My wife and I both purchased our wedding dresses at Sparkle and loved our experiences! I had done some very casual shopping at a couple of other places, and as a plus-size woman some places had very slim pickings for dresses in my size. Before my appointment, I had a video call with Sandra, the owner, to chat about what I was looking for so she could have some dresses already pulled for me to try on when I went in. The dress I purchased was the second one I tried on, but I still had fun trying on all of the other dresses. Sandra clearly has a keen eye for design, and there were dresses to fit pretty much any style in the shop. I loved that each dress is limited production, so I knew my dress would be unique! Sandra made me feel so comfortable and beautiful throughout my whole appointment. When my wife went for her appointment, it was her first experience shopping for a wedding dress and she was very anxious going in. I had already purchased my dress and Sandra made sure my dress was nowhere in the shop so we wouldn't accidentally purchase the same dress! She had a wonderful experience that put her at ease and got to try on several options. She was certain going in that she wasn't going to purchase anything but found her dress that day! This shop is great if you're plus size and want a more traditional wedding dress. It's great to go into a bridal store and actually fit into multiple styles of dresses, especially after you've been given the bungee cord treatment at other stores. The staff was also kind and helpful the entire appointment and the store is closed other than appointments so it was nice and relaxed / quiet while I was there. That being said, they don't allow you to take pictures which is honestly absurd. My friends and family live all over the country which makes it impossible to spend my bridal appointment with the people who I would like to share that moment with. I'm not able to share anything with them from this shop. My consultant said this is because they have a designer who's specific to the store and they don't want their dress designs stolen, but the dresses look like every other dress on the market.... I could understand if these were unique dresses but they're not. I actually left without a dress because I was looking for something different than what I've seen everywhere else and nothing hit that mark. Don't get me wrong- there are absolutely pretty dresses, but if you want something nontraditional there's not really anything to choose from. If you're plus size and want a traditional pretty wedding dress, this shop is worth going to. It seems like from the dresses I tried on, expect to pay at least $2500 for a dress! read more

My daughter made an appointment to try on bridal dresses. It was our third appointment of the day. We were told if we did not show we would be charged $50. She found a dress at the second place we went to Miosa Bride. I phoned Sparkle at 11A and told them she thought she'd found her dress. I did not want to waste anyone's time by trying on more dresses. The woman who answered said she would talk to her manager about waiving the $50. I did tell her we'd be happy to keep the appointment, but really thought my daughter had found her dream dress. The woman responded again that she would speak w/her manager and would get back to me that day. No phone call from her, the charge went onto my cc immediately! In contrast, when I phoned to cancel her David's Bridal appointment, the woman was thrilled that my daughter found her dress! She thanked me and appreciated my phone call. I purchased my dress from Sparkle last December and just recently picked it up earlier this month. Here's my experience from start to finish: You have to book an appointment in advance. Prior to your appointment, a stylist will reach out to you asking about what you are looking for and getting details. My stylist was Sophia and she was great! We had a great conversation through text message about the style of dress that I was looking for and some custom work that I wanted done. I shared pictures of what I liked and didn't. We arrived to the appointment and the door was locked. The people ahead of us were running late, so we had to wait. They let us come in and sit while they finished up. I believe we only ended up having to wait 10 minutes or so, if that. Once we were brought back, Sophia had selected several dresses that matched the one I had described. They don't let you take pictures until you purchase, so be aware. I found the dress! It's amazing and I absolutely love it. After taxes and fees, it was around $2600. I used a payment plan and it was great. I was told the dress would be arriving sometime in mid July of 2024 which was okay because my wedding is in October. Sophia said that she would give me updates as the process went on. Sophia did send several updates about where it was in the process and said that we were on target for our delivery date. Things got complicated when the middle of July came and went. I messaged a few times and was told that they would let me know when it was in and I could pick it up then. August comes around and no update. I message again asking for a date range so that I could plan, and was told by another staff that my dress would be delivered the next week and they would let me know. My dress did come in, but it was about a week later than that last estimate. I still have no reason or explanation as to why it was so late. It definitely cuts down on my customization and alteration timelines. This was one of the things I disliked the most about this experience. So I do eventually get notified that the dress can be picked up and we set up an appointment for it. We arrive for that appointment and have to wait again because the prior appointment ran over. This wait was not long, 5 minutes or so. I try on the dress and it's absolutely amazing! I still love it so much. During this part I'm asked if I wanted to take it home in a bag that day. I say yes, and then learn that there is an upcharge for the bag of $50. Yikes! I might be wrong, but I just paid a lot of money for a dress, I don't understand why the bag charge was left to this day and not brought up during the initial fitting appointment so everything could have been taken care of. I decline the upsell bag and leave with my dress in a glorified white plastic garbage bag. Not a great feeling and really throws off the vibe of the day and the shop. So, to summarize: Dresses? 10/10 Customer Service? 9/10 (took off point for no notice/explanation of lateness) Store Policies? 6/10 Overall, I highly recommend. read more

