I feel like a broken record but, once again, Carolina Custom Design has taken a well-worn piece of my furniture and given it a brand new life. I mistakenly bought a classy-looking two -piece contemporary sofa in "bonded leather" from a local store over ten years ago. I loved the the design -- still loved it after all these years -- but the bonded leather split, cracked and pealed. I gave Carolina Custom Design the task of reviving the old sofa -- this time with real leather -- and the photo below is the result. Looks like my contemporary sofa is now good for at least another ten years or longer, and the seating is much softer and more comfortable to sit on. Inspired by a reddit post, I went to Carolina's a few weeks ago for a special project. My mother past away after a long fight with Pancreatic cancer in October and I wanted to have the same kind of project done with her sweaters so my family could remember her and know that she was always with them. So I went to Carolina's with the proposal and she owned it and then some, I brought in 5 of her sweaters and asked if they could convert them into pillows that I would give to my sisters and nieces. I expected to just get back pillows but each one ended up having a unique personality to them, from flaps that could cover each side of a pillow, to zippers being used for storage, to having the ability to add trinkets and customize them.. Here's the end result, if I ever need anything done again that is within Carolina's wheelhouse I would go back to her in a heartbeat.. We have used Carolina Custom Design for many projects over the last five years or so, and we've been completely delighted every time. For us they've done draperies, reupholstering, custom outdoor umbrella replacements and, most recently, they designed and fabricated a custom rounded ottoman that wraps around a corner. My Father Derek has known Carolina for as long as i can remember and has used her when he had his own design business, so when i moved into our new house in La Jolla we had her do our custom drapes there as well. We have very tall ceilings about 12ft high and we wanted something dramatic but also simple and chic. Well they did not disappoint, they matched the drapes perfectly with our slate grey fireplace and we had them add sheers to let light through. Our new custom drapes, blinds and rod were installed in our master bedroom yesterday. I was very impressed by Carolina's suggestions to achieve the look I wanted but without the weight of our previous drapes. The master bedroom opens onto a balcony by means of a sliding glass door, so the drapery yardage is extensive. Carolina suggested a pleat design that used less fabric which resulted in a much more airy feeling in the room. I've been looking for a new place for custom draperies for some time since Cutting Corners went out of business, and I feel like I hit the Mother Lode when I found Carolina. She helped me pick the perfect fabric for my new bedroom draperies and altered my bedspread to fit better. Then she made two throw cushions from a pair of my pillowcases that match the border print on the bedroom wall.
