While the wait was long I have to say it was worth it! The sauce was delicious and you get so much food. Only complaint was our waitress randomly tried to make our group 7 move tables after already seating us, but like I said it was busy and I guess they were trying to make room for another group. We are visiting from NJ and they don't do seafood boil like NC. This was BOMB! Cute modern decor and music. Our waitress Adrianna was nice and attentive, and our food came out quickly. The drinks were good, but the star of the show was the boil obviously. We got the Deluxe seafood combo, +4 eggs (trust me) and +1/2 lb of green mussels. We cleared it. On 2/23/2026 I went in person to order the low country boil mild Cajun and garlic butter. I specifically stated that I DO NOT want brown sugar or any sugar added to the boil. I was assured by the young lady who took my order that NO SUGAR will be added. Well when I got home and tasted the food SUGAR was added anyway. This message is to the restaurant as I don't know why you add sugar to a country boil. I am used to the way they make it in Atlanta at Juicy Crab and they don't put sugar in it at all. I am very upset because I ordered this in person instead of online to make sure SUGAR would not be added but you added it anyway. My meal is ruined and I will never order from the Carolina Crab off of S. College in Wilmington, NC ever again. I am so disappointed. read more

It creates a fun, inviting seaside vibe. As soon as we were seated, our server greeted us warmly and was incredibly attentive. Since I wasn't familiar with how the menu worked, she took the time to explain it thoroughly and even recommended some options, including the specials of the night. I ordered a seafood boil with mixed sauces, while my wife chose the fried shrimp basket. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, the corn was sweet and perfectly cooked, and the potatoes were seasoned nicely. Everything in my boil tasted great--though it was quite salty. To be fair, that may have been due to my choice of sauce, but it was a little overpowering for me. Despite that, the overall experience was excellent. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, the pricing was fair, and the ambience was relaxing yet lively. Most importantly, the service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. 5/27/26 went for dinner with my kid. One of the items we specifically asked for was the daily special which was $30 for two lbs of crab legs which I thought was great. When the bill came I just signed it and left assuming it would be correct. Later that night while reconciling my account, I noticed the bill was excessively large. Carolina Crab House charged us for four half pound orders of crab legs at $15.95 per for a total of $63.80. Quite a bit more than $30. When I called to report this error, I was told it was my fault and since I didn't catch it right there and already ate the food, nothing could be done. Pretty sneaky and dishonest. The lesson here is be careful and check your bill before leaving or they may pull the ole bait and switch routine and you may get an unpleasant surprise. Quality of the crab was watery with soggy shells and meat that was stuck to them and difficult to extract. They have permanently lost me as a customer. Rating: avoid. read more

Just ate at Carolina Crab House in Wilmington. The reviews I saw were complimentary. We were very disappointed got crab legs and they were all dried out and we're hard to get out of shell. Ask waitress to return them and bring us a new batch and the manager refused my request. Waitress offered to help me crack them. Shame on me for not taking pictures. I am in town for work and met up with my family (cousin, niece, nephew, and great nieces) who I haven't seen in 20 years or not at all! We were seated quickly. Everyone was full and at a reasonable price! I got the combo platter: fried catfish, fried oysters and Cajun fries. My cousin got the sweet potato fries. That's what I should've went with. The fried catfish was pretty good. Personally I like mine a little more crispy on the outside but it was fine. The fried oysters weren't as flavorful as I had hoped but the grilled oysters on a shell that my niece ordered was excellent. My niece also ordered the boiled seafood bag which had crab legs, corn on the cob and potatoes. It was pretty good too. It's kind of hard to top the Louisiana style cooking that I'm used to when it comes to that but it filled us up. Dessert was cheesecake (that I didn't need) and the kids liked it with the strawberry topping and chocolate topping. Nothing to rave about but I would probably go back. The experience was great thanks to the server. And the food and prices were way better than the place I had stopped at just before this one. The place was clean and the bathrooms were clean. Found this place when looking for a place to get take out. We ordered online and went inside to pick up. Pick up and ordering went smoothly. We ordered some fried calamari, fried okra, and hushpuppies. Our order came with sauces of ranch , tartar sauce, and butter. The okra was very good but I think it's hard to mess that up. The hush puppies didn't have much flavor and the fried calamari was okay. Overall we decided we wouldn't order from here again but was fine to have once. read more

