I had the shrimp tacos and my Husband had blackened Mahi Mahi and we split the Caesar salad. They didn't come with a side per se just a bag of lays chips. Pros: Located along the boardwalk. Server was nice and attentive. Cons: Value didn't match meals received. Low country boil had seasoning on the top layer so once shrimp and crawfish were peeled and mussels and oysters were cracked open, the actual seafood had no flavor. Boils are prepped early in the day so would have preferred having the boil soaked in butter and seasoning prior to being served. The steamed oysters were dry (they do not serve them raw). The corn didn't come with butter on it. Tacos were overloaded with cheese and sauce. The fries were the best thing we ordered. Overall lack of seasoning and overpriced menu items. Buzz's Roost is located right on the boardwalk in Carolina Beach. They have a bar area, inside and outside seating. Very casual, as you would expect. A lot of the restaurants on the boardwalk are just okay. Buzz's Roost actually exceeded my expectations. The menu is wide ranging with sandwiches, wraps, wings, tacos, salads and some more expensive entries. Recommend the Angry Ahi Tuna Tacos. Calamari is also good. I only remember beer in cans, no drafts. Correct me if I am wrong. They did have local beers on the menu. Full bar as well, but never tried anything other than beer. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped by this afternoon for a late lunch, and decided on the Low Country Boil. The bartender was great, attentive and checked on me periodically. The food wasn't as great as I had hoped. I ordered the boil with Old Bay, but it was pretty plain and the flavor was either washed out in the boil, or there was livery little added to begin with. The boil came out with 3 small crab clusters, this was more than I expected, but I soon discovered why that may have been. The crab was steamed a little too long and all the meat stuck to the inside of the shell, making it hard to separate and enjoy. I found myself using the crab fork to scrape it out of the shells. I know crab is a lot of work, but the tiny legs made it even more so with hardly any meat. The shrimp was great, about 5 medium shrimp in the boil. No trace of Old Bay, but the cocktail sauce worked. The sausage was not good, it had a very meaty taste to it with no seasonings. Potatoes were not boiled, but roasted and seasoned well. Corn was mushy. I'm giving this place a 4 because I know it's off season and the bartender was amazing. But I'll likely try another establishment for a boil in the future. read more

Was searching around for the cheapest steamed seafood on Carolina Beach. Decided to got to Buzz's because of their Tsunami for Two. It was $89.99. I have to say I was very pleased with the amount of food in the bucket, and how well it was all cooked. Crab meat pulled straight out of the shell no problem. It also comes with a full lobster, a lot of shrimp, mussels, clams, and potatoes. Our server was very chill and responsive. Wish I remembered his name. If you ever come to Carolina Beach in Wilmington, NC you have to go to Buzz's Roost. I went in and saw Maggie at the bar and asked her if we could sit outside and that was all it took. In all of our travels, she is the sweetest woman we've met. She took care of us and gave us her Carolina charm. Oh, the food was amazing to. I got the fried shrimp dinner which was delicious. Now, let me tell you about my wife's crab cake dinner. OMG, out of this world. Maryland has nothing on their crab cakes here. The price, crazy cheap.