Out of sheer panic, I purchased the only dress they had in my size. I knew I wasn't happy, but I thought I could make it work. After leaving, my best friend suggested that I look into other shops. I'm short, curvy, and struggle with clothes shopping. When I stumbled upon an ad for Sparkle, I was intrigued. Fast forward to my appointment- the girls are absolute sweethearts! The bride ahead of me was running behind and the associates were great about communicating with me. They have these beautiful dressing rooms with massive mirrors. The associate actually stayed in the room to help me in the dress (the previous store I visited didn't help at all). Bad experience that ensures we will never recommend or use this shop. We went to the shop to ask for a tailor recommendation for a dress my daughter purchased elsewhere. Just a recommendation. What happens? She was extremely incredibly rude. My daughter was treated like trash. The store keeper said to us - "you need to find someone in your area." What does this mean? I came here after my first dress appointment at another bridal shop went terrible. I was afraid they were going to stuff me into another sample dress that didn't fit at all but all my worries were put to rest the second I came in. Before my appointment my stylist Brittany asked me about what style dresses I liked to have them ready for me. The whole appointment I felt so beautiful and special. My biggest fear is that I would have to settle for something that would fit vs something I felt beautiful in. Brittany was super responsive to my comments and picked bunch of beautiful gowns. Merchandise is specially selected with the curvaceous woman in mind to offer just the right fit where you need it most. They also have lots of sparkling jewelry to add glitz and glamour to any dress - earrings, necklaces, bracelets and tiaras, along with traditional veils, headpieces and other accessories. Their promise is to make any woman look and feel beautiful on her wedding day. They do prefer that brides-to-be schedule an appointment in advance so that they can be prepared with dress preferences and make sure stock, color and sizes will be available. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they want to make sure all future brides get that special attention that every lucky woman expects. Finding a wedding dress isn't as hard as "Say Yes to the Dress" makes it out to be. However, if you don't fit in the wedding dress size that numerous big names often tailor their dresses around then you're SOL. I remember in high school, looking for prom dresses, and witnessing another woman unable to fit any display dresses and how upset she was (crying, cursing, sweaty) because her size 10 was actually size 14 (plus) in dress size. I vowed to never succumb to that embarrassment if ever I needed to find a wedding dress. So while searching to wedding boutiques I kept in mind that I'm most likely not going to be anything close to what my pant size is in dress shopping. I made that bold, italicized, underlined, and highlighted in my mind. So when I found SBC I knew that if I hit this place up I'd most likely find a dress that would actually fit with little to no alterations. So yah, my pant size to dress size ratio was not at all close but hey, it fit! The staff was really friendly and honest if my family and I asked them any questions. They gave great advice and was fully dedicated in helping me find something to my liking. I did find a dress. It fit my personality, they style wedding, and my body shape (a trifecta if you ask me). Since we ordered it a little close to the wedding we needed to rush order it which did cost an extra few hundred. So I was expecting the dress to be delivered somewhere within the beginning of February. I knocked a star off because of the miscommunication of the status of my dress. A lot of phone tagging on when I was able to pick up my dress along with figuring out the status of my dress was a bit discouraging. Ever since I decided to get married, finding a dress that fit me, made me feel comfortable and being able to find that "bride experience" was one of my main anxieties. I went out to try on wedding dresses for my December wedding in July, I went to a David's Bridal first and was very disappointed after that appointment, but Sparkle turned my whole day around! The store was so nice and felt very private and intimate. The woman who assisted me, PJ, was so incredibly welcoming and helpful! They messaged with me before my appointment and pulled dressed that fit my wedding vision (celestial). The dresses were all so gorgeous and beautiful and PJ told me why they had selected them and how they connected to the things I said I wanted in a dress. I was able to visit at the end of their summer sale and I found my perfect dress on clearance, which I loved. I'm leaving 1 star due to a MAJOR experience flaw: this place does NOT allow you to take your own pictures/selfies in their dresses. This is NOT listed in the appointment details when booking on the website nor was it mentioned in the "before you arrive details" text I received prior to the appt. Instead, the stylist will take pictures for you on their