in and try all the accoutrement that are at the bar I pushed through it. I ordered the chorizo taco and the cubana torta. The chorizo was seasoned great. A tad on the salty side but once you put lime juice and salsa on it it cuts the saltiness to a perfect level. I've never had a torta despite eating mexican food numerous times. I stopped at Tortas Locas and found out they were put of Tortas ingredients( this is like popeyes running out of chicken, which happens but still...) The menu here doesnt tell you what comes on each torta so you have to ask. I asked after the fact so as not to hold up the line. It had mayo, tomatoes lettuce, ham, hot dog?, and a scrambled egg mixture. It sandwichy on the inside with a crunchy outside of the bread. The flavors melded well together. I regretted not getting a chorizo torta because I feel like that meat would have gone excellently on the sandwich. All in all 5 stars for food, but cleanliness could use a bump. read more

There are a lot of protein option like pork, shrimp, etc. Verde enchilada with carne asada MASSIVE portion. Good for 2 meals. Verde sauce is spicy! Be careful if you're not used to "Mexican spicy". Enchilada is just drenched in sauce, cheese, and gooey goodness. Shrimp quesadilla Smells good but fell short. The tortilla was way to thick for my liking. Shrimp was succulent though. Seriously the best Mexican food I've ever had in Atlanta. The tacos are are 1.99 and come with a ton of meat. Don't forget to get the green sauce, but try a little before you pour it over the tacos. It has a kick to it. Loved the cheese they use for the quesadilla. For $15 we got 2 drinks, 1 cheese quesadilla, and 4 tacos which was a perfect weekend lunch. Disappointing for what I thought would be great food, bring it looks likes a mom and pop store. We got the shrimp diablo and it started out tasting good and spicy but the afterwards it was just burning hot; and we eat spicy. I got 2 tacos, chicken and steak. Steak meat was not tender and juicy, rather undercooked and dry. Chicken was seasoned good, but dry. Had to use lots of hot sauce to make it taste right. Biggest disappointment were the beans. My daughter loves Mexican rice and beans and when we got our food, the beans had chunks of meat and went to confirm, it was pork. Lot of people, like us, don't eat pork, so I wish a staple like beans didn't have it in there. I love this grocery store and the people. I found so many great buys and products/food in stock early on in the pandemic when everyone else was low in stock or had no stock. I'll be honest. I debated writing this review. I knew if I wrote it, people would read it. If people read it, they'd want to go here. Then this wouldn't be my new secret taco spot. But a week later, I am still thinking about that barbacoa taco, and I think that calls for a review to share how awesome this little taquería is. We have passed this little meat shop on Roswell Road many, many times. It was only through co-workers of my husband did we find out that there is an amazing taquería located in this shop. We decided to stop there on a Sunday evening on the way to the airport. Once you enter the market, stay to the right and the taquería is on that side. There was a good amount of people already eating there. The employees do speak English, but you are welcome to flex your rusty Spanish skills if you feel confident enough. The menu is mostly in Spanish, but the tacos and burritos have English translations (namely they are the different meat options you can get for each). I opted for one barbacoa taco. Up until then, all I knew about barbacoa was that it was a meat option at Chipotle. But man, this barbacoa is TOTALLY different and on a whole other level. Taquería Los Pinos' version is the most tender, moist, fall-apart beef cheek you can find. It is not fatty at all and it is delicious. They pile enough meat on one taco to make two tacos, really. I found that one taco plus a shared side of beans and rice was all I really needed to feel stuffed. There is a small toppings bar right by the register. I saw some fresh salsa, radishes, cucumbers and a creamy green sauce that I quickly learned was very spicy. Proceed with caution. The tacos themselves come with onions and cilantro, and it looks like you can opt for sliced avocado and cotija cheese if you'd like (I assume for an extra fee). The tacos are served on double corn tortillas. They probably doubled up because of the sheer amount of meat they pile on. My husband got both al pastor and barbacoa tacos and while he said the al pastor was good, he thought the barbacoa was way better. Unfortunately, they ran out of fried plantains that day so I was unable to try those. Hope to next time. This is an amazing option for cheap, fast, filling food. Tacos run about $2 each, burritos are $5-6. They also have platters, quesadillas, enchiladas, flautas, tortas, chimichangas and more items if tacos are not your thing. read more
