I stopped by Cotijas Mexican Food when I was craving something quick but satisfying -- and it…read moredefinitely hit the spot Food: The portions were generous and flavorful. The carne asada was juicy and well-seasoned, and the tortillas tasted fresh. Their salsa bar is a win -- good variety with actual spice (not just mild pretending to be hot). Everything came out hot and made to order, which I always appreciate. Service: Fast and efficient. It's more of a casual counter-service vibe, but the staff was polite and kept the line moving. Even during a busy rush, the wait wasn't long. Ambiance: Clean, laid-back, and perfect for a casual lunch or quick dinner. Not fancy, but comfortable and reliable. It feels like a go-to neighborhood spot when you don't want to overthink it. Overall, Cotijas is one of those dependable places you can count on for solid Mexican food at a fair price. I'd definitely be back for an easy weeknight meal.

I used to think they were good until this very last visit that just PMO even when I think about it as I'm writing my review. I guess since I last visited I found out they accept cards now so that's convenient. Still in a crazy area with strays and homeless yelling at you. Anyway I ordered a shrimp a la diabla burrito of course because duh why not "they are known for their shrimp a la diabla burritos" so I never really enjoyed rice in my burrito. The shrimp a la diabla comes with diabla shrimp, tartar sauce, and rice I believe. So I had the bright idea of substituting the rice for some lettuce instead because I know it needed a filler. I know the diabla burrito can get a bit messy. But I wasn't expecting what I got when I came home to eat. It was a wet mess inside! No damn lettuce in sight, just a bunch of liquid and shrimp inside wrapped in a messy burrito. Whoever tf wrapped that burrito should get fired for that. Like 1.) why would you wrap my stuff so loose knowing there was bunch of liquid. 2.) why would you scoop all that juice inside a burrito knowing good and well it'd be wet. 3.) do you not know how to read; where was my lettuce?! So it basically broke apart and was a wet mess I literally couldn't even hold my burrito up. Never again!

Lol all the reviews here about the rude girl working the cashier in front is a bit relatable. Well…read moreshe wasn't rude to me but she was just short and looked like she had a stank attitude and hated her job but that could just be her face. She took my order and was straight to the point; no frills or thrills so no complaints on my part. It's convenient that they're open 24/7 but since there are in a shared plaza in the middle, there's no drive thru making you have to go inside. I like how there was an open salsa bar with different options of hot sauces ranging from mild to spicy. They even have hot carrots, jalapeños, and radishes out for free which is a winner to me! They do have a sign limiting you to 3 sauces per person and that they have cameras watching lol. The service was super quick I was still getting my hot sauces when the food was already done to my surprise. As for the food itself ehh it was okay. Their cheese quesadilla was a little on the burnt side. Their rolled tacos and asada nachos came with everything which included guac, pico, sour cream, lettuce so that was a plus for me not to order any extras since some just come with the basic cheese. They were both good.

Service was good overall and fast. May comeback again if I crave rolled tacos again.

We sat outside, had a couple of drinks, and didn't want to leave. The service was warm and attentive. Our server knew the menu well and steered us toward the right dishes. What really stood out is that this isn't generic Mexican food. You can tell the staff really put care into their dishes. If you haven't been to Casa Gabriela yet, go. Take someone you like and order extra food. You won't regret it!

The restaurant was busy when we got there but was pretty quiet by the time we left. Love that right when you get there they drop off chips and salsa and they never hesitate to refill as needed. We got a round of margs and was happy that they could make it spicy at no extra charge. Delicious as always. The reason for the low rating this time was my food. I got the panela a la plancha, super excited to try this grilled cheese in a salad. First, my food came out significantly later than my group. The waiter even made a comment and had to go back and check in. Second, when I got it there was no cheese to be seen. It was pretty much a ton of arugula and a small amt of toppings. Pretty disappointing.

Take a look at the picture below and tell me that is not one of the BEST looking burritos you have ever seen. 10/10 spilt pull of a burrito. Makes your stomach talk to you and say "OM NOM NOM GIVE ME BURRITO!" The flavor, the taste, the texture, everything was perfection. Absolutely delicious! Ms Gorger ended up getting the 3 Mini Tacos (Adobada) with rice and beans. Ms Gorger says that these are her absolute favorite tacos she has ever had! The lady ringing us up was super nice and I forgot to mention, we took our order to go and it was ready in 3 MINUTES. I was shocked and had to ask her if this was our meal! Love good fast service. If you are ever in the area please go try this place, you will not regret at all. Thank you Chuy's Taco Shop! Will be back soon! Best, TBG (The Big Gorger)

On my bday, I came here for lunch and ordered 1 carnitas burrito & 1 horchata. We sat inside the…read moreshop and ate. The burrito was very delicious, I liked the little shredded lettuce and pico that they had on the side of the plate. If it was in the burrito that would have made it even better. It was nice that they didn't just have the pulled pork, but bits of fat as well. Texturally was nice. My mom said she would have liked a little more crisp on the carnitas. The salsas were restocked and delicious! I loved the green one and the extra hot was a fav of my mom. I also really enjoyed the carrots! The only thing was while I was eating the burrito, I bit into something hard and I took it out -- it was a piece of a bone. It was shaped a little bigger than a pebble. I didn't know it was possible to have bones in carnitas/a burrito. Idk if that's the norm, because when we mentioned it-- the woman working basically casually continued her napkin sorting or whatever and said "oh okay.." lol this made me think this was just another everyday occurrence. Although, a little more acknowledgment would have been better on her end. For this specific experience, 3 stars, but truly a 4-5 star taco shop! Overall, minus the bone, and the dry response...the food was great! Salsas fresh and restocked, they had way more options than usual. The horchata was a little too sweet, but overall refreshing. They have a large menu, so be sure to check it out.
