This was our first visit. My husband and I are here visiting my dad and this is just right down the road from his house. Dad ordered the Carne Asada Chimichanga and loved it. Took leftovers home. Husband had the ground beef burrito and also loved his. Took his leftovers as well. I had the quesobirria tacos and absolutely loved them. They were the perfect amount and no need for leftovers for me. They both ordered beers and I had the frozen peach margarita.....mmmmm soooooo good. Edie our server was great and funny. He's very intentive and on top of things. I had also noticed that the other employee was constantly cleaning when he had down time (we were there at 3:00, so a slower time) It's a smaller place but outside had a lot more seating options with misters running. This place is so small but definitely worth a try. The parking is limited. We set outside which was only possible on this lovely hot Tucson day because we were in the shade and they have fenomenal misters set up. Service was great. Chips and salsa are very good here. Tasty quality Mexican food. I really enjoyed this spot, everything was delicious, fresh, well seasoned, and well done. The birria taco had tender meat, melty cheese, and great with the consommé. The taquitos were crispy, tender potatoes on the inside and very tasty with the guacamole and sour cream. Rice was fluffy and beans had a rich flavor. This was our first visit to Amelia's Mexican Kitchen, and it definitely won't be our last. There were three of us dining, and we started with an assortment of tacos: three carne asada, three quesabirria, and one al pastor. The quesabirria tacos were absolutely outstanding--honestly the best birria tacos I've had so far. My husband and daughter both agreed. They were perfectly crisp without being greasy and packed with incredible flavor. My husband's favorite was the carne asada tacos. He commented on the wonderful charcoal-grilled flavor of the meat and enjoyed them so much that he ordered six more to take home. I had the al pastor taco, which was topped with pineapple and was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The marinade complemented the pork without overpowering it. For our entrées, my daughter had the barbecue chicken and shredded beef quesadilla, which she really enjoyed. I ordered the birria enchiladas and couldn't decide between the restaurant's famous house-made mole and the green sauce, so I asked for half and half. That turned out to be the perfect choice. The mole was phenomenal--rich, complex, and incredibly well-balanced. Every plate that came to our table was beautifully presented. One thing that really stood out throughout the meal was the seasoning. Nothing was over-salted, over-seasoned, or under-seasoned. Everything tasted natural, fresh, and exactly as it should. The food was satisfying without feeling heavy afterward, which is something I really appreciate. Our daughter loved the horchata so much she ended up drinking three glasses! I enjoyed the house margarita, which had an excellent balance of flavors. My husband had a Colima beer that he described as having a nice balance somewhere between a Hefeweizen and an IPA, but without the bitterness. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake and the flan. I believe the cheesecake is house-made, and it was excellent. The flan, however, was the star for me. It was easily the best flan I've ever had--silky, perfectly textured, and not overly sweet or overly vanilla. It was simply right on the money. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. We never had to ask for drink refills or anything else because she was always one step ahead. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, with around nine indoor tables, but it's charming and beautifully decorated. There is additional outdoor seating with misters, which is a nice touch during Tucson's warmer months. I noticed several walk-in guests waiting for tables, but because we had made reservations, we were seated immediately at our reserved time. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit. Overall, our entire family left happy. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, naturally flavored, and beautifully seasoned. The food, drinks, desserts, service, and atmosphere all came together for a wonderful dining experience. Amelia's Mexican Kitchen absolutely earned five stars from us, and we're already looking forward to coming back with more family members! read more

