After the negative experience elsewhere, I went on my health insurance website and looked for a provider in my area that was close to my home and accepting new patients. Lucky for me, I found Novant Health Pfafftown Family Medicine! The entire staff in this office is warm and welcoming. It is a smaller office, so the staff has a chance to become more familiar with you and what your health needs are. I have found that whether it is an in-person visit or video visit, Dr. Korang is always very thorough in his questioning to make sure he understands my health complaint, then he briefly walks me through his reasons for deciding on a particular course of treatment. As a patient, I really appreciate this communicative approach. I am thankful to have found a doctor and medical team that truly cares about my wellbeing. I highly recommend this medical practice.

Horrible and dishonest billing practices. They will not return calls. Billed me for a physical…read moredespite it being covered 100% by insurance. Instead they billed insurance for regular visit and me too since it was not fully covered if a regular visit. Insurance company confirmed there was no reason to do this and they would pay in full in billed correctly. Insurance company called them directly with me and they could not help and said would return call but never did. In addition they called me into the office to tell my the results of my blood work (panicking me something was wrong) only to have no reason to call me in vs telling me on phone AND then billed me for this visit. The insurance company also informed me they tried to bill them for drawing my blood on the day after my physical because they could not draw it on the day of my physical.

I have had multiple procedures and surgeries done at Medical Park Hospital through the years. The staff are all very caring and do their jobs well. When I was in for my first rectal cancer surgery and on a liquid diet, they kept bringing me sweet tea with my trays. I told the person from dietary that I do not like tea, but would appreciate something else to drink if they had anything, She said that was the standard menu for a liquid diet, but she would see what she could do. She left my room, then came back with 5 cans of Gatorade. She said to let her know if I needed more. The nurses are amazing. There were some technical issues in my room when I had my second rectal cancer surgery. My call bell wasn't working, so when I pressed it to ask for my pain medication, they did not get the notification at the nurse's station. It was around shift change, so luckily a CNA came in to get my vitals. I told her I had been ringing for my pain medication, but there was no answer. She ran out of the room, suddenly I was swarmed by nurses. They got me settled with my pain medication, then got to work trying to figure out why my call bell wasn't working. They messed with the plug in the wall, and it started working again. They also noticed my room was missing a phone, so they went and got me one. They wrote their direct phone number up on my white board, so in case the call bell stopped working again, I could call them instead. For the rest of the night, any time anybody came to check on me, they made sure my call bell still worked. I absolutely would have another procedure there again.

She has a wonderful bedside manner and takes whatever time you need to talk about your health. I have had a number of health issues and with her support, I have overcome almost all of them. I have been a patient at Maplewood for almost 20 years. Back in 2017, I went in for my annual…read morephysical. My PCP at the time was Dr. Lee. She was great, very thorough. As she was examining me, she asked me about my digestion. I told her about some issues I had been having and she got concerned. She sent me to a gastroenterologist. He recommended a colonoscopy. I ended up being diagnosed with stage 3b rectal cancer at the age of 39. If it had not been for Dr. Lee asking me about my digestion, I never would have brought it up. I credit her with saving my life. Several years ago, Dr. Lee left the practice, and I ended up randomly paired with Dr. Winborne for my next appointment. I am really glad that happened. Dr. Winborne takes the time to sit and listen to her patients. We had a few appointments together, and she said she would like to take over my care. I heartily agreed. Dr. Winborne understands my special needs as a rectal cancer survivor. She has a great bedside manner, and is very knowledgeable.

He worries about me and gives me the best advice. He does everything in his power to keep me stable and adjust my medications accordingly.
