I was randomly starving after leaving work one day and was planning to hit City BBQ up when I saw their sign. They don't have Poke Burritos, which was a bummer, but I'm glad they didn't after I sat down to eat my Poke Bowl. The atmosphere here is non-existent, which is why I bumped a star down. I have always had a pleasant experience at Poke bar. They are generous with their portions, and half a bowl of poke always fills me up and I have delicious leftovers for later. My go to order is half rice, half salad and two proteins usually spicy tuna and shrimp topped with crab salad, jalapeños, red onions and cilantro. What makes the bowl delicious are the sauce combinations, I do a ponzu and spicy mayo mix and top it with furikake and fried garlic. I thought overall it was very good. I love how many different options you have here. I feel I've had poke bowls before and you're able to get more components into these bowls than others. So you get more flavors here than I've gotten other places. We came here for dinner on a Friday evening at about 6:30 pm. This Poke Bar location is in very busy Abernathy Square shopping center in Sandy Springs. The parking lot is free and huge, and customers should be able to find parking here, but it may mean having to walk through the lot. We walked into the restaurant and one of the employees immediately greeted us and asked what she could get for us. This location is set up similarly to other stores in the chain. Customers can easily see all of the cold ingredients in front of them behind clear glass and tell the employee behind the counter what they want. For poke bowls, customers can choose to get a bowl that's has a set list of ingredients, or they can make their own. They select the size of the bowl, then choose their main (steamed white rice, brown rice, spring mix greens, or baby kale (+$1). Then customers select proteins, with the number of proteins included depending on the size of the bowl: albacore, Korean BBQ - bulgogi (hot protein), salmon, shrimp, spicy chicken, spicy pork bulgogi (hot protein), spicy tuna, teriyaki chicken, tofu and tuna. Customers can then select up to 9 mix ins, up to 9 sauce flavors and up to 12 toppings. Plus there are other ad-ins that you can had included, for an uncharge. Drinks and desserts are sold here too. We chose to make our own medium bowls. I usually get the steamed white rice. salmon, spicy tuna and tuna, almost all of the mix ins, ponzu and sweet chili sauces and the majority of toppings. The thing I like about Poke Bar is that the employees mix most of the proteins (not the spicy tuna) and all of the mix ins and sauces. This allows the proteins, mix ins and sauces to be spread out, and mixing the flavors, especially the sauces, allows for consistent flavoring throughout, which, I feel, results in a much better experience. This was our second try at a poke bar in Sandy Springs and between the two that we tried, I think that this was our favorite. Both were similar in vibe (and actually both empty on a Friday evening) which is quick service with the ability to build a bowl with customized toppings after you choose your base and protein(s). There were a number of preset bowls that you could choose or you can customize everything from the start. We liked the fact that they had Korean BBQ as protein choices, and the spiciness was more approachable than the other bar that we tried. One thing that we did realize is that the difference between the small and medium bowl was marginal, if at all. The small bowl was filled more and the ingredients got smashed a little, but the volume that went into both of them looked similar. Both were delicious and I would definitely choose this one again. The one thing that this did not offer was the poke burrito option, but having tried that at the other poke bar, I decided that I would prefer the poke bowl anyway. The burrito option being filled as full as I wanted it tended to fall apart during consumption anyway, so the bowl would have been more convenient. I would ask to add a little more and received some looks from them. The crab meat was also warm and didn't taste fresh. There were a few others in line that had complained as well, and we tried to be understanding. I come here frequently and really enjoy it everytime. I love the easy assembly line set up where i can watch the worker pile on all my toppings and see the magic happen. Theres a variety of sizes and toppings you can choose from. My fave is a medium bowl with half brown rice and half spring mix. They give you a pretty good amount of toppings and its free until you get to some of the fancy ones at the end. Medium bowls are approx $10 and honestly filling in a healthy sort of way. Highly recommend seaweed salad, pineapples, and all four toppings (spicy, sesame, crunchy garlic, onion) by the register. You know it's going to be bad when you walk in and see a sign that says 25% off your order with a positive online review. As if that wasn't enough of a warning sign of what was about to come, I look to my right and saw a sign advertising Boba tea. There was a part of the sign that read "free Boba" and it was marked out with a big X using black sharpie. As we approach the counter, we noticed how filthy and grimy everything looked inside the restaurant. At that point, we went ahead and started ordering and noticed that a lot of the ingredients look like they have been sitting out all day long. As we proceed to check out the person who has been helping me literally picks his nose. That's right he was picking his nose while he was ringing us up. My girlfriend asked if we could buy a soda and they explained that their soda machine was broken so they had no fountain drinks to offer us. I then asked about getting some Boba and they said they were all out of the Boba bubbles. So there were no drinks available inside the restaurant. While the person was in the middle of ringing me up and picking his nose, he brought up you can get 25% off for doing a good online review. I definitely declined because at the time there was no way it would have been good so I just skipped it. We took our food home stopping by Quik trip on the way to grab some sodas. Then as we open our containers and began eating we both noticed the food was not fresh at all my girlfriend absolutely loves poke and is a big fan of the poke bar restaurant chain. I love this place! There's nothing else like it nearby that I know of. I definitely thought it had something to do with Pokemon in the beginning... It doesn't. Poke is basically marinated sashimi. They don't have options for people that don't like raw fish/tofu. It's in the publix lot so there's plenty of parking. It's counter service and everything is prepared already so the time for food is minimal. It gets super packed at lunch. You get a ton of food for cheap which is awesome. I love the salmon here. This place is SO GOOD! I'm craving it as I am writing this. I went there for the first time today for lunch because of great reviews and word of mouth. I got the medium bowl which comes with three scoops. For protein I picked two scoops of salmon and one scoop of spicy tuna. For toppings I asked for everything except pineapple. For sauces I asked for ponzo, house, and spicy mayo. For salads I asked for seaweed salad and crab salad. That was my bowl. Man everything was delicious and flavorful and so fresh. It's way better than sushi roll. I highly recommend this place for all sushi lovers out there. All proteins are raw except for shrimp so if you love sushi but cooked then go for shrimp. The wasabi shoyu is also made with soy sauce (shoyu = soy sauce). The sides and toppings were par for the course, similar to the quality you'd find at most sushi restaurants. The tamago wasn't bad, but a bit underwhelming (a few measly strips). Overall though, I liked it. At checkout, they have cups of organic iced green tea ($3 each). The green tea is powder-based. They also have coconut water ($3) and fountain drinks ($1.95). The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with an open layout (all tables). Seating capacity is roughly 40 (all interior). Service was great. The staff we encountered was friendly and well-trained. They use Clover for payment processing so you can have receipts electronically sent to you. I had mine emailed. Overall the quality of the food is good but lack in sauce that ties the meal together. I've tried the spicy mayo, house, and ponzu sauce but nothing really makes the meal a whole and just feel like you have ingredients just tossed together.
