My husband and I stopped in for the first time during my birthday trip, and we had such a great experience. The restaurant was busy, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. It happened to be our server's first day on the job, and she could not have been more friendly or attentive. We tried several of the recommended dishes, and the crab dip was the best I've ever had! I also really enjoyed the gluten-free pasta. As someone with a gluten allergy, I really appreciated how many gluten-free options they were able to accommodate. Restaurant has a nice decor. I ordered the shrimp and fish it came with fries. Nothing else. There were more fries on my plate than there was fish or shrimp, I got 3 shrimp and 2 slices of I don't know what kind of fish about the size of four chicken mcnugget you'd get from mcdonald's. All of this for $29. I read several good reviews on this restaurant. It must have been from the prior owners. They have new owners. For a restaurant named Seaworthy you would expect more seafood to choose from. It will be interesting to see with the prices and the size of your proportions if they make it in the off season. read more

The Mac and cheese is absolutely delicious but contains bacon. The shrimp and grits were very complex - smoky, cheesy, savory, super tasty. The Caesar salad was the only slight miss for me. It was a bit heavier than I'm used to from the fried croutons. The lobster ravioli was delicious. The crispy tuna roll was fantastic - truly delicious. Stopped in for a late dinner and stood at the door without any staff for at least 10 minutes. There was a couple other groups waiting too. Luckily seats opened at the bar. Nice and casual little spot! We went here after we arrived to town on a Thursday, late afternoon. It seems like it was possibly a place where some of the locals like to hang out as there was a group in the corner that people came and went from and were having a great time. Sarah was our server/bartender and she was an absolute delight! So cheerful and helpful! In our party we ordered a lemon drop martini and a custom made spicy martini. Sarah told us she was pretty good at martinis and she was right. They were delicious! For food we ordered lobster ravioli and calabash plate (shrimp and flounder I believe). Both were tasty and we ate almost every bit of them. Sarah warned me that the lobster raviolis only came with three but that they were pretty packed, and again she was right. There's no way I could have ate another! She recommended getting an order of grilled bread to go along with it and I'm glad I listened. The bread tasted great and it was perfect for mopping up the sauce on the raviolis. The restaurant was clean, including the bathroom (there is only one bathroom. The privacy lock/dial wasn't working right...it locked fine, but it always showed occupied, even though no one was in there. Took me a few times of checking to figure it that no one was in there. Seaworthy is a great newer restaurant that we have added to our must visit places when we are at Carolina Beach. We tried them out last summer a few months after they opened and again on our last evening at the beach. They have added new dishes to the menu that were all delicious. My husband was very happy to see that the New England clam chowder was still on the menu. He almost killed the entire bowl before I had a chance to sample spoonful! His was so good that I almost ordered a cup for myself! The restaurant is tastefully decorated and centered around an open and airy bar. We decided to sit at the bar since they were not busy on a late Thursday evening before the craziness of Memorial weekend / peak season begins. The bartender was cheerful and attentive throughout our meal. She gave us great menu recommendations and answered all of our questions. Since we were leaving the beach the next morning, we decided to share several appetizers and the delicious catch of the week, fish tacos. You had the choice of grilled, blackened, or fried flounder. Naturally, we picked the fried. We were not disappointed. They tacos came with a large ramekin of black bean corn relish. It was not my favorite but a little more seasoning and healthy dose of cilantro would set it right. We were going to order the bruschetta but the bartender highly recommended the Caprese salad. It was definitely one of the best dishes of the evening so thank you! Seriously, you could put that pesto on cardboard and finish every single bite. I just ended up keeping the appetizer plate to wipe up the remaining pesto with whatever else I was eating. Fish taco, tuna, cucumbers, etc. So good! No shame in not wasting every tasty bit. We also ordered sesame ahi tuna tartare that was served with crispy wonton bites, thick sliced cucumbers, Wasabi aioli, and a ginger pineapple ponzu. They DO take reservations! Five star experience. New management, who seems to be very nice and invested (in a good way), but who kept all the same staff and recipes. Food was incredible - some of the best-cooked salmon I've had in a very long time, and the scallops were absolutely perfect. Try the caprese salad special if it's here - I eat a LOT of caprese salad, and that one was up there with my favorites. The chocolate cake was delish, pretty sweet but very good. Ambiance was nice -- not too loud, audible but pretty quiet music. I could definitely hear my dinner companions, but my elderly grandma struggled being able to hear at points. Jenna was a fantastic server, very friendly and welcoming. Everyone in my party really enjoyed the food, and we're all foodies with different tastes. We will be back! read more