Kept seeing this restaurant on my social media feed and thought I'd give it a go. My wife and I stopped in here on a Sunday morning hoping to get some good Mexican breakfast, but were pretty disappointed. I ordered the chilaquiles and it had zero flavor, although the presentation was great! My wife ordered the birria flautas, which also had no flavor, but it was presented nicely. The waitress was very nice and offered her take on the menu. We may give this place another shot, but we'll see, as there are tons of good spots around town, we just need to find them... On our way to Saguaro National Park East, we made a quick stop at Amelia's Mexican Kitchen for takeout, and it turned out to be one of those "well that escalated quickly" food moments. Service was excellent. Lorenzo was friendly, thoughtful, and actually listened, which shouldn't be rare, but somehow still is. He had our burritos cut in half for easy sharing while driving, and made sure we were set before sending us on our way. We ordered the machaca and the avocado chorizo burritos. Let me say this plainly. These things are massive. You could easily split one and be perfectly happy. We did not know this going in, but now you do. The coffee, though... skip it. They gave me a generous cup, but it tasted like it had had a long night and given up halfway through. No strength, no flavor, just vibes. Now the burritos? Completely different story. Hands down some of the best I've ever had, and I've been around the burrito block more than a few times. The machaca was the standout. Loaded with tender beef, eggs, potatoes, and plenty of cheese, all wrapped in a tortilla so thin and light it felt like it had no business holding everything together, yet somehow did, like a quiet overachiever. The place was buzzing for a Tuesday at 10:45 in the morning, which tells you everything you need to know. Locals show up when something's worth it. So yes, grab the burritos. My expectations weren't high here, but I definitely enjoyed this place. Now, I am going to go into what I don't like too much and you're going to wonder why this place got 4 stars instead of 3, but I'll put it all together, I promise. First off, the Carne Asada, which I had to try since that's the thing I'm doing in Tucson, was very poor. The cut was bad, it was a tad dry and only mildly flavorful. Not good. The jalapeño chicken taco was bland. Chicken a tad overcooked. But the margarita was tremendous. I really enjoyed it and the glass. It was strong but balanced well. Made with intention to satisfy, not cut costs. Much appreciated! Speaking of which, a frozen margarita was ordered and it was watery with almost no alcohol. When made aware of this, the server explained that it was made earlier and he apologized and gave a free shot to balance it out. So he also contributed to the fourth star. All in all, the stuff I liked here I REALLY liked. The stuff that wasn't so good I could just skip and still find happiness. I do recommend this place and I'll be back. read more

Wonderful to see in the summer so many people supporting local They had limited parking and we dealt with some road rage in the parking lot from another person trying to go to Amelia's. We were immediately sat outside- there was a fan and misters so not terrible for a July night. But the table was so sticky I couldn't put my phone down and it was wobbly the entire time. Service was a little slow since it was busy which was fine. I was told they had a lot of gluten free options but when I asked the server seemed confused. The menu isn't labeled and they weren't able to easily say my options. I ended up going with the taquitos because she confirmed that it was corn. The flavor was okay but I loved the beans and rice paired with it. My mom liked her michelada but I've had better margaritas unfortunately. The presentation was beautiful but it tasted a little too sweet and like syrup for me. My mom had the nachos which was big serving but she wasn't a fan of the cheese sauce. read more

The interior is smaller than the other location, and unfortunately, they do not provide chips and salsa here like the other location. The music and colorful mural inside is neat. Amelia's is cute spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. There was a bit of a delay getting me seated while the host went to check on reservations. Service was ok (busser was very friendly). The beef tamale had more masa than I'm used to but was ok. The beans weren't very flavored - never had beans quite that bland (I noticed another group dining next to me didn't eat their beans either.). I had been wanting to try this place for some time and took my family there mid-afternoon which was a good idea as it is really small inside. I did have a reservation. There is more seating outside with a mister but was glad to be inside. Our server was good but the person that brought the food had to be asked twice for eating utensils and napkins. Would have been nice to have them from the beginning. The margarita was okay but not fantastic. I had three street tacos-2 pastor which were very good and a carne asada which was not as flavorful but fine. One person had an enchilada and liked it. Everyone liked their meal pretty well. They have an all day breakfast option that looked tempting and the other breakfast items looked good. They had a lot of smaller items you could mix and match so could be nice for any time of day. We went to the Amelia's on north Oracle. Food was excellent, service was subpar. Upon arrival the hostess asked if we were celebrating and we replied anniversary. They did nothing to help us celebrate. It wasn't that we wanted special attention but why ask and then do nothing? Those who were seated at the same time around us were served pretty quickly, we paid attention to what they had, ok, the standard mix of burritos, tacos, etc. I ordered the molcajete mixto, my wife had the chicken enchiladas with mole. Parking in compact car spaces in a very crowded lot on Saturday at 4 made for difficult navigation, and I drive a CRV! Altogether the Amelia's experience was about average but the food was top tier.