iPad, and then IF you buy the dress, then they'll send you the pictures they took of you in it.... what?! They explained this is because the dresses are custom and they don't want you taking the design elsewhere. Strange, but fine. However, this was NOT mentioned at all so I was shocked when I arrived. I wasn't even allowed to FaceTime my mom from my phone. Instead the stylist used her iPad to call her... why?! What's the difference? It wasn't like she facetimed using some special no screenshots app so why can't I call my mother when I'm trying on wedding dresses? My mom lives on the other side of the country so this was very frustrating. As a plus sized bride to be I've had a very difficult time finding a dresses that I like, let alone a salon that catered to my size. I was thrilled when I found Sparkle and drove over an hour to go to my appt after having visited 5 other bridal salons/boutiques. Because this process has been so overwhelming for me, I have been shopping alone so I could focus, so I did not have anyone from my bridal party. The dress options were great, and the girl who helped me was so kind... but no pictures? Especially for curvy girls who are already so insecure shopping for their dresses... that is insane! A big part of the process in selecting dresses is looking back through pictures to see how the dress looks from that (camera) perspective being that 100 million pictures will be taken on the big day. My appointment was 4 days ago and I can't stop thinking about how disappointed I am with this ridiculous policy, compounded with the lack of notice. I would think that people who have the money to take other dresses and use them to make their own/copy the style would simply work with their designer. As far as wedding dresses go, there was nothing so truly unique or secretly special about these dresses that warranted this kind of red tape. The no pictures policy seems absolutely unnecessary and is giving very paranoid vibes in my opinion. I was ready to go $1k over my budget for the dress I loved, but I couldn't share it with my friends/family to consult with them so it quickly left my mind and I went with another dress elsewhere. Sparkle needs to make sure this "no pictures" policy is crystal clear for future brides shopping. I would have prioritized having people there with me to see the dresses had I known this. I'm extremely disappointed. What was supposed to be a better experience going to a curvy shop ended up really hurting my feelings and left me feeling so defeated. I cried the entire hour home, stressed that I only had until the end of the day to "say yes" otherwise I'd lose a $200 discount... yet I couldn't show a single person the dress I was considering. I went here recently with a friend who was shopping for her wedding gown. When we arrived for our appointment, it was pretty quiet in the shop. We were offered little bottles of water, which was a nice touch. Everything from that point forward went downhill. We were under the impression that this shop specializes in plus-size bridal gowns. However, even though my friend expressed in advance the size range she would need, and they assured her over the phone they have dresses she could try, they pulled dresses that were in the smaller plus range that you could find at any bridal shop. The attendant assisting my friend did not seem very kind. She seemed put out to be helping us and made my friend uncomfortable. After two dresses, the bride realized this appointment wasn't going to end with her saying "yes to the dress" and decided it would be better to just end the appointment and not waste anyone's time. The attendant just walked away to the back of the store and left our group alone in the front. She didn't say bye or apologize or anything. No one else came out to help us. I see many women have had glowingly positive experiences here -- and I'm so glad. I also notice that between the 5 star reviews are pointed and incredibly similar 1 star reviews! I went to two other bridal shops to try on dresses and found the people there to be absolutely lovely. I found the staff at Sparkle to be rude and pointedly unhelpful. I personally would not buy a dress from here on principal after the way I was treated. Plenty of other bridal shops offer plus size dresses. read more

The consultant knew from the beginning that I had a hectic work schedule. I rescheduled a few times and was required to pay a booking fee on $175, since my bridal party was 7+. NEVER was I informed that should I not be able to make it, the deposit was NON refundable. I messaged the consultant the day before that I was unable to make the appointment and heard nothing back. I spoke to the owner about a refund and she told me it was non refundable. I never signed ANYTHING, the consultant FAILED to inform me of this and I am now out $175 dollars. Money that is vital to saving for a wedding. I am extremely upset with their lack of communication and their poor handling of the situation. The owner was of no help. I would not recommend this business for a busy, working future bride. read more

