    6 rolled tacos

First time eating at Nico's My husband ordered the carnitas burrito and I ordered the 6 rolled tacos and everything was delicious, the service was fast and great customer service. We will be definitely be coming back

This is the place to go for tasty and affordable Mexican food. Prices are still lower here than at other places, and the portions are filling. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after another afternoon walking along the Loop with our dogs. I had a Flying Saucer and my friend ordered a Super Burrito. Both meals were under $11. Service was fast and friendly. My Saucer had plenty of chicken to compliment the refried beans. I ate it all, including the fried flour shell. I didn't need to eat anything else the rest of the day. This place has outdoor seating facing Broadway, but our dogs were happy resting in the truck in the shade

I've been craving a great breakfast burrito and Nico's is it. I've tried a couple around town and this is definitely my favorite so far, hands down. Chorizo & Eggs Burrito with potatoes was amazing. Quick and kind service, stuffed, and not too expensive. I will definitely be back!

This location absolutely sucks. They are NEVER open when they say they will be--whether you're looking at business hours online or the hours posted on the front door. There have been at least three separate occasions in the last two years when we have showed up during their posted business hours only to find no one there. The food? It's fine! Middle-of-the-road drive-thru Mexican: Better than Losbetos and Viva, but not as good as Filiberto's and certainly not as good as any food truck. But the prices are definitely higher than the quality of the food. That's always been my issue with Nico's. Two burritos will easily run you $20. Assuming they're even open to make them for you, that is.

I'm a big fan of the Steak, Eggs and cheese burritos and lately at other Nico's they have been skimping on steak and replacing it with potatoes but that isn't the case here. The burrito's are packed with steak and still under $10.

I walked by Nico's Mexican Food when I was out for a stroll while staying nearby. When I did I was interested and filed it in the back of my mind to possibly stop in. I'm certainly glad I did. The inside is very unassuming but it works well. You'll find a very extensive menu board posted overhead and a clean dining area. I quickly found what I wanted and ordered to go. I ordered two bean burritos without cheese. I'll put my disclaimer here if anyone is mostly plant based like I am, I don't know if the re fried beans contain lard. I didn't ask. Some places use lard in their re fried beans and if I would have thought of it at the time I would have asked. Anyway, my to go order came out very fast (less then 5 minutes) in the mean time I visited the salsa bar and got a few tasty looking salsas. I wish they were labeled but it's not a big deal. The burritos were huge! Truly large portions are served here. When I got back to my hotel I ate the burritos and they were very, very good. I was surprised at the flavors of such a simple dish but the tortilla was outstanding and the beans were on point. I added salsas to them and it just made the flavors more intense. I really enjoyed my meal and it was very reasonably priced. The service was very warm and kind. I will most definitely be back if I am in the area again.

Beautiful bean cheese and rice burrito

This Nico's has NEVER let me down. My boyfriend and I go to this specific location at least once every 2 weeks and they are always very nice and the food is amazing.

Nico's is a Tucson fast food institution! This chain of Mexican-inspired restaurants offers a simple menu of tacos, burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, chimichangas, quesadillas, tortas, and combo plates, all with a similar selection of proteins and all at ridiculously cheap prices! But I have to admit.. my first bite of Nico's was a sore disappointment. I started with the green chile taco, which came with chunks of pork in a chile verde salsa, topped with lettuce and shredded processed white and yellow cheese, all on two soft corn tortillas. The pork was disappointingly dry and the salsa was flavorless. On the side came two additional salsas (red and green), but both of these were watery and flavorless too. A slight improvement on the chile verde was the shredded beef taco, which came on a slightly crunchy (but pliable) tortilla shell along with the same generic lettuce/cheese toppings. The beef tasted better and was juicier than the pork, but overall, this taco was still a bit of a disappointment flavorwise. But then my eyes were opened. Nico's has a whole menu of breakfast burritos (served all day), and I ordered the machaca and eggs burrito. The machaca was a shredded dried beef, which had been rehydrated and then layered with scrambled egg and green chili pepper, all wrapped up inside a flour tortilla. The machaca was definitely the star of the burrito--it was super juicy and had a hearty, meaty flavor that went surprisingly well with the scrambled egg and the slight spice of the chili pepper. The flour tortilla that the burrito came on was unlike flour tortillas I've had elsewhere--it was super chewy and slightly gummy (in a good way) and even had some flavor all on its own! It was the perfect vessel for delivering the delicious fillings of the burrito! So while the tacos at Nico's were skippable, the burritos were a revelation, and the amount of meat that came inside was unbelievable given the price point!

Overcooked fish tacos. We threw it away.
    Jessica L.

Not good burritos. If you like a giant flavorless Super Burrito this could be good for you but if you like flavor and juiciness and cheesiness move on. The carne asada looked old and boiled. It was chewy and not seasoned. The tortilla was barely cooked, we took it home and threw them on the stove to toast. The Fish Tacos was inedible. The fish itself was hard. It looks like they burned the fish and still decided to put it in the tacos. The Nachos Supreme was store bought chips with a spoon of the boiled beef thrown on top and cheese melted on top. The only good thing was the salsa.

Not bad for fast Mexican. The drive-thru is the only option as dine in is closed. The service was pretty fast and the menudo was pretty good. It was a nice balance of hominy and tripe. I wish they had packed chiles and oregano, but got the other accompaniments like limes, onions, and cilantro. The menudo ran about $8 which seems to be reasonable price for the food.

Food is SO GOOD. We got the carne asada burrito and it is just as good as all the other reviews say it is. My boyfriend has had a ton of Mexican food before and called it the best burrito he's EVER had. Meat is very juicy and plentiful. Chicken enchiladas are also very good. Meat is also juicy and plentiful. Sauce is mild but good flavor. Beans are slightly chunky which I like. Fish tacos were okay. Slightly bland and taco fell apart because there was so much filling inside. Would probably recommend something else. Overall, food is super good and service is quick!! Also, make sure you check in here so that if you get a combo, you get a free medium drink!

My hubs suggested that we go to The Frida and see if we could get in. We drive over and guess what, we go lucky, must have been that everyone had a 4th of July hangover. We sat at the bar and couldn't be happier. Our server/bartender took great care of us, he offered us drinks, took our food order and made my hubby a really good Margarita, The Frida Margarita, he said it was bomb! I ordered a beer and it came with a chilled glass and lime wedge. We decided on the flautas and the mole enchiladas. Both fantastic, tasty and hearty! I got full with two enchiladas so I donated the third to my hubby, which he was super happy to eat. I have to say, the mole sauce was decadent and full of flavors. It really reminded me of my grandmas mole. It also left a delicious numbing (very slight) on my lips. Perfect balance of nutty, spicy, almost semi sweet goodness. Gorgeously prepared and looked almost too good to eat. Almost..... The place was full, we were still able to have a conversation. It was amazing. Will definitely be back to continue to enjoy the carefully curated menu. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed! This screams a great place to work and obviously enjoy. Well done La Frida! Well done!

Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. It feels like a Mexican dinner or at least what I imagined a dinner in Mexico would look like. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.

We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
