The food was so fresh and flavorful, it wasn't needed They have a nice selection of Mexican beers on tap or by the bottle. They also have a great mixed drink menu, which we didn't try. If you're from the Baja region of Mexico, you accompany your sea food with a Pacifico, as I did. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the wide menu options. I can't wait to be back on my next trip to Tucson.

I think so…read more La Palma may be the closest experience in Tucson to the Baja fish tacos I could find throughout Southern California. Their big white food trailer is topped with a large blue tarp that shades a comfortable seating area. The location is kiddy corner from a gleaming white church at the opposite side of the intersection. In a short time, La Palma has become my go-to for fish tacos because the quality is consistent and they know how to dress the tacos with the right combination of flavors. Additionally, they make a mean horchata that compliments the meal perfectly. I'm probably in the wrong crowds because I have not heard other people mention La Palma while praising quite lesser places. I don't get it. All I can say is that for those SoCal folks who are passing through Tucson and are hankering for good fish tacos, pull up to La Palma and be overjoyed. P.S. They have two restaurants by the same name that sit opposite of each other. I hear their counterpart is just as good. We entered the building from the left and told the host the name the reservation was under. The host wasn't as attentive as she should have been. She hardly even looked as us. We were standing there and she seemed to be busy with something else. No ' it'll be just a few minutes', nothing. She was talking with the other ladies. Finally we were seated. Our server was very nice. We decided on two steak dinners. My wife had the 8oz filet and I got the rib-eye both med-rare. Our steaks look good when we received it. But my steak was served rare! It was chewy and fatty. I chewed for days just to get a single piece down. My wife steak was overcooked to medium. There's nothing worse than an overcooked filet mignon! We don't like sending food back for obvious reasons. We've heard too many horror stories, not to mention I use to work in the food industry. As I mentioned, our server was very nice and attentive as well! She constantly checked on us and my tip reflected that! For a $170.00 bill, our meal was mediocre at best. Every bite was delicious. Their bolognese has a serious kick to it so if you are not into spicy food I would skip it. We got a tiramisu for dessert and it was spectacular!! One or actually two comments I must make which were unpleasant. The bread was served in the bread basket covered with a napkin and it was very cold as if it just came out of the fridge. In about 5 minutes after delivering the bread a young lady who was not our server came up to us and asked if she could take it away. We said that it just arrived, however, she was somewhat insistent so we let her take it away. She took the basket, the oil, the vinegar and the plate with an uneaten slice of bread. The fish and the coating were under seasoned and bland. He wasn't happy with the fries, either. He expected regular fries as our server specified, but received shoestrings, some of which were overly crisp but the ones under the fish were soggy. He did praise the cole slaw. Although neither of us could finish our meal, we did order dessert. We shared the pecan caramel cheesecake and it was ridiculously delicious: smooth, tangy, and not too sweet. Just perfect. We managed to finish it and mentioned to the manager/owner? how good it was. He laughed and said no judging if we licked the plate. The ambiance of the dining room is elegance, almost vintage, and feels special. The restaurant was very busy, which I am thrilled to see, but quite noisy. It was not as creamy as the regular (of course) but if they only have Vegan left, it is still worth trying this unique version of ice cream and mix-ins.