Thought we would try something new on our latest trip to one of our fave beach towns, and, after reading a few reviews, Seaworthy was our choice for dinner on a Sunday night. We missed the early bird specials unfortunately from 3-5 pm which would have been spot on as we ordered clam chowder and also blackened fish tacos which would have been 1/2 the price. Oh well, live and learn. So, back to the review. Clam chowder was more of a stew not the thick cream based chowders we are used to, so be forewarned. Flounder tacos, although skimpy on the fish, was good enough, with a pineapple salsa and Baja sauce. Served with delicious roasted street corn on the cob. Our other dish was seared yellowfin tuna over a Greek salad. Prepared a lil beyond rare, my preference, and perfect. Overall, a decent experience. Only downsides were only one bartender/waitress holding down the duties, and the lack of any vibe. Lots of potential for this new place but needs to address the short staff, and ambience. Also they have high chairs now and nice that they are on 30local. We ordered the crabcake sandwich and the scallops dish with sides of macaroni and cheese and fries. Everything was great, but the macaroni and cheese wasn't as creamy as the first time. The scallops were perfectly seared and came with this delicious garlic pesto orzo. I wished it included a vegetable to make it more balanced (and interesting), especially considering the price at about $30. Fries were thin and crispy. Could've had more seasoning evenly distributed though. They didn't have a hardcopy of the dessert menu, but they did have desserts, which they did not have the first time. Went with the key lime dessert, which did not disappoint. It was a different texture than the usual key lime pie, more mousse like with a graham cracker crust on the bottom. Very disappointed in my recent visit. I had the red sea bass tacos and they smelled and tasted Fishy. I was starving so I ate 1 of the 3 but honestly didn't enjoy it. What a fantastic restaurant in Carolina Beach! The appetizers, chowder, entrees and drinks were all outstanding. The crab dip and tuna appetizers are a must. We ordered the salmon, lobster ravioli, shrimp and grits, and the tuna plate, and every single one was a 10/10. Our waitress, Jenna, was wonderful and really helped us make some great choices. Don't sweat the $50 reservation fee. It goes toward your bill and is worth every penny. My boys compared their meals to artisanal in banner elk (if you know, you know). Hidden Gem! We were looking for somewhere in Carolina Beach for a good seafood dinner on a Friday night of the Fourth of July weekend. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu is limited, which is a good thing. They have a good selection of cocktails and wine. I ordered the pan-seared scallops with garlic pesto orzo, plus a side salad with Caesar dressing (thinking that the portions might be small). The Caesar dressing was delicious and fresh. I have been here two more times since my first visit. The second time was during burger week. I heard the owners of this place had another restaurant, maybe in Raleigh, and it had one like 15th best burger in the state? So I figured I had to try their burger week special. I was extremely disappointed in them. They had 3 sliders. One had a crab cake on it. It was my least favorite flavor combo. The other one I think had pimento cheese. I don't remember. And the other was just a normal bacon cheeseburger. I asked for no bacon tho. The burgers were over cooked and flavorless. They were so dry they were kind of crumbly. Some bites were like eating gravel. I wasn't happy with my decision to try their special. I couldn't believe that this person won any kind of burger award or acknowledgment. I wouldn't even say they have the 15th best burger on CB based on this experience. The next time I went I went specifically for a pumpkin martini. I stopped in on a Monday. They do half priced martinis on Monday! So that was a great deal. It was $7 for the pumpkin martini. It was very good. Nice flavor and spices. I also decided to get one fish taco and I was there during happy hour (3-5) so they were $3. Not a bad stop for $10. The fish taco was outstanding. The fish was succulent and had great flavor. All the toppings complemented each other and made for an excellent bite. The plate they served it on was really funny tho. They put it on an appetizer plate which is super small. Yes the taco fits on it but once you pick it up and take a bite most of the toppings that fall off land on the bar, not the plate. It was a bit of a mess. Maybe putting it on a salad plate would work better. I plan on going back for another martini. The list was short but the ones they have sound like something I'd like to try. We are Kure Beach locals and always struggle to find an elevated meal on the island. My husband surprised me with Seaworthy for my birthday this year and, let me tell you, this is a great little restaurant. Wonderful food. Our server was awesome. We had the "sufboard" which is their version of a seafood charcuterie board. Fantastic and enough for 2 people to easily share. I will fully admit to having a complete crush on the smoked salmon - clearly smoked in house. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared and I could tell they take pride in the items they serve to their customers. They change the menu with the season from what I understand. We are looking forward to going back for the next iteration to see what chef will prepare. Make reservations - even in the off season this little place fills up quickly on weekend nights. read more

Would have liked to give a 5 star and even a 4 star review but could not find evidence to support that decision based on the food itself. Service was attentive, drinks were really good, Tilefish ceviche was amazing, but the entrees lacked. My wife ordered the Kale salad with fillet of salmon, and even tho she stated the salmon was good, there literally was no salad...just a plate of pecans and barely any kale at all and whatever little pieces of kale were there, they were soaked in dressing; you would think the salad would be the main dish. My son ordered the bacon cheese burger and a side of mac n cheese. The burger he described had a funny, off taste, off-grey color and the mac n cheese was fine, but what ever meat that came with it (i believe bacon lardons?) was basically inedible, just chewy if at all. Overall, inside was quaint, but the food was questionable and let me reiterate not all the food because obviously we only tried this place for the first time and i understand everything is subjective, and it pains me to not write positive statements but maybe something can be learned from this review. It's a semi-new restaurant so I also understand that its a process to find great chefs and to get in that groove of producing consistent cuisine.
