I happened to drive by Carnitas Los Reyes off Broadway in Tucson and something told me to stop and I'm really glad I did! This was my first time trying this food truck and it absolutely did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The carnitas were packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and easily some of the best I've had in Tucson. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, just the way great street food should be. On top of that, the service was on point. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and had my order out quickly even though they were busy. You can tell they take pride in what they're doing. If you're driving down Broadway and see this truck, do yourself a favor and stop. This is easily one of the best food trucks I've ever been to. These are THE BEST CARNITAS in Tucson. Hands down no comparison. The food truck is at Sean and broadway. It's a walk up and order situation, then there are picnic tables set up under a permanent spot to eat. The service is spectacular. Get the green sauce. The queso birria taco is amazing too. After several excellent wknd visits I popped in for a weekday lunch around 1p... and it ended up being a 3-1/2 star experience :-/ When I arrived there were 4 others waiting for food already. Nonetheless, my 3 tacos were ready in about 12-13 minutes. Despite three people working in the truck, the outside tables all had food/drink residue and the condiments cart was out of onions; salsa; and chopped cabbage. As for the tacos, the carnitas was loaded and excellent as usual but the quesabirria was sadly light on birria and the cabeza was simply way too fatty this time... sigh. Their shade sail makes eating outside tolerable and I really like the large jug of water with soap bottle to cleanse after devouring these sometimes sloppy tacos. Hopefully this particular weekday experience was an anomaly! read more

Came after work around 3:30pm before they closed at 4pm. Staff was friendly! Menu is short as mentioned. I got two birria and two carnitas. Good value and a great spot for lunch. There was about a 10 min wait. I ordered to go and they packed all the toppings conveniently so that I had everything to enjoy my food. They packed red salsa, green salsa, pico, cabbage and limes. The carnitas was okay. On its own it was on the verge of bland. The green salsa and red salsa are absolutely necessary which I dont like. I would get them again if in the area. The birria was even more bland. Not for me. The cheese was great but the beef just didn't have that oomf and again really needed the salsas. Consume was just ok. My meal total with the processing fee was $17.41. Each item on the menu is charged its own card processing fee which I felt was dishonest. My card was run once. read more

My family and I love Carnitas Los Reyes. The carnitas taste great. The quesabirrias are absolutely delicious. I believe they make their tortillas fresh daily and they are soo good! My daughter loves their tacos de cabeza. We ask them to remove a bit of the cueritos/grasita since she doesn't like them and they do which is so kind! They always pack a bunch of toppings/ salsas for the to go orders. My personal favorites are the guacamole salsa and the chilli oil salsa. So yummy and a family owned business. Great staff and excellent tacos. They're known for their carnitas (shredded pork) but give their terrific cabeza (cow cheek) and quesabirria (shredded beef and cheese seared in a pan) a try too. To-go orders come pre-equipped with a nice assortment of 5-6 salsas/condiments in the bag! If you dine at their covered outdoor tables there's a salsa bar with 7-8 condiments including chopped onions; cabbage; diced tomato salsas; etc. Classic bottled sodas are available for purchase and there's even a little hand-washing station, very thoughtful! I'm not a fan of birria but gave it a try and it was good. However, I love carnitas and these tacos are ridiculously good; specially because they use corn tortillas. Ever since moving to Tucson I found it weird most places serve tacos in flour tortillas. Anyway, the food is great. The only con to this place is its hours. 9am is breakfast hour and 4pm is out of work hours. I've wanted to stop for food after work but they're closed. The only days I've tried this place is on my days off. If the schedule could be from 11-6. It would be amazing and they would probably get more traffic (customers). read more

My oh my, this truck is bomb! I had the opportunity to try them out while they were set up at the Girl Scouts of southern Arizona's trunk or treat event and I'm so glad I did. The quesabirria was delicious and their birria was super flavorful and their tortillas were so yummy, I loved the texture. They have some delicious salsas and sides as well like pickled jalapeños which is one of my favorite things to pair with tacos. Service was friendly and my food was ready quickly. I will admit that I drove by this place multiple times, curious, but not stopping due to it being a million degrees in Tucson and not wanting to eat outside... but today my regular taco joint was closed for a vacation and I decided to give them a try. And boy, do I not regret it at all! In fact, I regret not coming here sooner. Service was so friendly and helpful, and they got the food out to you quickly. The prices were very fair, especially given that the tacos were a decent size and made with fresh homemade corn tortillas, so they're totally gluten free for anyone with an intolerance like I have. The salsas were fresh, covered (so you don't have to worry about bugs), and full of flavor. Now, I will say that my family is from Michoacán, Mexico, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to carnitas because I know very well what's good and what isn't. Well, these carnitas were fantastic. The best I've tried in Tucson and beating even my favorite places in SoCal. These were real, delicious, Mexican carnitas with real salsas that aren't made just for the gringo palate (though they did have mild to hot salsas for anyone who prefers milder ones). The birria consomé and tacos were also very tasty. Everything was seasoned perfectly. Give this place a try! Carnitas Los Reyes is a new food truck on the eastside, and I came running when I heard they had birria and homemade corn tortillas. The staff working here are friendly, and everything seemed very clean. Although the carnitas by the pound was tempting, I ordered a birria plate for lunch. Protip: Do not order consommé on the side since the birria plate already comes in a container full of consommé and a side of corn tortillas. I was impressed by the delicious flavor and tenderness of the meat. The birria paired perfectly with their excellent selection of salsas at the front of the food truck. For a light lunch for two people, the birria plate would be perfect. I'm excited to go back to Carnitas Los Reyes again! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find them since my first visit; I did not see their truck in their usual location during their posted business hours. Wow, what great food!! I got their birra plate as well as a carnitas taco, the carnitas was crispy and sooo yummy! The birra was honestly some of the best birria I've had, the consume flavor was perfect! I spend a lot of time in Mexico during the winters and this birria rivals those down south! read more
