Chunky Monkey!
Mike M.

They saved my dog's life! Brought in my dog (Chunky Monkey) with a stomach issue, they quickly determined that he had a blockage from something he swallowed. He hadn't eaten in days and would regurgitate any water he drank, he was weak, lethargic nothing like his bubbly self. He would have died soon enough. The staff was very attentive and listened to my concerns, they took action right away. Dr Lester came in to speak with me with what was wrong and my options, really my only option was immediate surgery to address the blockage. Surgery was performed that same night and completed around 11pm. Dr Lester would call us frequently and when she said she would call to keep us updated as we were always waiting to hear something. There was some complications, not with the surgery but with his bowel that took a little longer to heal due to the trauma caused by the blockage. He had to spend an extra 3 nights there for monitoring, proper healing , making sure he was eating again and drinking before coming home. After about 10 days at home with his 3 other siblings he was 100% back to normal and wanting to eat all the time if it were up to him. I also want to mention that the front reception ladies were very pleasant and helpful. Shout Out!!! Our family is very thankful to Dr Lester and her staff for the great work and care they provided to Chunky. Mike from Davidson, NC

Anyone who has a fur baby dog, cat or bird only wants the very best treatment when an emergency situation occurs. Lobby waiting area is huge and they have soda vending machines and also a snack machine. You never know how long an exam and treatment can take. My dog got the best possible treatment and they are both caring and compassionate. Totally professional with state of the art equipment and doctors. Better treatment and service than at a human ER department. Best part they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With 6 locations in NC and SC it's info worth saving just in case. CarolinaVet.com will take care of your precious ones.

Last night we took our fur baby Garfield, to Carolina Veterinary specialists hospital in mathews, we entered we filled out all the paperwork, they took him in right away they said he would be out shortly, the nurse upfront just took him from us without telling us, we thought it was protocal, so we just went with it, we proceeded to sit down, and proceeded to wait 5 hours, when the nurse specifically told us he would be out shortly. Then the nurse took us into a room saying we could see Garfield getting checked up, just for the nurse to ask us what was wrong with him once again, in my mind she should be telling what was going on with Garfield ( mind you we filled out a paper explaining what was wrong with garfield, he had bite marks, and his foot was swollen and he was in pain). we went on to ask what was wrong with him she proceeded to say that they haven't even looked at him because they had other more important animals, the nurse left, and we proceeded to wait 2 MORE HOURS which i thought was ubsurd, the nurse came back after that and proceeded to make us the same stupid question of WHAT HAPPENED WITH GARFIELD, and it was another nurse, we told the nurse the same story, and she proceeded to " oh ok, i was wondering because i JUST checked him and it looks like nothing is wrong with him", we proceeded to ask if they did the x-rays the other nurse told us they would do, since they made us wait 2 HOURS, she said no, i also asked what they had done since they did no x-rays or nothing. She went on to say " we just looked at his chest, and leg and we see no sign of him having pain"at this point we were done my kids were tired it was 2 A.M, and we waited 7 hours for nothing and i knew something was wrong with my cat, he was limping and the bite marks that they didn't even look at, could have been from a venomous animal and he could have been dying, and they didn't do any blood work either, but they said he was fine, so i told the nurse we are leaving, and to give me Garfield, they brought me Garfield, and they gave him pain medication, but the nurse said he wasn't in pain, but to give this medication, and when i had asked what the medication was for all three of the nurses proceeded to be very rude, they made faces at me and they looked at each other as if i were to be crazy, and when i was asking them what they had done in the examination, they proceeded to once more ask what had happened with Garfield, and i told her what happened and the nurse said "Oh". I proceeded to pay I didn't think it was going to be that much since they didn't even do anything, but no the grand total was 216dollars, just for some nurses to rub his stomach, because that's literally all they did. I will never recommend this place at all, i am willing to sue, and this is a sign to always read the reviews for anything before actually going to that place, i am so disappointed this place doesn't even deserve one star, it is just here to take you money, and i am sorry to anyone that has had a bad experience like myself, i dont know why they are not shut down.

But from the very first visit, Dr. Pressly completely changed that for me. You can genuinely tell that his heart and mind are fully invested in what he does, and most importantly, in the well-being of the animals. That level of compassion and dedication is rare and incredibly reassuring. The front desk staff is always friendly, welcoming, and quick to respond, which makes every interaction smooth and stress-free. The care, professionalism, and kindness shown by the entire team are simply outstanding. I would recommend this practice to absolutely anyone. We have had a wonderful experience by both staff and Dr's, especially Dr. Bellomo, who has explained to us step by step the surgical procedure that our dog was going to have and made everything comforting and assured us that Kygo will be alright. This woman has no business in customer service. I come in regularly for my pets, and she's consistently rude, condescending, and disrespectful. She interrupts, rolls her eyes, and acts like helping you is a burden. Today, I finally called her out on her attitude, and instead of apologizing, she argued with me. No remorse. No professionalism. Just pure defensiveness. Did she know I recorded the ENTIRE interaction for her manager? Probably not lol--but I'm tired of her gaslighting. This won't be a "he said, she said." She even claimed I had an issue with her--as if I'm the problem. I've read the reviews. I'm not the only one complaining about her. It's clear she hates her job, and frankly, she shouldn't have it. I don't have a problem with the other front desk staff--it's always her. To top it off, when I was in the middle of putting my dog down, she barged in to ask if I wanted to buy prescription food for my cat. Seriously? When we didn't buy it that moment, we overheard her talking to the staff in the back and saying, "I'm never preordering food for them again." That's not just rude--it's disgusting. She clearly doesn't even know how to use the software, constantly messes up client information, and I always hear her arguing with other customers. She even lied, saying my mother wanted her phone number back on my account--after I asked them to call me not her. This is funny, considering my mom switched vets BECAUSE of Paula. What's worst of all? She never once tried to apologize or fix it. I walked out saying, "Thanks for the apology"--because that's the only one I was going to get. You'd think with all the complaints geared towards her, management would take some sort of action. But hopefully now that I actually have the conversation, they can see for themselves what it's like to be a customer here. It's not pleasant. I'm not sharing this out of spite--I just want management to understand what it's like to deal with her from a client's perspective.

This is something I have asked of them to make sure we are doing the best thing for our pups and that being so close to their care I am not missing something. We are both in step of least invasive to most in most situations unless something aggressive like cancer that need a strong comprehensive response. Our pups are our world and family. I am deeply grateful we found this office. We've been using them for half a decade. I drive an hour plus to go to them because of their exceptional care. We've used their emergency room, scheduled appointments for long term care and post op care after surgery by another practice in the building. They are able to email me receipts for our pet insurance. The staff cares about the fur babies and do their best. They're quite easy to communicate with and work well with our other pup doctors. Because of his help and catching it early we have had a pup stay 4 years in stage 2 kidney disease which is significantly longer than average. He gave us the contact details for a vet nutrition institute at a university which has significantly helped our pup keep pancreatitis at bay and provided significant quality of life the last few years. We've also seen Dr. Eriksson the cardiologist to check in on our pups hearts or pre surgery ok. They created a protocol for our pups when going under annes and have been helpful. Adore and will continue to use them