I got the Wednesday with garlic butter sauce. It was just what the doctor ordered. I felt like it was a lot of food for $28.50. Be prepared to sit there for a while digging into everything. Messy business but they provide the bib, napkins, and easy bagging to go. I felt like there was plenty for two people. Will be back again. Wish they had beer on tap though. Came in got seated fairly quickly. My waitress Was Natalie. Natalie was great, she was very knowledgeable of the menu. It wasn't overly crowded like most seafood places which was great. Had a nice long bar if you wanted to sit at the bar with tv's. Clean bathrooms with running "Hot" water. The oysters definitely hit the spot. I also had a boil bag "Wednesday" (their bags mostly go by days of the week). Food was steamed well not over cooked. Only thing I wished they had was plain white rice! Hopefully next time I return it's there. Also they had a variety of sauces you can do in a boil bag like most places you can pick mild up to spicy. I would say their sauce isn't super salty like most places which is great. The sauce is a little water down and not as thick as it comes on the oysters though. read more

Did not read any reviews. Of course I did pull up the reviews once seated and thought "Oh sh.t...this may not be good". So my experience was not as bad as some on this site. It's a solid 3 star restaurant. Basically they have about a 1/2 dozen fried basket selections on the menu, but the main entrees are the seafood boils. You basically pick your protein (shrimp, lobster tail, crayfish, sausage, etc.), pick the sauce (4 options) and the spice level. It comes out in a plastic bag containing a pound of protein plus a couple of potatoes and corn on the cob. You can mix and match the seafood, crayfish and sausage (1/2 pound each). Each protein has a different price per 1/2 pound, so the price fluctuates depending on which option you pick, and how many you pick. I got the shrimp and crayfish boil, house sauce, extra spicy. Extra spicy was not really that spicy at all. I personally love crayfish, but I wouldn't get it here again. You don't get a lot of crayfish in the bag, plus it take a lot of crayfish to fill up a guy. Shrimp was good though. We also tried the wings (buffalo flavor) and the fried shrimp basket. Wings were underwhelming. So was the shrimp basket. They do have a good selection of daiquiris on the menu. I did not get the chance to sample though. read more

I've tried a lot of seafood boils along the east coast, but this by far is my favorite spot. The sauce is so unique compared to other places. I find that a lot of places have sauce that leans toward the saltier side, but that isn't the case here. I highly recommend the house special sauce (also recommend spice if you can handle it). You're able to make your own combo with either 1/2 or 1 lb seafood and each bag comes with 2 corns and 2 potatoes. Otherwise, there's menu options. The service is decently quick, even on busier nights. However, there can be a waitlist so that is something to be mindful of. Our usual server, Natalie, is so sweet and is absolutely outstanding (super helpful with any questions or accommodations)!! HIGHLY recommend, especially if you're in town visiting! read more

But I needed a place that had availability last minute and had some good seafood options, Carolina Crab House delivered. My wife and I visited the Carolina Crab House for the first time on our 23rd anniversary. From the time we walked in until we walked out, we were both impressed. Our server took our order for drinks and appetizers right away, and then came back with another server to let us know she would be clocking out and introduced the new server to us. Our food came to our table well prepared, still hot, and you could tell it was fresh. And you get huge portions for the money. Also while the food is fried, it's not saturated in oil and easy to eat without weighting you down. My wife had the two combo plates with fish and shrimp, while I had the chicken and shrimp gumbo. My wife had so much food on her plate, that she had to give me two pieces of her fish. Her's came with four pieces of fish. The dining room is well-lit, and spaced to give you enough room to eat without being crowded. The best part was the restaurant didn't smell like a fish market.
