My brother and I where passing through Redding on our way north and needed to get a set of keys to my older Toyota pickup and shell for my brother. Carol's was just a block from the hotel so we headed on over. My keys where worn and the first attempt did not work out but, no problem, a couple of adjusments and we had a replacement key for the camper shell. The truck was a bit more dificult. the key for the truck and had worn quite a bit. she was not able to make a copy from this key that would work so she used her locksmith magic and read the key code from the old key and cut a new key with a cnc key cutter. It worked great. She also gave me the key code so I could get another key cut exactly right next time I needed a new key. The cost was shockingly low. The nice lady whos name I did not get was quick but not rushed and was a pleasure to work with. Don't bother with the hardware store or the automagic key machines you see at the big box stores. Come to Carols and get a key that will work before you leave, pay a reasonable price and have a pleasant time while you get a new key made. read more

Called Carol's Lock & Key in a panic this morning. My pantry door (which does not lock) was stuck shut. The lever handle would turn but was not engaging the mechanism to let the door open. Due to a cancellation, they were able to come out immediately and their technician Vicky had the door open in a split second because she knew what she was doing. I was so embarrassed - a can of pepper on the spice rack attached to the inside of the door had slid under the inside lever! When I went to pay her, she stuck out her hand and said " It happens to all of us..." and took a hand shake as payment for her 3 minute service call. I will never use another locksmith and will recommend Carol's to anyone who needs a locksmith. This kind of service is a rare find in this day and age and their kindness will not be forgotten. I didnt end up using their service because I found my key at the last second. But they came highly recommended from a friend who has used their services and the woman who answered the phone was very helpful and knowledgeable.