I was disappointed by the way our entire appointment experience went. Our party of 4 was 20 minutes early for appointment but we couldn't go in to Sparkles until our appointment time.The boutique was empty! Only the host and her assistant were there. We were told to wait outside on a day when the temp was over 100 degrees. Fortunately, we were able to wait at a café across the street and we would get a call back. They did not give a call back to say they were ready for us as promised. I had to call them back 20 minutes after our appointment time to ask if they were ready for us. Their reason for us not able to go into the boutique was due to their covid rules which understandable but the county is already opening and the vaccinations are already over 70% and businesses were already fully opening. There wasn't a crowd in the boutique accept for six people total(our party was4 )! We couldn't remove our masks even though we stated we are all fully vaccinated and there wasn't any other groups there. Plus, we couldn't look through their collection of dresses that were on the floor. We felt like kids told to keep your hands off! It was look with our eyes but strictly do not touch. Sandra was our host and she was already bothered by our group as we were trying to regenerate a positive energy for our bride's first time experience. Rules were no pictures, keep mask on, put phones away, and no touching! Sandra already had a few dresses picked out based off of my text recommendations but when we were there, she did not let the bride search for her own picks or be respectful to the bride on who would help her change into the dresses. Some women feel very self conscious about this. Our bride tried on all of Sandra's selections (I think it was 5 or 6) but that was it . The bride choose 2 dresses that were apart of Sandra's pick but the 1 dress she really liked wasn't going to be available for purchase because of size and the wedding time frame. It was just a complete negative experience for our party and the bride. That day felt ruined. After our group left Sparkles, I called another bridal show and they gave our bride a really great experience. The bride's day was saved by a Blessing because at the end, the bride found her special dress, we had pictures to show her mom, our group was able to be mask free, the bride was able to search through dresses for her likes, and you could see and hear our groups enjoyable experience. Sadly, Sparkles gave our group a really negative experience. I hope Sandra rethinks how she runs her business in the future so other brides to be do not experience that type of negativity. After visiting your website we felt that this would be a memorable experience for our bride to be. This was not the case! Once we arrived at your bridle shop we immediately felt numerous negative vibes. Since we were the only four in the entire store and our temperature was taken as we entered this bridle shop we felt it was unreasonable to ask that we wear a mask. (We also mentioned we had all be vaccinate). We were not allowed to look or touch any of the bridle gowns or accessories. In addition the bride to be was not asked or allowed to have her maid of honor help in the dressing room. Instead the manager took it upon herself to invade the privacy of the bride. She felt very uncomfortable disrobing in front of a stranger. We were also refrained from taking any pictures of the bride to be. This was very uncomfortable for all of us. Wearing a mask did not allow the bride to be to see our facial expressions as she modeled each gown. As we had planned on taking photos to share with the mother of the bride who could not attend due to her immobility. The manger stated we could only take photos if we purchased a gown. If you're a plus size girl looking for a nice dress shopping experience, I recommend this place! I do have a couple complaints, but we'll get to that. To set up the scene, I started my dress shopping adventure at David's Bridal. Mistake! They didn't have many in my size + the style I was looking for (If it matters, I'm a size 18 and was looking for a dress with lace sleeves, possibly tea length). The dressing rooms are hardly big enough to fit both you and the pouffy dress you're about to put on, and in addition to that there's the associate that's helping you put it on in the room as well. Tiny, hot, cramped; far from glamorous. The associate seemed annoyed that I wasn't able to find "the one" out of the meager selection she showed me. So after that, walking into Sparkle was a breathe of fresh air. The store is small but not crowded, it looked like they only allow up to two appointments at the same time. They said with my time frame I could only buy off the rack (this is the only plus David's gets, their dresses ship much faster) - but even so I was able to try on much more dresses than I was able to at David's. The changing area is HUGE and accommodating. The girls helping you are very friendly and also plus size, so stripping down in front of them isn't quiet as terrifying. Another nice touch was the necklace they gave me upon purchasing the dress. It's very pretty, and is something I still wear. I was also sent a hand written thank you card in the mail a week or so later. Things like this aren't mandatory, but they leave a lasting impression. "Big" businesses never do such things, and it's a great reminder to support smaller businesses when you can. The only downsides happened after we left. We were told they would assist us in finding a seamstress for my dress (they don't do their own alterations) that had experience with plus size gowns. When some time had passed and I hadn't heard from them with any seamstresses, I emailed them, twice, with no response. I believe my mother called the shop at one point and didn't receive a return call, either. When I did hear back from they apologized and said they had been busy getting ready for their upcoming sale...which leads me to the other downside. They were having a sale on ALL of their dresses in the same month I had bought mine, and didn't think to mention that before I bought it? Frustrating. But I suppose that's business. That aside, I would still suggest this place to all plus size brides. But I strongly suggest you don't wait until the last minute!!! Since my dress was off the rack, it was also 3 sizes too big (this is why the seamstress thing was such a big deal). So go early and they can order your actual size! They can be hard to get a hold of, so if you plan accordingly and if you're lucky, you won't have to try and get a hold of them once you leave. Finding quality, plus size stores is not easy, so I hope this place sticks around! read more
