So grateful I was referred to Kim! I purchased a sample dress that was about 2-3 sizes larger and it was heavily beaded/detailed from top to bottom. I came in for a quote and from there my appointments went like this: 1st appt for fitting where she pinned the dress to my size and I left the dress with her; the 2nd appt I came in to try on the dress, it had been sewed down to my size but the fabric had not been cut, this was to ensure everything was perfect before making any hard alternations; the 3rd appt I tried on the dress and took it home! Kim was professional and careful from start to finish, and took into account little adjustments as needed during the process. I recommend anyone to prioritize two things before you drop off your dress: 1st, finalize any shapewear/undergarments and shoes to wear with each appt; and 2nd, finalize any jewelry/accessories/hairstyle. Unless you have a long timeline to work with, it's going to be a LOT harder to decide or even finetune these items later when time is limited and - let me tell you - you'll be dealing with a million other details. The photos show how much fabric my dress had before alterations, especially with how short I am! (For reference, I'm 4'11 haha and in the first photo I'm even standing on a wood platform). I bought the dress in February and brought the dress in at the end of that month. My wedding was set for June and she had it done by the end of May!! The shoulder straps were too long and needed to be shortened, I needing boning, and support for the girlies (the dress had no built in bra). With just 3 fitting appointments, Kim made sure the dress fit my body so well! I went to another tailor shop for a second price and they told me it was "impossible" to put a bra in the dress and just told me to buy the breast tapes (which I did not want to deal with during a summer wedding). I found Couture Designs on Yelp and was absolutely delighted with the service I received. Kim was an absolute joy to work with. I wanted to wear my grandma's wedding dress for my wedding but needed to have some repairs and alterations done. Kim handled the dress with care and seamlessly fixed holes and extended the bodice out so that it would fit me more comfortably. Her work was spectacular and it was nearly impossible to tell where the changes were made. I stumbled upon Kim's services via yelp and I drove out of my way from El Dorado Hills so she could work on my dress based on her glowing reviews. I had purchased my dress blindly online during the onset of lockdown and never proceeded to try it on until months later. I had reached out to Kim via email expressing my concerns and knowing how long a lead time was needed to for alterations. She assured me the safety protocols used in their shop and I felt comfortable coming in. We started the process 2.5 months in advance of the wedding. We had the initial consultation in which she pinned me in to the dress and she was clear from the start what needed to be done. The dress had a considerable amount of length to be taken off, the straps had to be shortened and the whole detail lace pieces on the bust had to be lifted up. I appreciated that she explained each step and answered all my questions and was very upfront with the fee for the work. I had another appointment at the mid point of the process and she very thoroughly explained all the bustle options available. Fast forward to the wedding, the dress fit like a dream! The bustle, with the carefully color coded thread to match the right buttons, were the little details I never knew I needed. I highly recommend her services! I am a size 2-4 and i bought a displayed wedding dress from La Soie that was a size 6-10. Therefore, i had to get alterations. I went shopping around for a wedding alteration place in the Sacramento area to about 4 different places, looking for the right seamstress. I had quotes from $300-$800 and Couture Designs was in the middle. From the moment i walked in Couture Designs, i knew this place was going to be the one who touches my dress. I got the opportunity to work with Kim who was very professional, helpful, competent, responsive, and friendly. Kim and her team made my dress look phenomenal to the point that it did not look like any alterations was done to my dress! It fitted me very comfortably and perfectly! I had a really long beautiful train to my dress, and Kim helped me do a French bustle with 6 bustles that made it look seamless when the train was put up. I was very happy how my dress turned out. Since the company I purchased it from wouldn't have one in stock in time for my trip to Paris, I found Kim on Yelp and I am so incredibly grateful. Kim assessed the situation, and said she could make it h. I needed about an inch panel on each side in order to fit around my rib cage (dress was couture sizing) and didn't think there was any way based on the heavy beading. Not only did she make it happen, but worked miracle to match the beading pattern EXACTLY. The dress ended up perfect and fit like it was made for my body. The owner, Kim, is so amazing and talented and what she does. I brought in my wedding dress and reception dress and she did a fantastic job. On the wedding dress in needed the bottom to be taken up (it is eyelash lace so that is tricky), she added straps, took in the waist and under bust, added a bustle for the train, trimmed veil and fitted the dress to the corset. I also had a second less expensive dress taken in-in the waist ans under bust and she did a fantastic job. I believe I paid $750 for the two dress alterations, I made sure to get them to her early since she is very popular and her quality work needs time since she is very accurate. I highly recommend this place for all your alterations, Kim is the gem you didn't know you needed. Also took my dress to her recommendation "Rytina's". This place is great!!! As you can see from the pictures I am very short so a good portion of my skirt had to be altered since it was so long. I was so worried about the embroidered details getting cut. Kim was able to take it up from the waist. I was so amazed at how well it turned out. I used Yelp's feature to request a quote for a dress I need hemmed (not a wedding dress.) The owner asked me a few questions. I sent pics and I let them know that the dress was a single layer garment, not lined, and that I just needed a few inches taken off the bottom (no other alterations.) I don't want to embarrass them too much, so I won't say the actual price they quoted me but it was well over $80... made me wonder how much they would've quoted me if I actually needed more done to my dress. I thought I was asking for a simple service. I am all for supporting small businesses; I was not looking for the cheapest price in town, but one that I could trust and would do a good job. I found Kim via Yelp and I was hoping these raving reviews were not wrong! I got another quote from another business and they quoted me $1200! That was almost as much as I paid for my dress! Here comes Kim to the rescue! She tailored my dress first for my June 2020 wedding, but then pandemic, so we postponed. We then decided to have a tiny backyard wedding, and my size had changed significantly (by about 2 sizes) since the last time we met, and she tailored my dress again without charging me anything extra. I came to Kim to have my wedding dress altered because of her great Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed! First, let me explain that I bought a very cheap dress from China for under $200. The dress was shipped to me in a balled mess, but I knew I could work with what I was given if I found a good seamstress. Kim did an excellent job in hemming my dress and being able to assess what did and did not need to be done. She even recommended a great place (Rytina Fine Cleaners) to have my dress pressed. Also, as I mentioned, my dress was cheaply made and from China. When I brought it to Rytina they were able to point out a few things that needed work. They worked closely with Kim to have the snags fixed. It was nice to work with two local businesses that hold each other in high regard. In my hurry to get things done, I never paid attention to all the minor details that were wrong with my dress. Kim and Rytina fixed them all and the dress came out beautifully. After dealing with multiple issues from the dress shop where I purchased my dress, Kim was able to take on my alterations with only 7 weeks to go before my wedding. She was able to do all of the necessary alterations including hemming my dress and taking it in. Additionally, she was able to add a lining to the bodice, a bow, and detachable sleeves to the dress. It had like ten different points on it. I had a pretty complicated dress with like 12 layers. Kim is the best! Extremely talented and a very kind person. I had emailed her when I saw her reviews on Yelp and she got back to me quickly. I brought in my wedding dress which was a mermaid style dress with tons of layers of tulle at the bottom with a long train. It was definitely a job for a skilled seamstress. Since the dress was pretty well fitted on the bodice, we didn't have to do much with that. She did an amazing job with the train and bustle, sewing in cups and adding my belt. My dress also had a few brown stains from when I picked up my dress and she was able to give me a referral to Rytina cleaners who were able to get it out perfectly right before the wedding. My MOH was also late to my final fitting to learn how to bustle my dress and Kim was willing to shoot an iphone video to teach her in case she didn't make it. I always felt taken care of here.
