I have put off writing this review for years because I didn't want to leave a locally owned business a bad review, but I was recently reminded why I stopped shopping there when I went in against my best judgement around Thanksgiving last month. When this place first opened it was awesome. They had the best deals in town, unbelievable deals. The cuts and quality of the meats were amazing. I shopped here every week. I chuckled at the pro-2A environment where much of the staff openly carries guns. I once asked if it was because they had a lot of problems and one of the guys told me "f*** around and find out." I was a little put off at this because I was genuinely curious and felt his response was very unprofessional, but as a CCW permit holder myself I just ignored it and continued shopping here. My first issue goes all the way back to when Hurricane Matthew was coming to town. I pulled two of my propane tanks to go get them topped off here as they sell propane...huge huge mistake. One of my tanks was probably half full and the other maybe down a pound. The owner charged me the full cost to refill both tanks because "that's how they do it." He didn't bother to tell me this until it was time to pay. They don't charge by the gallon or by weight, but just to fill up each tank. I feel like this was dishonest and bad business. Especially since everywhere else charges you that way. I wasn't doing an exchange, I was getting them filled. Save your money and go to KB Johnson or even Tractor Supply where they only charge you for what you use. My second issue was when I pulled a packaged steak from the cooler. When I went to cook it, the bottom of the steaks were completely brown. I understand that some steaks take on this "aging" and get a bit of a smell, it wasn't my first brown steak. But this one smelled soooo bad. Reluctantly I cooked it anyway because I had nothing else. I took one bite and immediately spit it out. This steak was bad. It must have gotten warm from sitting out or something, to this day I've never had anything that bad in my life. I took photos before cooking and after and sent them a message. They pretty much tried to tell me it was my fault and that it was just aged and after some back and forth they agreed to replace it. I went in and the replacement they gave me was pathetic. I had purchased two big ribeyes about an inch thick and almost 3lbs total. They gave me about 14oz of the most pathetic looking .25" thick ribeyes you'd ever seen and sent me on my way. Then comes Thanksgiving this year. I stopped in because I was in the area and I didn't have time to run down to the better butcher shops such as the Angier Meat Market. I like my steaks thick, like 2-3" thick. They didn't have any. It was super busy as people were picking up turkey and other stuff, I kindly asked one of the workers behind the counter if they could cut me a thick steak and I was told that they would have to charge me a custom cut fee because they were so busy and didn't have time to take care of personal requests. I go to Costco all the time and they are a thousand times busier and they will cut a custom steak without charging a fee. WTF? Needless to say I walked out and took my business elsewhere and I'll never go back. Too many disappointments and bad customer service interactions over and over again. I have more stories about problems here but you get the point if you're still reading. You are much better off going to Lee's (formerly McLambs) down in Benson. Good service. Huge selection. Locally owned. And 1000 times more friendly, but more important, honest. Costco has better quality meat at better prices (not locally owned obviously). The Butchers Market in Holly Springs has amazing quality and cuts and again the service is what you'd expect if you expect good service. Angier Meat Market is close. And now we have the Meat House off of Judd Parkway which also blows this place out of the water. read more

This is a clean and professional butcher shop with great selections as well as BOGO deals. The beef filet was hands down the best steak I have ever eaten. New to the area and finally venturing out for local treasures. The shop is small and the wait in a "line" is a little slow but prices are comp to the Mart or King but definitely looks fresh and tasty. Haven't grilled anything up yet but I'm optimistic. The workers are quiet and polite. Busy. No time to chit chat. Always wonderful to support a Veteran owned store. . Fantastic meat selection. Bought brisket burgers which were tender and delicious. The shaved ribeye was extremely tender...haven't tried the italian sausage yet..but that is today. Called last week to ask if they would have smoked turkey breast for thanksgiving. They said yes and took my info to reserve one. Husband went from Fuquay to Angier to get it at the time they had given me on the phone, 10am. One of the girls told him it was still in the smoker and it would be ready in two hours could he come back. Again go from Fuquay to Angier five hours later. They have no idea what I'm talking about. First and last time gracing their doors. I told a worker it was my first time and wanted to try their kielbasa. Without speaking, he pointed to the owner who was on the other side of me putting out overpriced chicken. I asked about the kielbasa and he rudely told me they were out of it. My husband and I went here for the first time this weekend! The amount of meat we purchased for $64 was INSANE!! Everything was fresh, the staff was friendly, and service was quick. The store looked very clean as well!! Definitely had a great selection of meats at a reasonable price.
