I want to say this is the most professional dental office I have ever been too. Two weeks ago, I called this office to try and get an emergency appointment. They got me in very quickly. I am someone who has terrible anxiety over going to the dentist and I have a tendency to put it off. I did tell them this when I made the appointment. On my first visit, I walked in to a beautiful, clean, state of the art dental office. The staff were very kind. They were helpful in keeping me calm and not nervous. Dr. DeKow was so kind and went over a treatment plan. I went back today to start this and received the same very kind treatment. I feel really bad that I can not remember the dental assistants name but she was amazing. She checked on me, kept me calm, she was so sweet and very professional. Dr. DeKow was so kind, made sure I was doing ok through the entire procedure. I will recommend this office to anyone and everyone. They also take multiple insurances including mine. And, last but not least, they do not play elevator music. read more

I really appreciate Dr Johnson, and the staff at Carolinas Dentist. They have an honest, human and conservative approach which makes me very comfortable compared to some dentists I've contacted in WNC. I originally came because they accepted my insurance, and to be honest, wasn't too excited based off of the Yelp reviews, but after visiting twice now, I think those reviews must be from prior staff. Easily the worst admin staff of any office I've ever been to. They overcharged me a year ago and I've been trying to get refunded since then. They've never once followed up and have been frankly rude and unprofessional the entire time about it. The clinical care is fine but why would you go to a place that would just steal from you? read more

This is the worst dentist office I have ever been to. I was told that I needed a root canal. I did not need a root canal. I took my 10 year old son to get a cleaning. I had to tell her to get the plaque off his teeth. She told me that they do not clean 10 year olds teeth for plaque. She did clean for plaque after I asked her to. She was just going to polish his teeth. Then they told me that I needed a deep cleaning. They charged my $100 that insurance didn't pay. When she did the "deep cleaning", it was the same cleaning the the previous dentist did. So I am not sure what a "deep cleaning" is.I will NEVER use them again !! read more

Dr. Johnson was so helpful and literally a life saver !!! Came here for an emergency situation, with tons of pain in my jaw from an infected tooth. They were able to give me a round of antibiotics and pain medication and took care of it as soon as the antibiotics worked their course. So so caring and as I have a lot of anxiety around the dentist they were making sure I was okay the entire time and explained what was happening the whole time !!! Needed a new Bridge and was nervous about the process. Dr. Dekow and his staff developed a treatment plan and explained everything. I got discount by being one of the first patients for their new office. $99 including X-rays,dental exam and cleaning. They did not do cleaning the first day. They charged me $65 dollars. I scheduled another appointment for a cleaning. They charged me $265 for that service. I thought that was way too high but knowing that I had not been to the dentist in a while I agreed. I came back they did the bottom and did not complete the top. I was told that the return visit to do the top was free. I did agree to come back but I thought that $265 was a bit much but paid it anyway. When I returned to get the top teeth cleaned they wanted me to pay them another $285 for the top I refused to pay that and they did the top teeth anyway. They were not happy with me that I refused to pay. I was asked by the hygienist when did I want another appointment 4 or 6 months. I agreed to 4. I was told that they would call me back to schedule. have never written a review, good or bad, but I feel obligated to do so about my experience with this practice which has been a nightmare from start to finish. I saw Dr. Dekow about pain in a single tooth and was advised the tooth was fractured, but that it was stable and in good enough condition to have a root canal and a crown placed. I made it clear from the beginning that my current insurance would be gone after May 31st as I lost my job and I wouldn't have insurance through my new job until August and was told more than once that all charges would be submitted before I lost insurance. Although they perform root canals at this practice, Dr. Dekow stated the tooth canals were not visible enough for him to feel comfortable having the root canal done at his practice and referred me to an Endodontist whose practice does not accept any insurance. I then located an Endodontist that accepted my insurance but had to drive over an hour away and was advised the tooth was too damaged and had to be extracted. I had already paid in full for the crown on my credit card and had been paying interest on that for several weeks. I went back to Dr. Dekow and had the tooth extracted and we decided I would have a bridge placed, so I went back two weeks later to discuss the treatment plan and had to pay half of the cost to schedule the appointment to have the molds made which was $1084.00. I showed up this morning to have the molds made and was asked to pay the balance, over $1000.00 and once again I reiterated that my insurance is gone by end of business today and asked to confirm that the charges would be submitted today. The woman at the front desk replied "absolutely, it will all be submitted as of today so it will be fine". Thank goodness there was another woman standing next to her who said the charges can only be submitted after the bridge is seated (installed), which would be one to two weeks and proceeded to tell me I could go ahead with the treatment plan and they would submit it but it would be denied. I told them both I specifically told the financial counselor at the last visit when I paid $1084 that my insurance ended after 5/31 and I was assured it would be submitted and it would be fine. The only response I got was they were sorry I came this morning for nothing and that I could come back once I have new insurance. I came home and called and spoke with the practice manager Tyler and I gave him all of this information and his response was that the financial counselor had only been there two weeks and was no longer with the practice. He also told me that my situation was the first time anything had gone amiss. Do not go to this practice unless you are prepared for a possible situation such as this. My experience has left me with missing time from work, paying interest on a crown and half the cost of a very expensive bridge, and going through several weeks of pain waiting for an endodontist appointment only to end up back where I started having the tooth extracted.
